This is from the committee's press release: The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2023 to Narges Mohammadi for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all. Her brave struggle has come with tremendous personal costs. Altogether, the regime has arrested her 13 times, convicted her five times, and sentenced her to a total of 31 years in prison and 154 lashes. Ms. Mohammadi is still in prison. What makes this song so meaningful is, Unchained Melody was written about a prisoner longing to be reunited with a loved one. And her husband and children were there to receive the honor on her behalf. It's nice to see a reactor appreciate her performance as it relates to the significance of this event.

She does not merely sing the words, she lives them. Angelina Jordan is not just a singer; she is a storyteller. She does not merely sing the words, she lives them. She transforms herself into the song, embodying its emotions and meanings. She connects with her audience on a deep level, reaching into their hearts and souls with her voice. She has a rare gift of finding the most vulnerable and touching part of each song and delivering it with sincerity and passion. She is a musical artist who makes you feel the song like no one else can. ©

In 2014, a little Norwegian girl was named and codified, a national treasure by both the King of Norway and the prime Minister. That same year, she sang for the Nobel peace prize winners all at the age of 8. In 2023, that same girl, now almost 18 once again graced the Nobel peace prize stage and sang for the recipient once again. That young girl is none other than Angelina Jordan. Angelina Jordan made history with this performance. Angelina is the only solo singer under the age of 18 to have performed twice at the Nobel peace prize concert. When I learned the story of Narges Mohammadi, this years recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, and the history of the song "Unchained Melody", I fully understood why Angelina Jordan chose this song. P.S.: Angelina arranged the music and vocals for this performance. She thanked the director of KORK publicly for allowing her to do this.

Angelina Jordan's decision to interpret the song like this is majestic, ,all her vocal virtues and her prodigious technique, to give a message of love, hope, faith, part of a woman. who has sacrificed her family, her physical health and her life for a noble and just cause, for equality and the rights of women and children in Iran, sentenced to 10 years in prison, her children present at the ceremony received the award, it was a message from a desperate mother to her children present in the unique voice of Angelina Jordan. Narges Mohammadi was this years' recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Narges was, at the time of this tribute, on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two children spoke on her behalf at this event. Most of the performers were Iranian. We know Angelina's grandmother, Mery Zamani, grew up in Iran and was a prodigy for painting and poetry. We can imagine the conversations Mery had with Angelina about Narges. This performance had to be extremely meaningful to Angelina and her family. I hope all the angels will spread the story of Narges and her mission, with the hope for change. In 1954, Alex North was contracted to compose the score for the prison film Unchained (released in 1955). North had a melody he had written in the 1930s and composed and recorded the score when he was asked to write a song based upon the movie's theme. North asked Hy Zaret to write the lyrics. After first refusing, Zaret and North together wrote "Unchained Melody. Zaret refused the producer's request to include the word "unchained" in his lyrics. The song eventually became known as the "Unchained Melody" even though the song does not actually include the word "unchained". Instead, Zaret chose to focus on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time". "Unchained Melody" comes from the film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or completing his sentence and returning to his wife and family. So indeed this song fits along with Narges being in prison and her two children, and the rest of the people who embrace freedom, calling for her release.

We are all at a loss for words when it is describing how AJ affects us. Angelina Jordan's abilities transcend the conventional lexicon, her vocal prowess and musical versatility painting a vivid tableau of emotive storytelling. A prodigy who won Norway's Got Talent at the tender age of 8, Angelina's voice carries a hauntingly beautiful quality that resonates with the soulful depths of jazz, a genre that deeply influences her style. Her multilingual performances in English, Norwegian, Spanish, and Japanese showcase a remarkable ability to connect with a global audience, while her philanthropic endeavors reveal a heart as expansive as her vocal range. With a repertoire that includes viral renditions of classics like "Gloomy Sunday" and original singles such as "Million Miles," Angelina continues to enchant audiences worldwide, her music a testament to her extraordinary talent.

