Gino says if his grandmother had wheels she'd be a a bike to Holly & Phil - This Morning 18 May 2010
Ойын-сауық
Holly suggests macaroni cheese could be like a carbonara if ham was in it...so Gino says if his grandmother had wheels she would be a bike! This causes Phil and Holly to laugh hysterically! lol. Broadcast 18th May 2010.

Something about the translation, plus his delivery, plus how accurate it is - makes it hilarious. The combo multiplier is the hosts dying too, knowing full well Gino is offended, but the phrase was just too good not to laugh.

He is saying "if my grandmother had wheels, she would been a bike". In Italy is a pretty common saying, the most used is: "If my grandmother had wheels, she would be a wheelbarrow". "Se mia nonna avesse le ruote, sarebbe una carriola". There is also: "If my grandfather had 7 balls, he would be a flipper".

None of which matters in the minds if the people in the video who found his comment incredibly funny. Innuendo is what they are laughing at, it just wasn't intended to be funny from Ginos perspective. Not sure why so many commenters dont seem to grasp the idea that two different nations can interpret something that is said differently because a word or phrase has a different meaning in each country.

Whether or not Gino meant it to be rude it doesn't matter, he might well have just been making a straight statement that you can't compare the two things. However in the UK, and probably elsewhere I expect, saying someone would be a bike if you put wheels on them might suggest they get ridden a lot anyway. At least coming from a culture where the humor is steeped in double entendres that's likely what you'd take away from it hence Holly and Phil's laughter. Gino isn't so daft that he isn't aware of this, you only need to watch him on celebrity juice to see how filthy his humour is, so I expect it was said deliberately.
I don't know how many times I have watched it, and each time i laughed my guts out 😂
The "please anybody, help me" gets me the most.
Over 12 years old and still freakin' hilarious.... I'm just another lowly American, so I didn't know anything about this show until maybe a year or two ago.... but there are so many hilarious clips of these two here on KZread (just speaking of the main hosts) and when Gino is there it's almost guaranteed to be funny at some point!!

I’m right here with you. Hysterical.
Hilarious. Gino did not say his grandmother was a bike! Most people seem to be missing the point. He could have said if she had a steering wheel she could have been a car! His point was that his pasta dish was one thing - if it had different ingredients it could obviously be something else!

Most adults in the UK will have heard the expression "she was the village bicycle" meaning she had been ridden by many men in the village. Calling someone a bike in the UK is very clearly referring to this. Gino may not know this expression but he does have a habit of using English slang terms in a kind of innocent way which makes them even more hilarious.

I never laughed so hard in my life 🤣😂 OMG
Gino was making an italian phrase that may or may not be meant to be funny, the hosts laughed because bike means something else in the UK. The REST of us laughed because we interpreted it as rightfully something absurd: that adding wheels on a person doesn't make them a bike and adding one ingredient to a recipe after it's prepared, doesn't change the whole dish.
@Ray-ru3pc

In Italy we use often expression like that when other say non sense things or unrelated comments to what we are doing. It's just using a non sense, impossible affermation like: if I had wheels I..., if I had wings I..., if i'd be a bird etc... to underline that they said some shit
