When I was a kid, my neighbor served me a tuna fish sandwich. I came home telling my mother it was the worst thing I ever had in my entire life. My mother said, “that’s because they use miracle whip.” 😂

@@jordanduplechin7676 - At that point in time, the majority of Howard’s fan base was in and around NYC, which has traditionally been a hub for US immigrants, so that wouldn’t have worked as a pandering type of statement. Listen to his voice, he’s just honestly saying what he thinks. People have been trying to illegally enter the US for a lot longer than 30 years, it’s only now we’re being swarmed to the point of a real human crisis.

Howard is just pandering to the basest fears and resentments of his imagined blue collar audience, not just in NY (he was already #1 in Cleveland and Philadelphia in 93). Of course, regarding a national health service he's blatantly anti-populist, going along with the Reganite/Clintonite status quo of bogus attacks on everything government. He's too intelligent to really believe all his bullshit. By and large, this "conservative" persona was created to serve his interests as a radio guy then, just like the current PC version best serves his business interests now.

If I remember correctly, the last time Gilbert was in, Howard was insisting on doing a real interview and it was kind of boring. I bet Gilbert could see the writing on the wall and it said, “The Stern Show is no longer funny, it it’s not fun.” I’d bet Gilbert CHOSE not to book himself on Snoozefest100.