Angelina inspires me to do what I can to help make the world a better place, so I am asking all angels and others to spread the story of Narges Mohammadi. Angelina was recorded here in December 2023 at the Nobel Peace prize ceremony in Oslo Norway, performing this beautiful version of Unchained Melody. She paid tribute to Narges, who is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran, for being an activist for women's rights. Her two twin children, who are 17, spoke on her behalf at this event. The more people who are aware and call for change, the more likely the leaders of Iran will set her free. Acts of kindness are inspirational, as Angelina always reminds us. We angels, and all others must honor Angelina, and those who represent our values, by doing all we can to help, and be kind to others. Even the smallest gestures can make a difference. If you have not already done so, please provide artist links to the official channels, social media and even links to Spotify and iTunes, as many reactors have done. Most importantly, encourage your viewers to use those links the same way as you do for your own channel. That will help ensure her success and spreading peace and love to the world.

Thank you for appreciating the context of Angelina's musical choices. Imagine Angelina (17) singing this on behalf of Narges to her twin children, also aged 17, who are in attendance for the tribute to their mother. Also present is Narges husband. The longing to be unchained and able to be with her family. I believe Angelina'a performance will come to be appreciated as one of her best as a youth. I still tear up when I hear this and likely will for ever. Thank you again 🍁

Indeed. While at 7 years of age on Norway Got Talent her voice is an immature child’s voice … but the emotions she communicates is not a child’s. Every performance her voice get better better vocal control is that is possible and she still conveys emotions in her songs she performs. These covers and her original songs are uniquely hers, her interpretation. Absolutely amazing and simply beyond.

When we use the term, "Wow", to describe her performance we say it in the softest way possible, almost as a whisper, as if we've never heard anything like it before. With Angelina it is a recurring event and she can be accompanied by an orchestra, a band, a piano or a guitar and she draws us into her world and we are in absolute awe of her. Yes, she has been given a gift and she has worked very hard refining what she does. Past and present there are and have been some wonderful artists that we have had the pleasure to listen to and whenever I listen to one of them and enjoy their performance, as soon as I back it up with something Angelina sings with her soulful tones and the element of jazz into her music, I immediately forget the other artist's performance. How can we describe how we feel? Spellbound, 'frozen with a warm glow' inside us and our heart takes command and we listen to every word, every sound, every enchanting tone and we never want it to end. When the song is over and Angelina has, through song, given us joy, hope and most of all her love, we become motionless. The feeling inside us is unlike anything we've ever felt like before in our lives and we are at the top of the mountain. It takes us a few seconds to regain our identity but, even when that occurs we won't forget where we were and, with a soft whisper we utter to ourselves, "wow". only Angelina...

Timeless classical rendition of this iconic song ! Exquisite, eloquent, graceful , reverent, respectful and poised masterful performance by our barefoot princess ! Angelina looks like a goddess from the heavens who has graced this event with her presence ! I think this is her very best live performance to date and we know there will be many more to come no doubt! For your information. Angelina is singing to the recipients of this award on behalf of Narges Mohammadi who was currently imprisoned in Iran for her women's rights activism. She has not seen her husband and twin siblings ( who are Angelina's age) in the audience for over 10 years. Angelina has given the performance that is required in this most prestigious event of the year. Honoring world peace ? The song "Unchained Melody" is originally about an imprisoned person who longs to be outside with his family and friends and Angelina was able to give us the performance that this song was meant to have. The emotional vocals that Angelina is able to generate into the hearts and soul of all her listeners was more than I ever thought possible ! . The Nobel Peace prizeebent is held each year in Oslo, Norway and that is where Angela is from originally. Her grandmother is also Iranian so Angelina has definitely ties to recipients of this award. Most importantly, this is what Angelina is about an artist that is able to bring us joy and happiness and peace wihen she performs . . I can imagine how important this must be to her to perform this wonderful iconic song with the world famous Norwegian orchestra Kork with a live concert audience and a National TV audience of millions. Our barefoot princess has always been a humble, sincere , compassionate and loving soul. This song and performance by Angelina brought me to tears each time I hear it. I am so proud that I'm able to follow this young artist through her journey as she reaches towards stardom in the coming years. I want to thank you personally for continuing your wonderful journey because your KZread channel is so important and definitely must watch for me each and every time you post. The angels all over the world love and support you and appreciate what you are doing. Keep posting my friend and sending much love and thanks from Canada always 👍🇨🇦🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️

This was an absolutely superb reaction to the sublime artistry of this performance which is beyond amazing. Narges Mohammadi, the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, is in prison in Iran for fighting for women's rights and Angelina chose this song originally written for a 1956 movie about an unjustly imprisoned man longing for his loved ones. Angelina is Narges singing to her husband and twin children, age 17, same as Angelina. I will let others fill in AJ's many connections to the people of Iran including her heritage and the reason she performs barefoot. Thank you for the marvelous reaction.

