The Rolling Stones are not one of the most iconic bands, but they are the biggest and most important band. I found out about this after listening to Brussels Affair (Live 1973). The currently released album ("Hackney Diamonds") only confirms their incredible enthusiasm, energy and vitality, which puts much younger bands and even ordinary people not involved in music to shame.

I think that Rock N Roll is more than a music genre, but a subculture, an attitude, a lifestyle. Strictly musically speaking,, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin are more important than the Stones, but in all the other aspects that define rock in culture nobody comes even close to them (except for Queen maybe).

Lisa's hauntingly beautiful lead-in vocals are like butter on burned flesh. And when the crowd erupts during her stratospheric high-note solo, it literally brings me to tears. Her 26 years of adding a hugely sensual dimension to this iconic song is a testament to the indisputable power of her talent. She is The Queen, besides having the most gorgeous legs in the business! Only Lisa could upstage Mick. She did it in spades, without even breaking a sweat. God bless Merry Clayton. She was the standard bearer. But after three concerts, she bowed out. Lisa took the baton and ran with it for the next quarter century. Her successors, Sasha Allen and Chanel Haynes, are remarkable talents in their own right. But, they simply cannot compare to the legend that is Lisa Fischer.

I worked the Steel Wheels Tour, I was always impressed with Charlie Watt's calm demeanor and his intense performance on the drums and percussion. A truly nice person and a gentleman. He will be missed as much as his memory will be treasured.

If you saw Charlie Watts outside of being a Rolling Stone, you would never guess he was the drummer for this group of wild men! Could be mistaken for a country gentleman, librarian, college professor etc. Very humble and greatly missed. As I write this, news a few days ago his wife Shirley passed away. She was in her 80's. RIP

I was lucky to see her live, and in person, at the Boulder Theatre, in Boulder, CO.. a couple of years back. She blew the house apart with her dynamic singing, and dynamic stage presence. I would love to see her again.Met her after the show .. and she is THE BEST! "Brooklyn in The House!"

and if I may, I am proud for having seen the Stones before they got famous, in 1964 , I was 16 and heard they would be passing quickly in a small german village near Francfort, with a friend we went there hitch hiking, and it was true, I effectively saw MJ jump 10 meters from me ... one of the best souvenirs of my life ! Micki Jaegger effectively jumps very high, it is not a legend !

Still my favorite concert moment: Bridges to Babylon tour, San Diego in the rain, Gimme Shelter, Lisa singing & spinning with water streaming from her braids. We were soaked, but didn’t mind it in the slightest. I just got a chill remembering it again. Thanks for sharing this video.

No actually pretty sure this is what was a great live performance that has been desecrated by AI editing and enhancing.

I played this song when I was under 10 years old: that was a long time ago: the lyrics and wholeness of this epic song became my favorite . And to this day ., gimme shelter - hurts and uplifts even at 10 years old ( I got the message ) of an f****d up world we reside in. RIP CHARLIE the Steady Rock behind the scenes.

Interesting to see the three living Stones walk back to the stage high-fiving fans energetically. And then there's quietly Charlie Watts walking back first. Part of that is because his drum part is coming up real soon and no time to waste. But his stoic demeanor compared to the rest of the band personifies his stabilizing quiet but strong impact on this legendary band. Great footage, great rendition of a classic.
