This was one of the best biographical videos I have watched of Rossini. Straight to the point without any flowery 'surprising' facts.

Thank you, and I fully agree with you. With biographies it is the same as in music: Too many flowery facts obscure the view of the real person Too many embellishment obscure the view on the melody kind regards, Peter

Some of the slight mispronunciations are entirely forgivable - in fact, especially in this era of grating AI robot voices with their cod American accents and self evident multiplicitous failures demonstrating the lack of even the most basic "understanding" of the musical, rhythmic and intonational aspects of the spoken word - the endeavour to narrate the story manually is to be applauded. What a pity that his first wife spent her lsst years lonely and frustrated - frankly I'm not surprised Colbran acted out... Her looks and career were everything and once they were gone, what was left? I really felt for her. I also felt for Rossini too who unusually escaped the social, professional and psychological difficulties of declining popularity simply because his popularity didn't decline. I'm sure even during his darkest hours, he understood that. And being flush with cash didnt hurt! No, it doesnt buy happiness, but let's face it, you'd rather be rich and miserable, than poor and miserable, wouldn't you??!! And attaining 76 years in the 19th Century was a real achievement - all in all, he was truly blessed - as are we who continue to get joy from the master's legacy. What a gift to Humanity.....❤️