Hi Ginx. I'm Danilo an Angel from Rome Italy and a sub. Don't worry, we're all at loss for words. Her hums are more poignant than anybody else's voice. The choices She makes, the riffs and runs She decides to do, often on the spur of the moment, the control and all Her numberless qualities are what sets Her apart from anybody else. She is in a class of Her own. As I said to other reactors before you, the difference is that She thinks of things that none of the other singers, or any of us for that matter, can even fathom. That's, for me, the mark of Her Genius. 👍👏👋❤️

Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize Dec. 2023 This is Angelina Jordan the most extraordinary storyteller in my lifetime. Unchained Melody (AJ, at the age of 17 performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony December 2023 in Oslo, Norway) I watched as Angelina Jordan stepped onto the stage, her presence commanding attention. The room hushed, anticipation hanging in the air like a delicate thread. She stood there, a young girl with an old soul, ready to weave magic with her voice. As the first notes of "Unchained Melody" filled the room, time seemed to slow. Angelina's voice wrapped around each word, infusing them with a depth that transcended mere lyrics. It was as though the song had been written for her, and her alone. The audience held its breath as she sang. Her voice soared, reaching heights that touched the heavens. The pain and longing in her eyes mirrored the emotions in the song-the heartache, the yearning. It was more than a performance; it was a revelation. The chorus came, and Angelina's voice swelled, filling every corner of the room. " Oh, my love, my darling I've hungered, hungered for your touch," she sang, and suddenly, we all felt the real meaning of the words. The magic in her performance was like nothing we had ever experienced in our lives. The lyrics came alive and had meaning as they flowed through us. In that moment, Angelina Jordan became a vessel for something greater-an embodiment of love itself. Her voice carried us beyond our own pain and loneliness. We felt connected-to her, to each other, to something intangible yet profound. As she held that final note, time snapped back into place. The applause erupted-a thunderous acknowledgment of what we had just witnessed. But it wasn't just applause; it was gratitude-for allowing us to glimpse love and longing through Angelina's eyes. And so, we stood there, hearts full, tears in our eyes. Angelina Jordan had given us something rare-a reminder that love exists even in our brokenness. And for those few minutes, we believed it with every fiber of our being. ©

Yes, I always am in awe when I listen to Angelina. She is a class on her own and this song is proof of that. I have the feeling in her imagination she sings it during this event, as if she is Narges Mohammadi who got this Nobel Peace Prize. No, I do not believe Angelina is acting but it has all to do with that special gift Angelina has had from her very start as a singer when she was little: she is able to convey very strong emotions to other people with only her voice and her peaceful presence (I don't know how to put it in other words). And in addition to that comes her musical feeling: Every instrument we hear, including her own voice, has it's place in the entire piece of music. I mean, there is not a single moment where she dominates the orchestra with her voice. All is so, so carefully balanced.

I have been on the music scene for 40 years, listened to hundreds of artist and Angelina Jordan is the only one that either makes me shed a tear or chokes me up every time I watch her sing. The only other singers that comes close to tearing me up on some of their songs is my sister Charmain Heyliger, especially her #1 hit ( Love Is The Key ) and some of Karen Carpenter's awesome songs. The introduction failed to mention that Angelina Jodan was born in Norway and has performed once before for the Nobel Peace Prize went she was 10 yrs old for childens rights. This Performance was to acknowdged Narges Mohammadi, the Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, is in prison in Iran for fighting for women's rights. Angelina's performance was perfection, she looked like an Angel and sang with heartfelt emotion and love!

