Congrats to all the veterans who returned here after reading chapter 1117 in the manga🫡

I think one thing that made pre timeskip one piece so great is the simplicity in the depth. Gin was a simple one off villain with an incredibly unique fighting style and story that fit super well with sanji. You get alot of very incredible heartfelt scenes that felt like it was from real people. Post timeskip seems to have lost alot of the humanity in its characters outside of the straw hats where now many of the characters seem more made to advance the straw hats stories and goals rather than showing the humanity in everyone making luffys guiding light more impactful in its writing

Took the words out of my mouth. Pre-timeskip was full of epic fighting, each character has their own unique fighting style. Take Sanji for example, his fighting style was acrobatic & choreographic back then, but now it's just charged attacks, haki, etc. Lost its charm to me.

This is the stuff I want to see in Shounen again. Heartfelt scenes, even with enemies. Remember Spider-Man 2? Peter and Doctor Octavious having their heart to heart despite everything that happened. This is the style of development that we want to see in good shows.

Hello

Summary : My most favorite character in the East blue saga. He appeared as a weak man starving to death, but when he attacked pearl, his true strength surprisingly revealed. Sanji is about to lost his life, but again tragic, he can't kill the man who gave him food when he was about to die, and start crying. He also shows his loyalty to a captain who is not supposed to be respected anyway, and saved luffy from the gas explosion. Cold hearted deamon or whatever he was, he was a true warrior and one of the most respectful character. Don't know manga brings him back or not, he preserved a special place in my heart. ♥️

True, and it certainly wouldn't be such a one-sided battle if Sanji was at his best, but Gin was also holding himself back, not wanting to kill someone who saved his life.

Bro, i just got spoil from chapter 978, and there's no gin in flying 6 headliner.

Back when they actually looked like pirates

This video and comment section perfectly shows why I love One Piece. Even fairly obscure one-off villians like Gin are still well written and likeable enough to have thier own little fanbases.

Sanji is stronger sure, but I would like to see Gin again tbh, he's a cool antagonist and has honor.

in the beginning of this arc, in entered the restaurant fatigued, hurt from hawk eyes, and his body was weakened from lack of proteins, then 1 of the staff, beat him up for not having money to pay.so when sanji was fighting gin:gin held back since sanji gave him food, his body was weakened from no food for extended periods of time, AND he was injured from hawk eyes.gin at his best probably be as strong as luffy or more

What Gin did was so heartfelt in the end

@@Kurodo222 Actually Gin is implied to be much stronger. Its just he was too loyal to make a move against his boss. The reason he didn't kill Sanji was because Sanji was the only person who showed him kindness. He fed Gin while he was starving and pennyless. Asking for nothing in return. Gin was seriously holding back for this reason.

I think he might be. Kreig relied way too much on gadgets and weapons while Gin was a genuine fighter. So much for being the “Strongest Man in the World”

It's amazing how much stronger the Strawhats get throughout the series! I mean, I've been watching One Piece for quite a while (Superfan! I love it!) but looking back on these first episodes everyone's just so... weak! I mean, the Sanji at Enies Lobby could have defeated Gin in, like, THREE SECONDS and walked away unscathed! But THIS Sanji got several broken ribs and was spitting blood! Seriously, at 0:40 he freakin' MISSED the darn guy! I guess that shows not to judge a book by its cover. =)

Maybe maybe not, the chefs kind of gave Gin an antidote but it was for food poisoning, maybe it gave him a couple more hours of life before he succumbed to Kreig's toxin gas. If it didn't then hopefully Gin will make another appearance in the New World

Who else wishes they kept this part in the Netflix live action show? The Syrup Island arc could have been condensed into one episode and allowed the Baratie story another episode so we could have seen the whole segment play out with Don Krieg.

Nah, Gin looks like too much of a real pirate to join the Straw Hats.

But Gin was also still weak from captivity and hunger also. So you can definitely say that he wasn't at his best either.

I Hope i will see this Monster in Shin Sekai, he will be really powerfull with Haki, i'm sure about that

i think the Strawhat need someone like Gin in their Strawhat Grand Fleet. most of the other fleet just seem comical. they need someone who are ruthless to show how much serious the strawhat for being a king of pirates. if Gin join them than someone like CP0 would be wary of how much unlawful they gang were.

I wish he was in Luffy's crew, too. Except he should probably shave his stubble first. He looks like he hasn't slept or eaten in days. Just imagine him using those iron...clubs? Except without replacing Brook or Franky. He could just be the 10th crew member.

even without weapons Gin is said to be an excellent martial artist..though both are not in their strength when this two fight..

when they were fighting, gin went days without food, and was injured from hawk eyes. If they ever bring gin back healed, and trained more and a few lesson's in haki, he might be able to kick all the crew's ass even after 2 years

Pre Sanji could break px-1, Fans were like he was hiding power. After Ts: Sanji couldnt break punkhazard door, fans are like sanji hadn't use hidden power. Sanji couldnt beat vergo like gin and sanji fans are like sanji has hidden power. Sanji couldn't burn doffys coat, fans are like he has hidden power. Sanji struggle with his father in HAKI, fans were like he wasnt fighting for real. Sanji could beat daifuku Big moms 3rd son and people are like hidden power. Izaya Orihara Sanji did not use any named attacks he could have broke the doors and Tbh he was holding back just look at the way he was kicking it. Sanji was not trying to beat Vergo Sanji was just protecting the other people and he was holding he only used one fire kick any nothing else Vergo was holding back too also Sanji was not at 100 percent just before the fight Nami got sanjis body hurt in a expolition. If you really think Sanji went all out fighting his dad your an idiot plus Sanji got shocked because if the wall about the the haki thing I really can't defend Sanji there they just decided to make Sanjis armament haki super weak but I did hear people say that , that scene did not happen in the manga or that judges spear can by pass haki the reason for him saying "war advances science". Goes to show just how biased you are you only named the fodder people Sanji has fought. And Sanji did hold back plus he was hurt by pearl Gin was fed when he fought Sanji too so he was not starving.

I think Oda has forgotten about don kreig crew and gin. They could've been so strong at this point of the story. Gin had soo much potential I wish he was a straw hat

Isn't Sanji's eyebrow swirl on the wrong end?

Gin was holding back and Sanji wasn't at his best. Though neither one really matter because it's not a mark against Sanji to have lost to Gin. The Don Krieg pirates had at least been to the Grand Line already(even though Mihawk thrashed them). The Strawhats hadn't been through that many tough fights yet.

its explained that sanji was weakened due to taking blows from Pearl. Gin played dirty and held Zeff hostage and sanji was gettiing the shit beat out of him until Gin had a change of heart. Even the chef's say sanji is usually a lot stronger than this and the blows are getting to him. A fresh Sanji would've had this fight in the bag, no questions asked.

It looked pretty clear in manga Sanji was hindered due to his injury's. He was obviously in much better shape than Sanji. People in the comments are over hyping this dude.
