Bless you for doing a clean tones review. Drives me crazy when reviewers "compare" guitars while rocking out with 13 different pedals.

I have the natural ability of making either guitars sound like shite, so I guess I’ll get the cheaper one

Its a skill. You get out what you put in.. i was in a rut my first like 5 years made no progress after the first year Then i started actually practicing instead of just playing stuff i already could do. You spend 10 minutes a day doing drills like spider walks you will improve

Buy the dot, switch the pickups out if you want a brighter tone. Still save 2k.

Might as well put real grovers on, re-wire it and chuck in a switchcraft switch and some vintage taper pots, chuck on a real bone nut, re-fret it with evo-gold or stainless and fit the best boutique PAFs money can buy.. And still save 2k.

I put a P-90 (single coil) in the neck position on my Epiphone Dot. I can now get that clean ringing tone (ie Duane Allman).

A few points: 1. My Epiphone Dot got knocked over on stage during a sound check. No damage done but I was very happy it was not my Gibson ES-335 2. My Epiphone is cherry red and is constantly being complimented for its appearance...it's like stage makeup that visually suits Rock and Blues. People hear with their ears 3. The Epiphone sounds MORE like my Gibson (fuller and fatter) when using fingers instead of picks in my experience. 4. I listened to this video before I watched it and I could tell which guitar was being played when, just like I can tell the difference between my own Gibson and Epi, BUT the more I play the Epiphone, the more adept I get at getting the sound I want from it, either by messing with the tone on the guitar or amp (one person suggested EQing) or just picking the strings closer to the neck (for rhythm) or the bridge (for treble). It's a cheap way of instantly multiplying the variety of tone. Once you start working/gigging a guitar, it will blossom. BOTH guitars in this video sounded good, one just sounded "better" 5. The Gibson isn't easily replaceable but the Epiphone is and lastly 6. Get the Epiphone professionally setup (setting up is an art, get someone who knows what they are doing) and the guitar will feel a lot closer to a Gibson ES-335. OH and one more thing, be happy with what you can afford and enjoy playing and KEEP PLAYING whatever you decide to purchase.

Bill Gross Absolutely spot on. I’ve played Gibsons in the store and they’ve felt dreadful because the factory setup was poor. I’ve had Epiphones from China and Korea and they have all been fabulous sounding and playing instruments; the pickups on my Korean one were beautiful and all I did was change the switch and get the standard nut grooves slightly filed and the frets levelled.....oiled board, polished with new knobs and played through a Twin with the right pedals.....awesome.

Good points. Blues is about using what you have and make it work. With practice and experimentation you can get all kinds of tones out of any guitar.

If you upgrade the Dot with Fralin pickups I doubt there would be that much difference in the sound. For the average player working for bars, open mics etc the Dot would be fine. I've used the Dot and ES335 and while I know the difference the audience could care less.

William von Zangenberg I bought a used dot and I agree it needed some better pickups. Something about it just wasn't there. It came with full size pots. So I just put nicer capacitors in it and it didn't do anything to it.

I got a Dot about 8 years ago. Replaced the bridge, nut, pots, caps, jack, tuners and switch... and replaced the pickups. It is a great sounding and playing guitar. I got comments on it all the time, one of the best sounding guitars I ever had (and I've had a few). Even with all that, I still spent half of what I would have buying a Gibson and it was a really fun project and I learned a lot. I would do it again in a heartbeat... in fact I'm thinking I might buy the Epi 335 PRO and do it again.

Great Video. I would love a Gibson but at my weekend warrior ability in a dad band I can't factor in spending that much and my wife would kill me. I like the Epiphone just for the price and it gets me by. Most people won't tell a difference and the people that can tell a difference support me for just trying to make music and doing what I love with it when I can.

I also like the darker sound of my Epiphone Dot. I think the brighter sound of the Gibson is not so much the difference in pickups but rather the maple center block in the Gibsons whereas the Epiphones have a mahogany center block. The Sheraton uses a maple center block but I personally took a pass on one in favor of the Dot.

Fret board Gibson uses only a Special SELECTED grown rosewood fingerboard of highest quality, & Epiphone uses (I CANNOT pronounce it) but it's a common form SIMULAR to Rosewood, very inexpensive (cheaper quality):: Then the wiring, Gibson's are also in top mine are hand wired, w/ cloth instead of plastic wrapping.From bridges to tailpiece the Gibson only uses the best hardware not aluminum cast. Pups well, they can be changed, to whatever your choice. GIBSON HOLDS ITS VALUE WHERE EPIPHONE LOSES IN VALUE. @@jimkostan9932 If you are looking for an heirloom to pass down to your kids, the Gibson wins every time. If you are Larry Carlton getting paid for your session work, you damn well better show up with the Gibson. But otherwise, this video pretty much proves that the guitars are at least comparable, so you should have a reason to justify the increased cost. You are right, I wouldn't bring a Gibson 335 to a bar gig. I am actually a bass player for more than 50 years, so I brought the Epiphone just to play around and record some dark Jazz melodies in my home studio. It would be crazy for me to spend the money on a Gibson. Thank god for the Epiphone alternative.

