Moveset done in a rush due Sonic being a last minute inclusion to Brawl, and later entries prioritising other, bigger things. Sakurai is capable. But from the stories he tells, developing Smash really isn't easy.

@@JonisNotHereAnymore The original moveset was done in a rush, sure, but there's been over a decade to update it. Such as: Copy Pac Man's side special, speed it up, and call it the Light Dash/Sonic Drive. Hold down special in midair to keep it as is (Drop Dash), otherwise pressing it quickly does a Bounce Attack. Shift his neutral aerial to his up aerial, add a Reflector to it, and call it Insta-Shield. Replace his neutral aerial with his Axe Kick.

He can potentially be, sure… It’s just that any comedic potential Sonic has consistently gets squandered by the mindset that focusing on comedy means throwing everything that made the franchise cool out the window. Thing is, you can absolutely have a good story where the characters aren’t flanderized shadows of their former selves and still have it be funny, it’s just that SEGA never does it that way which obviously leads the fans to believe that they can only have one or the other. And yeah, if I was made to choose, I‘d pick the unique characters and story potential of this franchise over stock comedy I can get from literally anywhere else („haha, character dumb/emo/vain/fat/feminist/ect.“) any day of the week too. TL;DR: The reason why Mario fans accept both serious and comedic versions of Bowser is because they were never made to feel like they had to choose between comedy and the character. Simple as that.

4:43 Melee's Event 51: you vs Giga Bowser, Ganondorf and Mewtwo on a tiny little stage. Giga Bowser takes up a third of the stage by himself. Simply epic. Beating this thing is like a badge of honor for older Smash fans.

If we're going off of regular Bowsers then I would probably say that my favorite version of Bower is the one in the Mario & Luigi games. I feel like they did a good job balancing the comedic and serious side of Bowser.

I'd like to see Sakurai's team do what they did with Cloud and make some of his alt's use a fury bowser model for his final smash. That way we can have Giga and Fury in 1 game.

I personally don’t think that we’ll ever get another Smash game. But I do think that Nintendo will keep expanding Ultimate

This bowser uses to legitimately scary me and it still surprises me that the smash bros team were able to Turn a iconic Nintendo character into the second coming of Satan.

When this game releases I would love to see Game Apologist do a playthrough of Bowser's Fury.

My only current complaint about Bowser in smash is the lack of his proper Voice now that he has an official one finally settled on. That and have that one taunt where he kinda wobbles on one foot should totally be him laughing with his claws up like in the Bowser Car fights in 3d World.

I love Giga Bowser as a concept. My personal headcannon is this form is Bowser giving into his base animalistic instincts similar to that of Dragon Ball’s Oozaru without the tail weakness.

That's exactly it! Bowser going to his monstrous roots. His pure fury unleashed, only wanting to kill and destroy. An immovable wall AND an unstoppable force.

After Sonic Unleashed came out, I was worried that Sonic's Final Smash of Super Sonic would be replaced by Werehog...wolf...Sonic (in Smash U/3DS). Thank goodness that didn't happen.

I completely forgot about bowser in Skylanders.

Imagine doing Bowser's classic mode and the end fight is him seeing Giga Bowser and transforming into Godslayer Bowser to match.

i would love it if bowsers fury is like a mode where you collect stuff and then you fight the boss and claim everything you collectet and it could be like a battle royale where you fight also with other people.

No, they just want people to play the games because the Wii U failed. Why would they mention these games at all if they wanted people to forget the Wii U??? It had some good games, but nobody wanted to get the system, so they put them on a more popular system

I'm hyped for Bowsers Fury

I still remember the first time I encountered Giga Bowser in Melee as a kid. Internet wasn't as developed as it is today, so I knew none of the secrets within the game. My knowledge of the game came solely through playground rumors, "the big brother of a friend told me..." and so on. So imagine my shock when I finally beat Bowser in Adventure mode and the beast came back in monstrous form. It was creepy, yet metal af! Giga Bowser, and to a certain extent Melee as a whole, remains a monument of my childlike wonder. Thus I come back to this game every once in a while to reminisce of days past yet not gone.

Well, Sakurai did wanted Marx from Kirby Superstar to look more scary originally, which probably gave inspiration to Marx's Soul from Superstar Ulltra and to Marx's boss in Smash Ultimate where he has extra moves he never did before that emphasizes a more horrific nature.

I'm pretty sure he meant that he wanted the Smash version of Marx to be scarier than it currently is, but had to tone it down. Remember, Sakurai left HAL before they made SuperStar Ultra, so he had no hand in Marx Soul's creation.

Fury Bowser could become Bowser's FS but Giga Bowser can stay as a story mode/event boss.

9:24 To answer that: We Mario fans are mostly chill and will gladly accept any Mario game that is given to us, so long as it's a fun experience. We don't usually get political unless a game is really bad (*cough* *cough* Paper Mario Sticker Star).

With a few exceptions, I always found Bowser to be underwhelming as the big bad. He works in the Mario world, where there is very little that seems too threatening, even when compared to other Nintendo properties. Even little Kirby has some menacing bosses, but his world has a bit of Darkness to it. Giving Bowser the Ganon treatment in Bowser's Fury still works in the fluffy Mario world because he still has a little of that familiar softness to him. Then there's Giga Bowser. That sharp design fits right in with the Smash universe, where even Mario has a bit more edge to him. I'd like to see Giga Bowser a bit more, but I don't thing I'd like him in Mario unless they made a drastically different Mario game to accommodate him. I don't see that happening.

