They were on the Ellen Show and Target gave them each $10,000 to attend the summer session at Berklee College of Music. Dany had an assignment to write a song and was so homesick she wrote this. There is a video of her crying about the homesick feeling. She was 15 at the time.

If you ever make it to a The Warning concert, which is highly recommended, you'll find that, regardless of venue size and language spoken locally, a good portion of the crowd will be singing along to every song, whether that song is in English or Spanish. It's a surreal experience that shouldn't be missed.

This is my favorite song by The Warning. It perfectly describes how I feel most days. If I could this song would have me in tears every time I heard it. Hopefully one day I will be able to tell Danny how much this song means to me. It is not very likely to happen because I suffer from extreme social anxiety, depression and possible autism so the thought of actually talking to her terrifies me.

Poor little Dany was sad and homesick while at Berklee. This amazing song was the result.

I've heard this song many different times but this solo version is special.

I dont think Dany will EVER be lonely again. Such a beautiful soul who deserves all the admiration in the world.

This one was quite a moment. They played three shows in Mexico last October, each one having special moments like this that are well beyond their usual rock show. This song is always emotional for her but this time it really got to her. Her sister Paulina, usually the drummer, played a couple songs on piano (they all play piano as well), one of the songs, Breathe, is a short but intense song that she said she would never perform live. But she said she reconsidered when she looked out and realized 8000 people came just to see them. She made it through just barely and burst into tears at the end. I guarantee everyone that knows them, including those of us all around the world watching were crying too. They just have that effect on people. They were also battling the flu during and between these shows, which I'm sure made it much more difficult. Thanks.

This song hits hard. I’d say it’s almost as emotional to me as She Used to Be Mine by Sara Bareilles. I bark every single time with that- this is super close. I ❤ Dany!

A very vulnerable and intimate performance by Dany in her hometown. As with every performance by Dany, her emotions and passion flood through making each performance special, and as we know the back story to this song, it makes it emotional too. You should compare this performance to The Warnings' live performance at Teatro Metropolitan theatre cdmx . One of The Warning's earlier songs written by Dany 9 years ago it is still in their setlist as of today. Well, mostly , they have new songs to promote now. A great reaction Gina. Thanks. 🤟

*When I'm Alone* *When I'm Alone* is Dany's song... Dany wrote this when the girls were at Berklee Music College (aka BMC) in Boston back in 2015 attending the summer session they offer(ed)... she got very homesick and also had a homework task to write a song... she hadn't any ideas, time was running out, and being homesick was devastating... she recorded a teary vlog about it... afterward she realized she could harness the emotions and pain she was feeling to write her song... i haven't heard what grade she got for it but many of us hope it was an A+... Dany has also stated several times that when she writes a song, it is from her heart and whatever emotions she is feeling at the time... so here we are enjoying this truly heartfelt song of loneliness and heartache... speaking of Berklee Music College, their concert at "Liceo" (basically Spanish for "learning place" or "high school") had multiple purposes... for one purpose, the story is that they needed something to submit to Berklee showing Ale's and Pau's chops and how well they played their instruments... this because both of them were less than 15 years old which is/was the age cut off for the summer program they were wanting to attend... so each of them chose a song to show off their talents... IIRC, those songs were "Hysteria" for Ale, "Everlong" for Pau, and "Crazy Train" for Dany... apparently BMC accepted their submissions because all three girls attended at the same time... while they were there they did vlogs to send to Ellen DeGeneres to keep her and her show up to date on how they were doing while at BMC... this because Ellen and Target gave each of the girls a check to help pay for them to attend the summer session at BMC... Her lyrics, her feelings in this performance are SO relatable. The mental strength and fortitude to power through the rest of the song after breaking down and crying in the middle. She's a fighter. All three of them are fighters, and we love that they wear their hearts on their sleeves, and aren't afraid to make us cry, and then to cry right alongside us. ❤❤❤❤❤

While this is special for its crowd interactions and emotionalism, two much better versions of this are the performance at TEDx 2017 at University of Nevada (but listen to the whole show - It is fundamental The Warning lore!) and the version at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 08/29/2022. Most of us who weren't there hate these crappy cell phone videos. The ones I mentioned are professionally recorded. There is a great Ellen Show documentary called *The Warning - Video Diary (Berklee).* Dany is shown breaking down on camera while she discusses the homesickness that led to this song.

"Breathe", at The Pepsi center in Mexico City, is performance like this one. This time it's Pau, singing the song that means a lot to her. She had said she'd never play it live, because it was too emotional for her. This acoustic, "Dany only" version of When I'm Alone is beautiful, almost as touching as Pau's live performance of Breathe. The only thing that's missing is her amazing solo in the non acoustic original. That solo is one of my favorite solo's by her, together with the solos i XXI Century Blood, and Show Me the Light. "DANY DANY DANY DANY" Damn those onion cutting ninjas!

My only complaint about this video is the reactor complaining about the guy in crowd singing along with Dany while tapeing that performance. Forgetting he paid his money to be there on that day. Was nice enough to record that performance. So we at home can witness that moment in time. Besides. He wasn't bad. I heard some fan cams volume that was dreadful. Or the camera person singing was so flat and way off key.

That is fair feedback….and I am going to take some time to make note of a few things, because to focus on that one moment and comment, seems odd to me. The thing I love most about this performance is that beautiful energy exchange and the fact that the entire crowd was singing with her. So it isn’t that I didn’t want him singing, in fact I love that he is, it’s just I was bummed I couldn’t hear her and I clearly stated that I understand that is what happens when we get to see recording from peoples cell phones. I know Braeden who requested that I react to this performance, suggested it specifically because he knew I would greatly appreciate the emotional energy exchange between her and the crowd. And that is my biggest takeaway and what is most moving to me. It is interesting/odd to me that you would assume I had forgotten that he paid for the tickets to be there, live in the moment and just happened to be awesome enough to record it for us all to witness…because I never said anything of the sort..I just genuinely reacted to what I was feeling and thinking in that moment

It’s at a bummer you feel that way…this was a beautiful performance and I just share my thoughts as they come…and I always make sure to roll back in respect of the song and experience.