For me this is by far the most impressive rendition of "Unchained Melody" ever. And not because it is performed by a young lady, but no one has ever done it this more beautiful and tasteful. I follow Angelina since about two years now and she keeps on to surprise. A nice way to get more information about her start is watching a British video: "Born to sing, Angelina Jordan the early years (2006-2014)". This is the link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nHlq2puPaKbUqdo.htmlsi=4M22uvywemU5eoRR . And when you like to react on a belting Angelina: at age 12 she performed "It's a mans world" life, with the Norwegian army staff brassband. It is a amateur recording but impressive anyway. Lots of these "informal" KZread videos you can find on the Boris Palenovski channel (which is very connected with Angelina Jordan). By the way: this orchestra KORK from Oslo (Norway) has worked several times with Angelina since she was a kid so they know each other very well. And so has the Brassband from the Norwegian Army: they have played a lot of music for and with Angelina when she lived in Oslo: Again: on the KZread channel I mentioned earlier you can find videos of that. This young gifted woman is a treasure for music, I think.

Hi Ginx. I'm Danilo an Angel from Rome Italy and a sub. Don't worry we're all at loss for words. Her hums are more poignant than anybody else's voice. The choices She makes, the riffs and runs She decides to do, often on the spur of the moment togheter with Her other numberless qualities is what sets Her apart from the rest of the bunch. She's on a class of Her own. She thinks of things that none of them, or of us for that matter, can even fathom. That's the difference. That's the mark of Her Genius. 👍👏❤️👋

The importance of a great sound engineer. After listening to the complete rehearsal for AJ's rendition of Unchained Melody, and then the finished product, you have an idea of what a good sound engineer can do for the artist. The final product of this recording is a testament to the skill of the sound engineer, who balanced the vocals and the orchestra perfectly. In the rehearsal, there were moments when the orchestra overpowered Angelina Jordan's voice, but that issue was resolved, and the result is a masterpiece, a true work of ART. ©

Thank you Ginx, you got that right. She could have belted this out of the park, but instead she "killed" it softly, which was perfect for the occasion. The 3 earlier versions are when she was 9 (not 10) at her book release interview, when she was 11 singing to a backing track at home & at 17 at her concert at Portsmouth, NH. Keep them coming, I really enjoy watching your reactions to AJ.

AJ read a small part from her diary, that is the source for this book. Here is the interview, at the end you can click on the picture of AJ singing. kzread.info/dash/bejne/X5d3rqaSYKa5ips.html EfG

Great reaction to the greatest version of Unchained Melody that has ever been performed in its existence since it was written in 1955 and performed by more than 1000 great vocalists. Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 This video is a masterpiece that I have watched more than 100 times coming from Oslo, Norway. Every time I hear the KORK Orchestra begin playing, I feel a surge of emotion because I know what is coming next: the most amazing rendition of Unchained Melody by the incomparable Angelina Jordan. She has a voice of an angel and a talent beyond words. Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023 Some ask why Angelina Jordan would pick Unchained Melody for this event, Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award remains in Iran. One of the most popular and enduring love songs of all time, Unchained Melody, has a surprising origin. It was composed for a 1955 film called Unchained, which tells the story of a man who is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. He yearns to be free and reunite with his wife and children, who are waiting for him outside. The song captures his emotions of loneliness, hope and longing, and has been covered by many artists over the years, but none in my lifetime of 76 years have conveyed such emotion as Angelina Jordan did at this performance. ©

Thankyou for commenting about how respectful she made this version to suit the situation. Not many reactors have taken the time to to understand the situation . When she suggested to the KORK Orchestra how she wanted to approach this song , they were unsure how this slower , stripped back version would eventuate , but working with Angelina in the past , they knew this would be special . And it was . Elegant, respectful , PERFECT! 👌 😊❤

I love the way Ms. Jordan can transport us to the remembrances of the past, but let's not forget that this young living legend is a contemporary, a masterclass artist that is continuing to experiment with tone and technique to create a newness in music, that will dominate world music for decades to come. It will be Ms. Jordan's creativity in lyricism and musicality, that will captivate the world in the coming years, to make her name synonymous with greatness. ♾ Rb
