If they knew what it took to do what Russ does night in and night out they wouldn’t be so easily influenced. Russ is truly a one of one. K Marts take about A PG rebound = instant fast break, is why the Lakers thing didnt work. Its also why at OKC, Steven Adams used to box out for Russ. Adams could put 100% effort into keeping the lane clear. Russ would fly in and grab rebound while Adams had a headstart in getting back on the break. It was a strategy that benefited the team, it wasnt Adams giving Russ a rebound.. Adams couldnt really jump but he was strong as f..k on the ground. Those rebpunds turned into fast break assists, which led to triple doubles.

@@MrDiMES123 Thank you! Finally someone who actually watches him. When they were saying it's understandable to criticize shot blockers if they give up too many O rebounds, or going for too many steals and letting your man go by, going for defensive rebounds the way westbrook does also hurts the team because he doesn't guard his man. People equate effort with showing high emotions and running around a lot... That doesn't mean effort. Some people just play with less explosiveness and emotions, that doesn't mean less effort. Westbrook, takes a TON of defensive plays off and often has his man slipping past him without Russ knowing cause he's not even paying attention. He also gambles for steals like crazy. And then, people say Kawhi doesn't play hard because of his demeanor, yet he is one of the few elite scorers while playing elite defense on the best player every game. But because he doesn't yell and scream and looks calm all the time, somehow he isn't playing hard... btw, westbrook is my fav player but his effort/defense is overrated

In game 6 (the game you mentioned), he had 4 crucial turnovers in the 4th quarter alone, made no threes, and shot 37%. And you saying he played well? Now, that doesn't mean KD had a good game either; they both sucked. Great players usually have good stats even when they don't play well, because they have a high usage rate, but if you watched that game, when it mattered most in the 4th quarter, they were trash. You want to say he played better than KD? Okay, sure. Regardless, their two best players weren't good enough. They were up 3-1 and lost because they couldn't deliver. There have been multiple games where he’s wasted multiple possessions in a row because he needed to get that 10th assist, constantly passing the ball at the last second even when he can take a wide open layup. I don’t disagree with your statement just explaining why ppl use that phrase more so with him than other players. Doing what he did is definitely not easy otherwise more players would do it for the money/attention/accolades. The problem was that his heart and effort didn’t equate to always winning. At times he’ll force bad passes to try and get his assists. He’s good for more than 10 points earlier in his career so he doesn’t need to force up bad shoots. He just wasn’t efficient and it’s showing now in his career. So his mentality to be what he once was, was hurting the team before he stepped back with the Clippers. He had a good run last year with them but still a drop off from his OKC and Wizards days.

Russ definitely gave his all when he played, BUT his greatest flaw is not understanding his place. In my own opinion had he understood and played like KD was #1 and he was #2 they would have won the championship against Golden State. Its the equivalent of Pippen trying to take as many shots as Jordan..................it just doesn't work!

those who watched westbrook in real life know that you just can't win with him. He has ZERO off ball game. And even with durant, he chose to SHOOT MORE THAN HIM. I used to love it when he did that when i was rooting for the warriors. He refuses to be effective without the ball. Thats problematic for a guy with such a high usage rate as his. I just can't respect that style of play. He's talented af. The only time he played well withot hte ball was in houston. There you saw how beautiful his game could be. It's a shame. But ppl will only watch the highlights to come to a conclusion about his highly flawed, yet ultra talented player.

He can play well still as first option and get garbage teams to playoffs. But he can't play well without the ball, his athleticism is good and only declined a bit but his big holes become obvious. You can be a contender with him but he needs ball and he needs the exact personnel , hes definitely a system player yet he needs ball in hands. I like him too, look at how great he did last playoffs.

And then all this hate came out about him and it was nonstop!!! The dude has been a pure ball of energy from day one and he still is and never stopped. He had and will have boneheaded plays and bad decisions. But man, nobody in their right mind can disrespect him. He plays hard all the time and is one of the most exciting players of all time. What he has been able to do over his career is crazy and pretty much nobody has done that. Just love Russ and enjoy him while he is still around, we will miss him one day. He became who he was when he started becoming a villain to fans. Trying to fight them. Becoming very unapproachable. Arguing with fans on the side. Tryna get people kicked out of games. Just absolutely becoming an arrogant superstar in front of our faces. Not to judge him, because u dont have to be a people person... but don't cry foul when the response becomes you versus them. -Jesus
