Damn. Those rockets are a pretty big whiff. And he doesn't come with any other accessories? No sidearm? I was so excited about getting the character, I skipped over really scrutinizing his kit. Pulse just charged me for him too, so I guess he'll be getting a lot of custom gear.

No side arm, and yeah weird with the rockets

This was the only release so far that I completely skipped. Never had him as a kid. He's part of the over-the-top era that started coming out in the 90s. That said, that wasn't my primary reason for passing on him. My work had cut my hours by less than half and made me take a pay cut rather than being laid off. I had to find another job and it was months before I did. In that time I had to pretty much cut my spending to next to nothing. That left poor Metal-Head on the pass list. Now I have to financially catch up and once I am back on the level, I will probably come back and get him to complete the collection.

I love it. Lots of display options. I want every grenadier they have. Darklon, Voltar, rowdy piper, gold helmet destro. I want all of it.

I wasn't gonna get him but I found him in target today so I got him and I think he's a great figure, I do agree with you about the missiles and blast effects, I'll probably display him with no backpack and the leg rocket launchers empty.

I just got it! I loved the Iron Grenadiers growing up! Destro’s Despoiler etc. Just a team member for me. I think he’s okay. Not my fav but okay! Deadnoks and Python Patrol are my fan favorite sub-teams.

Good review! He’s the only I didn’t pre-order out of this wave that’s just being shipped….mainly because I don’t have any nostalgia about this character and the other thing, I usually try to play the long game on a figure or two, depending on what all is up for pre-order and this was the one in this wave. I do want to get one at some point but might wait it out to see if I can get a discount.

Still a pickup, but that's a shame about the rockets, what a weird misstep lol. The line does so well with accessory storage.

Thank you for a great review! Apart from some questionable design choices I think the action figure reflects how goofy and over the top the cattoon character was. All in all, pretty cool!

Two different rocket sizes is kinda pointless when the size difference is that subtle.

WOW!!! Sounds like a HUGE disappointment!! Good review, but BIG miss on the figure! You need to jump on a panel of reviewers and go over this!!

Hey BV where'd you get that beauty from?

I picked this up today at Target, and it feels like a rushed pos. I had to go look for your review since I don't make any other that to my buddies 😂

I picked him up, reluctantly. I'd never even heard of him but thought I might like him once he came out. Just got the shipping notice today and based off what I'm seeing...oof. He probably won't get displayed up front Hahaha

Is there an Australian version of yeehaw? I'm fucking dying.. hahaha. 😂

They really messed this one up. The jumpsuit should be black and red like the original one and the big miss is the missiles. The fact that they can’t fit in the firing tubes is crazy. So even when he’s not in battle he’s still firing? And the tubes don’t plug in all way and the weapons are soft. And lastly the round pegs on the legs are already starting to warp due to being soft

The two big rockets are supposed to go up top, the other four on the legs. Then they will fit...at least on the bottom. That's how they are supposed to go though.

Great review. It definitely helped me decide on holding off to get Metal Head. My budget's demanding that I prioritize my purchases. That means Metal Head's waiting until he inevitably goes on discount. I generally don't do that with Joes, because I love the hell out of this line and want it to succeed, but I have no connection to Metal Head *at all*. Also, I'm not one to reward mediocrity, and if this is the best they can do with those rockets, then maybe this guy can wait until he hits the price of a regular Joe.

I will pick up this figure but the only problem I have is, it should have been a Destro's insignia instead of Cobra insignia...

He’s a $20 clearance figure for me sorry not paying basically $40 after tax for him……im not even a huge fan of his but I thought the figure looked cooler then I expected at first , now it’s like eh …not so much ……like you said they started off with something that could of been real cool and then just said whatever, get it done and out

Great review! Definitely a huge issue that the bigger rockets don't fit into the launchers, and the little rockets fit, but not well. That's a big problem and very disappointing. Otherwise he looks great.

