I recently got this off eBay, and unfortunately nothing is being outputted from the VGA, without which it's quite unusable! Do you know if there's a setting to disable the VGA output or something?

@whcvip thanks. Regarding this board, what do you do with a full 8 hard disk and SSD in addition for the OS with m.2 to network card and slimsas 8i to GPU?

I use unraid, that os runs of a USB flash drive, just standard cheap flash drive, the os runs in RAM once it is booted, so the os does not really write anything to the flash device. Else external USB SSD would be the best bet 👍.

@@whcvip thanks for the answer. Because I'm planning to use TrueNAS scale on my build boot from USB is no go. Either I give up one or 2 disks or I split one SATA port to 2-3 ports

@HaimPeretz You can boot from USB. Just use an SSD enclosure or pre build USB SSD that supports USB Attached SCSI. Then it should work just fine 👍

have you tried measuring psu idle power alone? 28w seems too much

Thats about what you can expect with this board, using a ATX power supply. Will do some more testing though in the future when all adapters arrive, so I can finish my build. But in the range of 20-28W is in line with other owners testings.

300W 80+ gold measures 24-25W idle power with one M2 SSD, and one 32GB ECC unregistered module and SMT enabled. IPMI/BMC alone consumes 6-7W!

I recommend checking out hardware havens video on power supplies for home servers, you want one with good efficiency on low power consumption.