Very well done comparison. Great job. I have an Epiphone Dot Studio that I love. When I played a Gibson 335 I was in a different world. Just the quality of make of the guitar took my breath away.

I agree also and they're usually showing off, entertaining themselves and seeking attention with those blazing riffs and we all get it. When shopping an electric guitar, you have to go for how genuinely clean and/or versatile the pickups are which is priority over using effects. Distortion and effects will only masquerade the true character of the pickups in these types of demos.

Hmmm.........For $400 I can get a great sounding semi-hollow body guitar. For I extra $2,500 plus, I can get the Gibson logo on the head stock. Think I'll just spend the $400 on the Epiphone.

jaden75 jaden75 There is really not that much difference. And I've been playing for decades. Huge part of people's reaction is purely psychological i.e. it's a Gibson so it MUST sound so much better. Jo Bonamassa has said it, that there is 5 - 10% difference between in sound and tone between a guitar worth thousands and a $600 replica.

And in my opinion that’s the bottom line here,you take your 335 out to an open mike you’re always freaking out some drunk is going to knock it over. The Dot on the other hand it doesn’t matter, it’s no big deal if it gets a few nicks and scratches. I used the money for more guitar lessons.

I just bought the 2017 Gibson Memphis es-335 A couple of hours ago. What attracted me to the Guitar with the fact that it was the Memphis model, it had block inlays and Grover tuners. The color that I got is faded light burst.So far I’m really pleased with it. I plan to use it for blues, jazz, and light rock.

I can hear the difference, but they sound more similar in this demo than in other videos I've watched.

Love that Gibson, but got to say the epiphone sounds pretty sweet to me, and totally dig your classic blues playing, you got me wanting to play, and play of of those epiphones would be good, cheers.

No difference?? I clearly hear that Gibson got more clear and accurate sound for me. Specially i am sure that if you do recording, you will find out more differences.

I hear it too. At the same time just upgrade the Epi's pick ups and you can probably get really close to the sounds of the Gibson.

gutbucket I have had absolutely amazing results with pickup and cap swaps in Epis. I have no doubt with a nice set of SD pickups and a couple caps this Epi would sound just as good or better. I let my Gibson collecting friend borrow my LP Standard with SD antiquities and new caps and he loved it, played with the best of them. I get why people buy Gibsons, I have one myself, but for anyone purely interested in the sound and playability, because an Epi with a couple hundred dollars of work will play like a Gibson guitar 5 to 10 times as much.

I own a Dot for which I paid $399. I have owned a Gibson ES345 in the past,---I like the neck better on the Dot. Fit and finish on the Dot is immaculate. Beside the fact that the neck is spliced together (which I could care less)---they sound pretty similar. But the main thing is that I do not know many people who go direct into an amp anymore. The sound of your effects actually makes more of a difference than the pickup sound...

This is one of the best side-by-side comparisons I've seen(heard). Well done!

While I would love the 335 , my ability as a player and my financial situation couldn’t justify it , but the Dot suits me just fine.

I have owned a number of expensive guitars Gibson ES 175, D'Angelico 2002 NYL2, etc. I paid 400 dollars for a Epiphone ES 335 pro and replaced the 3way switch with a Switchcraft 3 way switch, cleaned up the nut and it is a great guitar. I love the neck (slim D). I didn't like the Dot's neck that I had. As far as tone, see Erik te Kamp's video A-B Test between the Gibson and Epi Pro.

I've had an Epiphone Dot for three years now and I love it. It's versatile, sounds great and plays great. Great deal and I think it's excellent value for money. Trust me when I say you're not giving anything up by buying the Epiphone.

The things you play and how you play them make this a great video. Love that bluesy stuff... That together with your own personal ideas shared here, I really like it, a lott!

An old guy having fun, so cant justify a high-end guitar, same as my dinky little 10w amp and very retro Zoom II pedal. So the Dot would do me fine, I actually like the sound too

4:56 is this “blues”? I love this style of music but when I type in “blues” into KZread the vast majority of the things I find I don’t actually like and feels very different?

I love the sound of the 335, the Sheraton pro ii is my next buy. Amazing playing, you got skill.

