Gino Montesinos in THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS (3 episodes)

Ойын-сауық

Gino plays Big Dog, a prison gang leader with a pathological hatred for guys who like young girls. Warning: INTENSE jailhouse drama. When this 3 episode arc originally aired, producer Ed Scott rejoiced that the phones had rung off the hooks at CBS studios on both coasts, half the viewers complaining that the producers had gone crazy and the other half exclaiming that these were the BEST episodes that they had ever seen on this soap or any other. That year Y&R went on to be nominated Best Soap Opera and Greg Rikaart, who plays the unfortunate Kevin in the scene, won a Daytime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

There's no real secret. We are just trained actors and stuntmen. Illusionists if you will. We create illusions that hopefully affect audiences. Glad you were so affected. Many characters on many soaps over the years have been brought back by fans. Anything is possible. I remember being very happy to be working with such great artists - Greg, my fellow 'inmate' actors, the director, and producers -- to create this very, very scary world which would propel the Kevin storyline. I loved it!

Sorry about that, Mrs. Greg's a great person. He made all of us feel welcome on the set. Greg and everyone at Y&R would be pleased to hear how you were affected by that scene. I'd love to come back. It was a fabulous character. There was talk about that. Write in! Suggest it! Y&R was a great set to work on. We worked with a stuntman, stunt coordinator, and Geoff Meed and I have fight and stunt training and experience under our belt. Best way to reach Greg is to write to him at Y&R.

@@RhaegarTargaryen1steven if he did deserve it...that still doesn't mean his cellmates had any right to take the law into their own hands (and you know, one may wonder what they were arrested for, for that matter...). No one appointed them to Kevin's judges! And as if they truly cared about what he did to Lilly, or to anyone else...they just felt overpowered because they were bigger and stronger and three against one! And that's much worse than anything Kevin ever did to Lilly...he never forced her to do anything! You know...that big one tells Kevin that he has a 14 year old sister...is that the kind of behavior he'd like to teach her? It was outragous that Kevin was left alone in a cell with such monsters without anyone watching! Micheal should have filed a lawsuit against the whole police department (like he said he would!).

Well first I'm a Mrs, not a Sir, and thanks for commenting, it's an honour, I didn't know it was you in person. Yes, Greg did an absolutely outstanding job here, I fell completely in love with him right after watching it. What was it like, working with him, and filming that scene? that is, if you remembe... I know it was filmed in 2004... I know that sounds silly, it's just that, no other scene had ever had such an effect on me. It's like this script was written especially for me ...

  • @efratanddanny

Oh, I doubt anyone in the Y&R production is gonna listen to me... especially when the scene was filmed so long ago. So, was it difficult to keep a straight fact during the filming of it? I try to imagine you all breaking down and laughing while saying the text, but it's nearly impossible, your acting is so persuaive... just to look at Kevin's terrified face tears my heart to pieces. That's amazing how someone knew exactly what buttoms to push with me... anything else you remember in particular?

Actually I'm a member of the "Young and the Restless" forum in the CBS community site (and of the Greg Rikaart fan club in facebook...). I thought, maybe we could all write to the production and suggest bringing back your characters. It's just that, for everyone else this scene is ancient history. You see, I'm from Israel and in our TV the Y&R is still in 2004, so we only saw it a couple of months ago...

Yes, Sir. I am a professional actor and was hired by the producers of Y&R to create this monster of a character. Never been in jail either. The realism and acting in this scene contributed to Greg Rikaart, the guy who gets beat up, to win the Daytime Emmy that year for Best Actor. You give me the greatest compliment. I love it when audiences think it's the real thing. It's our job as actors to create the illusion of realism for the audience. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

Let me put it this way... it left me completely indifferent to watch Colleen Carlton crying out for her life after he locked her in the burning restaurant, and even more indifferent to watch Lilly Winters whining about what he did to her (mostly because she was the biggest idiot...). But this scene just ripped my heart to pieces! I think Greg and the others simply did an amazing job here... that's the genius thing about Greg's acting - he made you love his character, no matter what he did (including cold blooded attempted murder...). I remember shortly before that there was this scene of him beginning to show his true feelings (after being deceived by Lauren on Valentine Day and everything...), I was totally confused, you know, like - "hey wait a second...that guy is a killer, isn't he? Why do I feel so much sympathy for him then"?...

By the way, I think they should bring your characters back on the show, you know, as reversed men, they often do that... anyway, to be more specific, what I would like to know is, how did you do that, technically? how do you make it look like you're beating someone when you're actually not (I suppose...). And did you enjoy working with Greg? ( You're not still in contact with him. are you?...)
