She was raised in the UK, her parents were Americans, and when she went back to the States as a teen, she was bullied for her accent. It's not a simple yes she's one or the other, but if she considers herself as British and lives in the UK, I tend to respect that but sure, go off on a youtube comment section.

Guys its not that hard: She was born in Chicago. Shortly after that her parents moved to London were she grew up. In her teens she moved to Michigan, with 22 she lived in New York for a short time. Then to LA for TV productions, and after the 9th season of X-Files in 2002 she moved back to London were she lives up to this day.

i love her. She has improved with age in every way.

@@d00ks some people’s looks do improve with age, some don’t. Compare the two actors Sean Connery and Val Kilmer. Sean Connery looked better as he aged. Val Kilmer, on the other hand, not so much.

Her role as Bedelia in Hannibal and also her work in The Fall were fabulous!!! She just gets more powerful in her performances. I love watching all of her performances.

GIVE HER ALL THE AWARDS. Jesus just the few scenes from the trailers is enough to give me chills. Shes definitely the equivalent to Meryl in television. She’s so sweet and funny in real life. Just the consummate actress.

The X-Files was a TV show that looked and sounded like a well-made movie, year-after-year, until David Duchovny abruptly left (a contract dispute, I believe). The show continued for a couple more seasons, but just didn't work without the interesting, unusual relationship of Agents Scully and Mulder that made the show so special.

@@kenhoward3512 Yeah, I must admit, I did look up that's coming. And it does make me sad. The two of them together are so integral to the show and to each other's characters. I also sort of know the ending of season 11 is not satisfying so that is a bummer too. Really wish they did something to wrap things up properly and gave them all a happy-ish ending.

@@kenhoward3512 I'm on season 8 (the one where Mulder leaves) and I must say that although it is odd to not have him around, the show isn't bad at all. I actually quite enjoy the relationship between Scully and Doggett - it's not the same, but still quite good.

I was an early blooming teen during the X-files and have had a massive crush ever since, she’s still the best.

She’s bi- accented because she grew up in the UK and then move to the US when she was 12 and then move back to the UK after the X-Files end. Her accent changes depending on who she’s talking to. She if she’s around a lot Americans she will speak in American accent if she was around a lot of British people show speak with a British accent. And she lives in England For these interviews she’s doing by video conference. The English accent is more pronounced. Well then I guess by talking to these American Hosts the American side comes out too.

She deserves an Emmy for her performance! Never thought she could play Thatcher! It’s incredible! Just perfect! Meryl got an Oscar for it! Wow she’s some amazing actor! It’s really believable, the look, the voice! The transformation! Bravo! 👏🏼😍 Gillian certainly deserves an Award for this! Emmy, Golden Globe, BAFTA etc! I was blown away by her outstanding performance! How lucky that she was cast as MT! 👍🏻

This is making me feel really old too! I’m not ready for Gillian Anderson being old enough to play Thatcher - guess I’ve now officially hit middle age. Though it’s wonderful to see her ongoing success, such a talented actress.

This is the BEST and most accurate depiction of Margaret Thatcher on film I have ever seen. Well done, Gillian.

Not quite. It was rather affected and she forgot to aspirate certain consonants.

I was a fan of X-Files from the beginning episode Sept 10 1993. When I moved to Vancouver in 1994 I continued working as a background/extra, etc., in movies and TV. I was very fortunate to get work several times '94 - 96 on X-Files episodes.... what a blast that was !!! 🤩🥳

Same! I just want a movie that gives Mulder and Scully a satisfying send-off, provides an actual satisfying resolution to the colonization plot, and doesn't inexplicably resurrect the Smoking Man for the fifth time.

She is so awesome, everything she's done.And still so beautiful. She was also my favorite waitress at The Dojo Restaurant on St Marks Place, back in the day. Served us tempura on roller skates, coolest chick ever with punked out rainbow hair & makeup! No joke

@@sammizzzle I totally get what you mean. Meryl did great obviously, but maybe at that point in her career her face became too iconic for some reason? Like it was hard to separate her from the prosthetics/wig because you knew it was her (even though she embodied the Thatcher essence). Whereas Gillian has flown under the radar (especially outside of the UK) and for this to be her comeback role is just epic. Got chills from the first teaser. I can’t wait.

I think Jane Lynch was in that insect episode with Aaron Paul-she was in some episode where she was part insect, anyway

@@DaChaGeeYeah exactly, it was her first accent, having moved to England at 2, she had to learn the speak mid-western accent I think to try fit in with her peers, when she left England for the US at 11 yrs old. I don’t get why people are so bothered about her speaking with her natural accent, when to this day she’s lived most her adult life in England after moving back there.

I appreciate that Kimmel’s show doesn’t split interviews to multiple videos like other shows do.

I love her so much. I have no real interest in watching the show but almost am tempted because of how much I love her as an actress.

She is the reason I got on the internet back in the 90's. I remember I had a buddy that explained I could see pics of her maxim magazine photoshoot if I went online. She was and forever will be one of my earliest actor crushes. So great to see her evolve over the years

The X-files was an iconic show. It was a big part of my teenage years, alongside Next Generation and Buffy. I went back to start re-watching from the beginning and it really holds up; a bit like the original McGuyver series. :)

Gillian Anderson deserves some kind of major award for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in this season of The Crown, she’s that good! And I thought Meryl Streep’s portrayal of MT was unbeatable, Gillian’s is easily on par with that.

The key thing is her natural accent has literally changed over the years. Go watch her interview on Jimmy's show 4 years ago with David Duchovny. 4 years ago she had MUCH more of an American accent. Obvi she lives in the UK now and spent time there in her youth (before the moved to the States and worked for decades in the US) its just odd for someone's accent to change back and forth so often. There is another recent interview she did to promote the Crown with Netflix UK:s channel and she really ramps up a British accent. She seems to change it a bit depending on if her interviewer is American or British. I love Gillian all the same but her accent does seem to change over time. Maybe it's unintentional but it's noticeable.

Was absolutely blown away with her portrayal of Maggie, I grew up watching and listening to Mrs Thatcher giving speeches in the 80’s. Gillian nailed her voice and mannerisms. It wasn’t an impersonation, it went way beyond that, mesmerising!
