Ame rule for backseating is kinda normal tho. No backseating until get asked to backseat her. Most recent examples are in elden ring stream

@@theoverlordbear@dirtyneptunemain917 To me I don't backseat but watching a game I played very long time into and used to doing it a certain way to success can be surprisingly hard to watch at least to me for some reason. So I imagine some can't handle/ cringe when someone doesn't play it a specific way. Similar to some complain using summons in Elden Ring is a hot one.

Gigi is very entertaining. She knows what she's doing.

She has a very good point, if you're going to be annoyed at how a person plays a game then there really is no point in watching them play it 😭

Ironically her way of playing will probably end up being actually a fairly popular conventional build. Big strength, not a lot else, big heavy weapon and no armour

So... if you want her to, say, go THIS way but she refuses and goes the other way around since she has such a... headstrong quirk, I guess you should annoy her to do the opposite and theenn she'll do the opposite of the opposite of what you're suggesting, which is the original goal of what you're suggesting, right? *_slaps desk_* Lol, I figured her out. GiGi 😂😂 In all seriousness though, the best that you could do for them(not just vtubers but streamers in general) is to give them some tips and advice and let them decide for themselves if they'll act on it or not. I know I know that it's kinda frustrating if they seem kind of ignoring your advice but remember, it isn't really fun if someone dictates your every single move now and then so let them be. Had someone like that IRL and it... wasn't a good time and it made me quit the game. If they eff'ed up, they eff'ed up. End of story and they could just try again. No one's a master or veteran in their first run so they won't understand why unless they experience it themselves.

Yes GG should play game whatever she wanna play. However, if the way she played games frustrates me and she refuses to take a suggestion in any way, maybe I can't watch GG's stream. I've never seen her stream, btw. I mean I wanna see the story progress not stuck in one place for hours. I don't want to torture myself. I can't backseat btw, I can barely play games myself. Advice for the backseaters, only backseat when they ask you. Let them play, cheer them on, and help them when they ask for help. I understand the urge to backseat but if you do want to backseat, be nice and don't insult their skill. They're not practicing for e-sport here.

DND has sort of kicked that out of me but the reason why is because I've found that if you keep telling someone what to do, they simply never learn, so I let people cook instead and figure it out on their own, the result is they have more ideas on what to do that way, be it good or bad.

While I do somewhat understand the urge to backseat to a certain degree, the gameplay quality itself isn't really why you're watching right? In the case of speed-runners and pro-gamers that might be the case, but for a Hololive V-Tuber games are supplemental to their role as entertainer. It's why the people, who, say, harassed Nerissa for not playing a Souls game optimally simply baffle me.

TBF, there is not playing optimally, and then theres actively making the game basically impossible, and getting stuck on the same spot over and over, because the holomem is "stubborn". In any RPG game with a story, the watchers want to see the holomem reacting to the STORY. The Holomems could also be more clear in their stream titles. Having a stream simply be "GAME TITLE", people are going to expect at least normal person levels of gameplay. If they said "DOING A CHALLENGE RUN ON 'GAME TITLE'", people would care less.

So what you're saying is if we want to backseat effectively we have to utilize reverse psychology. Gotcha.

I know what she means but backseating is what it is, it'll always exist. Only way to avoid it is by not streaming really. Even pros get backseated. You can moderate with moderators on chat but that will just anger fans. The best way really is to just deal with it.

I understand not wanting backseaters but there are some people who are just so bad and clueless that they really should take some advice. I remember watching one streamer play ff7 remake and she was having a terrible time because she just completely forgets the most basic of combat that the game teaches at the start. Refusing help and then complaining that the game is too hard or is bad is just annoying to watch. It’s fun when someone understands the game mechanics like Gigi and intentionally goes out of their way to play differently.

💯! Playing bad on purpose for content is fun, and playing bad because you're a noob and just learning and you get better and better on stream is also fun. But playing bad for no reason and refusing to learn and then blaming the game is not something I want to watch.

There's two problems with her attitude here: 1. She's opening up a vulnerability to reverse backseating. 2. There are a number of reasons why someone will backseat and very few backseaters are there squarely to make the streamer play in a specific way. For one, streamers are essentially reaction content. So lots of players are interested in watching a streamer because they want to see the streamer's reaction to particular parts of a game. Which is why they will often backseat directions in the hopes the streamer doesn't miss it or lock themselves out of it. Another reason is time. People watching do not have unlimited time. Sometimes it's fun watching a streamer struggle in a game, but other times their struggling prevents them from actually being able to play the game in the first place. So watching a streamer waste time pushing on a door that clearly says pull for way longer than necessary is just disrespectful to the viewers, imo. Now, obviously spoilers and the like just ruin the game for everyone. But there are situations where some backseating is kind of necessary. Otherwise what is even the point of streaming the game?

She *specifically* mention it's the kind of backseating that's not helpful or come off sounding frustrated that she doesn't like. What she's saying here is that she'll purposely play in a certain silly way that might make the game harder but also more entertaining, not about struggling and refuse to get help. Do you even watch her streams though? I'm pretty sure you'll know where she's coming from if you see her play.

I get that Gigi doesn't like backseating. But I hope this attitude doesn't affect collabs too much.