I'm OK with the missles not being "fixed" in the launchers. With the blast effects, I think it's to be used (or our kid imagination) as is. See box for reference. Unless your posing your Joes in the traditional "A" stance...I believe the missles weren't meant to be fixed/sit in launchers. All of the releases, from day 1, aren't perfect. In fact, as an avid fan of the franchise, I'm truly greatful for the fact that we're getting modern 6in figures of characters that we had as 3 3/4 toys. So I mean this with the utmost respect to all Classified reviewers on YT....be thankful and give yer BALLS a tug🤗

Why would you not want to display the rockets in the tubes? Has he already fired them right away? You don't want to post him lining up his shot? Maybe wiping out some ground troops before the armor?

You took my logic to a negative direction....again, unless you're displaying the figure as if it was its 3 3/4 counter part....limited real life poses, pretending shooting missles by making noises as you pull the missle out...., then SURE, be disappointed 😞. With these 6in modernized figures, I'm gonna display/utilize my figures in real world poses. The blasts effects are perfect. Now, I don't have to pretend that missles are being fired.....again, reference the box art... Besides, I'm sure you'll figure out a way to customize these "garbage" figures so they can be perfect just like the 3 3/4 figures.

Are the bigger rockets supposed to look like the fins have been extended for flight? That's the only reason I can think of.

This figure isn’t doing it for me, great honest review. I would have preferred a basic iron grenadier over this. Iron grenadiers are on my top want list but even as a kid this guy just looked goofy.

I’ve been waiting on this review so I determine if I’m gonna get him or not. After watching this it’s a hard hell no for me.

Try flipping ure missle holders around that may be the ticket

I've never liked Metal Head, so he was an easy pass for me. This version looks too much like a Marvel super villain for me. It's a shame they didn't design the accessories better, especially for a deluxe figure.

You didn't address it, but his waist looked a little floppy? Not quite as bad as v2 Firefly, more like Lowlight I guess? Thoughts?

This guy always pissed me off because Metal Head was always the name I would want for like my own Joe character, but this fucking goober has it, and he's not nearly cool enough for that name IMO. Like I always wanted a dude who was like friends with Rock n Roll and they just would hang out and headbang to some music and tear stuff up on the battlefield. But we get this guy. Always was a bummer. I get that "Death Metal" would probably not fly for a kids toy, but that name always made more sense to me for a bad guy. But again I'm just bias and salty.

I’m all for extra stuff even if it’s just there for display. But cmon hasbro, you gotta actually give us a way to display the extra stuff… Otherwise, you’re just including plastic to “justify” the price

I wish they did something else then put those big pegs sticking out on his leg….i planned on only using the top rockets (trying to make him a little less ridiculous 😂) and he’s got big pegs sticking out ……kind of a eye soar for the figure looking at it on the shelf ……I always thought he was a cool looking character without all the rockets all over him they were silly and ridiculous😂 then I seen him in the cartoon and was like uh and he’s incredibly annoying 😂😂

Looks like a hot mess. Not impressed. The saw helmet didnt look like it fit too well. I dont want to judge to harshly this early, I'll just have to wait till I have in hand. Deluxe??? Higher price point for this??? Thank you for the review Bobby.

Spoken like a true collector who isn't used to modding his action figures. Those problems with the missiles are easily solved with a little shaving of the fins with an Xacto knife or sanding, and keeping the missiles pegged in place inside the launch tubes is easily solved with a little Scotch tape wrapped around the missiles.

I get where you're coming from, but I don't usually mod, or even really kitbash. Swapping out some weapons is usually the extent for me. When it comes to a "deluxe" figure, the last thing I want to do it is add to/take away. A simple peg in the tube would have done wonders, and you know, making sure the rockets fit

Always thought he was cool and “metalhead” I mean c’mon. But he is pretty disappointing for me as well. Storage for all weapons is a big part, lazy design choices. Ill still pick him up but just probably not for no $34.99

Not surprised. His character in the cartoon is laughable at best. Sure that was gonna translate in figure form as well.

Definite skip. I’ll probably use this guy for kitbashing parts. He just looks way too goofy. Plus they need to stop using that Mr Potato Head style hair removal system. Why not just add another head sculpt ?