I see Fury Bowser as Nintendo’s attempt to update Bowser to Calamity Ganon levels of threat.

4:14 Kirby is much more deadly than Bowser will ever be. That little pink balloon is a god-killer. Kirby's list of conquests include literal gods with titles like "Destroyer of Worlds". As cool as Giga Bowser is, he is far from the most ridiculously powerful villains created at HAL Laboratory. Remember, they also made Giygas from Earthbound/Mother 2.

Giga bowser is really cool. it could be in a new 2d Mario game

I've honestly never really liked Giga Bowser. As a concept, it's cool, but personally the design just looks bad. It seems more like "Bowser if he was 75% more edgy" than an actual exaggeration of the qualities of Bowser, in terms of his canonical appearance in the Mario Series. Fury Bowser, however, is way better, in my opinion. He manages to be menacing and looks truly malicious, while still staying true to his original design. Everything about Giga Bowser is just so skinny, and that's not what Bowser is. Even his original sprite is a stocky, husky beast, so if anything, that's what an exaggeration of the character's design should focus on. And that's exactly what Fury Bowser is. He's a gigantic, lumbering, bulky unit, and for the first time ever, he truly looks like he lives up to the name *"Demon Lord King Koopa".* However, this is a great insight into the opposing stance, and a great video as well.

I mean, the fact that he doesn't look anything like the original bowser kinda plays into giga bowser's favor for me. It's kind of like how the kirby series has terrifying horrors as final bosses for literally every game. It's a subversion of theming. What you'd expect twisted on it's head. And while both do good on that with their reveal, giga does it better in the long run. His reptilian eyes, his sharp teeth and spikes, how he's hunched over, that Godzilla roar. His skin quite literally sheds itself upon it's reveal. Fury's reveal is a subversion too, what with it's scale and laser fire, but after that, it pretty much just looks like another darker bowser design. So many people have already compared it to the likes of magma bowser, dark bowser, and even that thing from mario strikers. Sure its proportions are detailed and exaggerated, and again IT'S F-ING HUGE, but it's not much new after that.

@@rodrigomorales563 I don't want it to be a subversion, though. If it's supposed to be Bowser, it should be Bowser. To me, Giga Bowser just looks like a different character - and that's also a problem I have with Smash's interpretation of Bowser in general. It's like he's Sakurai's headcanon version of Bowser, which isn't what the definitive Bowser should be. If Smash was all about having unique interpretations of each character, then it would be fine, but Smash is supposed to be about the most famous versions of each character, so it's just really jarring when some characters are just a thinly veiled OC with a bunch of made up attributes and moves.

I remember seeing this as his Final Smash in Smash 4 and being amazed.

Fury Bowser would be cool as one of Bowser's alternate skins, like Meta Ridley or Wedding Mario. Giga Bowser actually feels like an alternate character with how feral he becomes. Part of me thinks that Sakurai got away with Giga Bowser back in Melee because he was still flying under the radar, compared to where Smash is at today. I think companies are much more aware of how big Smash is and are more protective about how their characters are used and depicted. SEGA apparently wouldn't even let Sonic have alternate color palettes that aren't blue. But if the Hypothetical Smash 6 goes "back to basics" and focused on Nintendo characters, they might have a little more leeway with that type of stuff.

Man giga, fury bowser gave me the chills, but I'd like to see giga dry bowser, just because I like that concept.

Giga Bowser was so satisfying as an ultimate that I didn't mind over much that he was demoted from boss status. I'M THE BOSS NOW!!

I thought the 3D World port was a dream I had because I didn't hear anyone talk about it. Now I'm super hyped again!

I remember the strange Coincidence that the Corrupted Computer Virus Version of Bowser in the N-Gang Comic from the Club Nintendo Magazine looked exactly like Giga Bowser. Even Big-B referring to him as ugly mutated like from HR Giger. So when I played Adventure Mode from Melee I was more then suprised to see Giga Bowser and hoped to play as him one day. Brawl and 3DS as well as Wii U Smash Bros. Titles giving me the oppurtunity was just glorious. Giga Bowser will always be Part of Smash Bros. , like the two Hands^^ I love'em.

I love how at 8:15, the Sheik render from Smash 4 is noticeably blurry compared to the other 2 not from Smash 4 lmfao. Really wish they weren't put out so blurry.

Hey Man, I've heard that in Ultimate they have Giga Bowser's victory poses but not the announcer saying his name so that it crashes the game if you win while playing as him without doing a team battle. So it's basically the opposite of Melee.

I think that in a new Smash Bros Game Giga Bowser should return as his final smash in Ultimate, but with some new moves like fire balls or just fire spitting at the screen, tail swiping on the stage, etc. And if your damage gets above 100% you will activate Fury Bowser, it's basically a stronger final smash with the same mechanics but with added moves, and higher damage.

Kinda wished Smash Bowser was portrayed more like his ML version(with cartoony voices)The same goes for DK Wished Krool and Dedede got an Giga version
