Gilbert Arenas (41pts) & Antawn Jamison (37pts) vs. Wizards (2003)

Спорт

Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison combine for 78 points against their future team Washington Wizards, which is led by a 40 year old Michael Jordan. Gilbert has an excellent game shooting the ball - he starts off the game with 17 points in the first quarter and shoots an amazing 65% (15/23) for the whole game. However Antawn seemed to have one of those quiet high-scoring games as he scores 37 points. Each of them hit 4 three pointers and lead the Warriors back in to the game after trailing by 14 in the third quarter. Basically it's Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison doing what they do best - flat-out scoring. March 23, 2003.

Gilbert Arenas wanted to stay with the Warriors, but Warriors bloated salary cap position meant they couldn't give him anything close to market value. Antwawn Jamison was a star, but not a franchise player. The max contract the Warriors gave him was a mistake and they traded him as soon as they could find a taker.

Finally some footage from this game. This was probably my favorite Warriors team. This group could have been special had they not been broken up... Can we get some Michael Jordan highlights from this too though? This was my first and only time ever seeing MJ in person, and even at 40, he was an amazing player.

It happens so often I think its often calculated. I recently watched Gil play with Wall where he dropped 31 against the Magic. Very next team, Orlando Magic. Turned out it was his season high.

Interesting how the Warriors always somehow had REALLY exciting teams. I m not even gonna go to the Wilt years, but it seems like they always shoot a lot and have flashy, explosive, high scoring teams Early 90s Run DMC, adding C Webb a bit later Early 00s this Gilbert team Mid 00s the B Diddy, Monta team 2010-2020 Steph Curry era

Always wanted to see a replay of this game didn’t realize it was on KZread I grew up a wizards fan so I remember watching this game at home but I was so young then I don’t remember much except Gilbert dropping 40 and then Gilbert signed to us that same off season I was hype…. This game was a precursor for his wizards days so when he went on that scoring tear from 04-07 I wasn’t surprised in fact I was one of his biggest fans But the reason I’m here is because I’ll always remember this 40 point game and forever I always assumed Gilbert was dropping some buckets on MJ and I always wondered why he never talks about this game and looking at the replay i realize Jordan never guarded him But he sure was giving Jerry Stackhouse that work lol These days I’m not much of a wizards fan and haven’t been since he left in 2010

That was a fun Warrior team (the 2002-2003 Warriors). Yeah, they didn't make the playoffs, but they were an up-and-coming team at the time, and won 38 games. It's too bad the Warriors decided to break that team up that offseason by not re-signing Arenas and trading Jamison for Van Exel. Ugh. I think the Warriors probably could've built something with that Warrior team, with the emergence of a young Arenas and J-Rich, and with Jamison as one of the star players at the time

Just watched this video and then went to www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/200303230GSW.html to view the box score to get more context of the game. Arenas and Jamison had a heck of a game. They definitely overshadowed Jordan, who ended up with 24 points and looked very human in this video. The Warriors with their youth and speed looked like they ran him ragged. Jordan not only got the ball stolen from him at the end but also went 0-for-4 in the final quarter. Thanks for sharing the video.

Jamison would have been an even more effective player in this era. He has all the tools for a pace and space style of play.
