Gilbert Burns Breaks Silence On Khamzat Fight, Talks Rematch, Can Chimaev Beat Usman?? | TMZ Sports

Спорт

Gilbert Burns wants a rematch with Khamzat Chimaev!
TMZ Sports talked to 35-year-old Burns -- the first time the UFC star has broken his silence since leaving the Octagon after losing a 3-round decision at UFC 273 -- and chopped it up about everything from a rematch, what it was fighting Khamzat, to how Chimaev would fare against champ Kamaru Usman (Burns is the only person to face both).
Oh, and Gilbert is also interested in scrapping with Nate Diaz ... if that rematch with Borz isn't immediate.

This fight and Justin v Chandler is the 2 fights that we will have to decide what was the best. I think it’s cus eveveine wanted to be right. Part of the hype for 273 was this unstoppable killer looking to tear down by far his toughest competition to date. After the second round, Burns couldn’t be denied, and a better part of the crowd started to “real sees real” with Burns. Burns earned that respect, and shut down an entire arena cheering for his head off, let alone the millions watching on tv. Burns earned that respect.

    @stevenellerbee6862 жыл бұрын

    I was a fan of Gilbert before the fight. I'm a HUGE fan of him after the fight. His elite skills, his grit, and his heart was REALLY shown. To be ranked #2 and choose to fight the #11 ranked guy just because he thought it was a very good fight really shows the kind of fighter he is. He has the champion mentality, the elite skills to back it up, and gives EVERYTHING he has in the octagon. That was one of the best, if not THE best, fight I've ever seen. It was a super close fight and part of me really believes that he won. A draw would've been the perfect outcome, but I'm not upset at all that Khamzat won and I wouldn't be upset if Burns won. Honestly, I think they both won, the company won, and the fans won. But for Burns to accept the fight given the difference in rankings, the amazing performance/show he put on, and the utmost class he showed before and after the fight despite all the disrespect towards him has made him one of my favorite fighters now. He walked in that octagon ready to fight until death and he REALLY showed it. You could really feel the power, effort, and vicious intentions on most of the strikes he threw. I could go on and on. I just respect him so highly for giving Khamzat the opportunity and for showcasing how he was literally going to fight to the death. I hope he officially wins the Championship title one day, because he is already unofficially a champion in my mind. Love ya bro. Thank you for the unforgettable performance. I hope they paid you well.

    3:00 That's an incorrect translation. The coach, literally and very clearly, said "don't _fight_ with him" (Swedish: "slåss inte med han"). We don't have a word corresponding to the English word "brawl", which is what I feel his coach was trying to convey to Khamzat, especially so as he proceeds with saying "straight punches" (Swedish: "raka slag"). The coach, simply, didn't want a brawl, but more technique from Khamzat. Other than that, given how the fight played out, Burns is probably right in the sense that Khamzat and his team were very wary of Burns' jiu-jitsu.

    @@laughinghyena888 I personally think Burns wins in a 5 Rounder Khamzat almost defaulted to his Wrestling at the end of the 3rd, If we get a 4th and 5th it goes to the ground I genuinely don’t think Khamzat Wins there. Thus 1-1 resulting in an inevitable trilogy because the fight will sell. And these guys are true warriors they’ll run it right back after the 2nd if it goes 1-1 not this crap Mcgregor has pulled, he owes Diaz the trilogy and if I’m running the UFC I’m not letting him step in the cage with any other man than Nate.
