We put two Gilera runner mopeds with very similar modifications on the dyno to see witch has more horsepower. The only real difference is one is a standard 180cc and the other has a Malossi 172cc top end.
Both have PM Tuning exhausts, bigger carbs, clutch and variator upgrades
who's going to have more HP?

I got my first gilera runner at 18 I'm 38 now and still have it and ride it daily, I still love it and get a buzz riding it just like I first did!

Iv been rebuilding them from back in the day. When you could buy them for £400, nowadays they are up for £2500 upwards. New sub here 🎉 are you in the UK 🇬🇧??

my gilera does 18 with stock 20.5 carb the 180 top and a sm06
Rpm is low on both....mine was 36.9
Was that the same setup wich mm crank you have instal?

We didn’t set it up unfortunately just ran them on the Dyno, but was told they had very similar setup. As far as we know the cranks are standard

But if you port out the 180 then be different story 😊
I have one 50cc unfortunetly where i live i cant find fairings for it so i dont really ride it because its all falling down with zipties

Were both originally a 180cc ? Or was the 172 a 125cc engine ?

No the 172 was a 125 originally.

@@twobuddiescustomsThis might explain the difference in horsepower due to the 125 have shorter gearing so maybe the torque won on the testbench.
cranks is the same for the 125 and 180???

Cranks are both standard.
