My heart bleeds for this 11-year-old boy-his innocence ripped and raw, his vulnerability an open wound. He will cling to your positive actions and demeanour, foundational to his future. I'm sure you, Sergei, feel privileged and grateful for the opportunity to make such an impact on these lives. The lesson to us all is that what you do is normal human response, and how it should always be.

Well, Kristi, the only way you could adopt this boy is through Russian citizenship. I think Russia does not allow most foreigners to adopt Russian kids. I believe the Russian Parliament passed a law that prohibits adoption to countries that legalized same-sex marriages. Also, several years ago, an adopted Russian child was returned, I believe from America, just sent back on a plane like a parcel, and I believe another child died abroad. It is a very unfortunate situation for all good people who are willing to adopt Russian children from Russia and take good care of them. Please don't assume that the entire Russia lives like the people who Sergey films. I live in America (though born and raised in Russia), and we have a lot of homeless people and people with addictions who lose custody of their children, but not all Americans are homeless or have addictions; in the same way, not all Russians live in poverty. Russia, at least, does not have a homelessness crisis. Yes, the orphans do not have much, but they are safe; for the most part, much safer than they would have been with their alcoholic parents.