They both sound great. The Gibson has more bite and a little more clarity though. Though, if you are playing jazz with a lot of neck pickup and looking for that hyper buttery muted tone, those differences are going to rapidly become less meaningful. As others have mentioned, you can literally buy Gibson pickups for a $200-300 and still save $2000 to get a better amp haha. Gibson is more of a lifestyle brand you buy to have the name these days.

I've never played a true gibson es335, but I've played an older epiphone version of it. Plugged into an OG fender deluxe reverb it sounded absolutely amazing.

Epiphone in one hand ,Gibson in the other. Guild t shirt and a Fender card Lanyard (just an observation). Good idea to compare the two extremes.

I bought my Epiphone dot cherry 8 years ago and I am very happy with it. No quality problems. I have a good Vox amplifier and a Zoom G2nu... I get all kind of sounds i want for less than 1000€. Further more my Epiphone looks great. I am not a professional player so I have a lot of fun for that money.

I own a Dot and am quite happy with it. The Gibby sounds a little more focused to me, but I can live with the Epi tone. That is a very attractive 335 with the flame top and sunburst tones.

@@peterpanassow7814 I found it a little dark in my band setting, so I took off the pickup covers, melted away the wax potting, put in an Alnico 5 magnet (neck position) and it was perfect. I left the covers off, since they feedback unless I wax the inside, which I don't feel like doing.

The Epi sounds amazing. Love the look too.

just ordered a Dot I have some other guitars. I play for fun if I made money with my guitar playing personally, I could justify the Gibson. Thanks for the review

Upgrade the electrics and get a good luthier to set it up , still saving lots of money , unless you have to have Gibson on the headstock .

Its not just having gibson on the headstock. Its a valuable asset. Youcan pl or 10-20 years and sell it for what you paid for it. If not more

The Gibson has better definition between notes in clean settings. The Epiphone sounds better in overdrive. Just buy the guitar you like and play. This is easily the best comparison of the two I’ve heard/seen.

I don’t know why everybody goes gaga over the 335. I have an EPI dot.. I also have a 1963 Gibson 330 TDC that I have owned since 67.. they look the same if you don’t look too close in the shape of the body, but the 330 is shorter in length. It makes it much easier to play those bar chords on the first and second fret. I just can’t play a 335 Down low like I can by 330. I also had an EPI Riviera with 3P 90s. Same deal, hello frets were too far away.. as far as justifying a Gibson over and EPI. I have a Gibson Les Paul standard gold top. I have had several EPI les paul standards. I actually like the EPI honey burst standard I wants had better than my gold top Gibson.I recently, November 2019, picked up and EPI 56 gold top with P90s.. this is my favorite Lespaul.. The EPI 56 gold top. guitars are like women. You got to feel them in action.. you have to run your hand up and down the body ,Turn the knobs, Run your fingers up and down the neck........listen to them in action. make them squeal..... they take your money....But you don’t care if they do all the right things.They may look the same, but they all feel different.. I can’t always tell by looking, but with the lights down low, without looking, I can tell a good one soon as I get my hands on it.. The main difference between a guitar and a woman is, With a guitar, you can always get your money back

I bought an Epiphone ES-339 and am completely happy with it. No way I could afford the price of a Gibson. The Epiphone though sounds brilliant running through a Fender Mustang V2. I mainly use presets I've made around Fender's clean amps with a tubescreamer thrown in. Looking forward to plugging it into a Boss Katana in 2020.

I've always said and feel in my heart.... You don't play guitar.....You feel the guitar. And that goes with any instrument.

I bought my Epi Dot off Craigslist for $200. a few years back - one of the best buys to date!

Gibson to my ear... but in the end it’s up to the player and the type of music they want to hear. All Gibson’s sound muddy to me. I’d take a tele over both of them or a Japanese Gretsch any day.

Yeah the Gibson is obviously sounding better. I agree I hate the muddy sounds. I have a strat with an EMG passive in the bridge and it's so gainey but bright and clear it's incredible.

The homogeny and similarity between the two guitars as I’m hearing in this video is why I purchased a Sheraton II for my first ever archtop guitar. I don’t have it today anymore, but I imagine replacing it. My major issue today with Epiphone is that they manufacture most of their products in China. Between the humbuckers and the semi-hollow cavity, overdrive in the bridge pickup position on either of these comes out that much crunchier than on many other models.

Fun playin’ I would go for the red one, or actually get a very cheap one like those firefly ones. And mod them to my liking :) I think it’s mostly the player who makes the guitar sound good. I’d put some ebony oil on the rosewood fretboard if I had it. :) makes e’m come to life.

The Epiphone is alot warmer, which I personally prefer. It's got that Vintage sound that I always look for I guitars. The Gibsons nice, but it's too bright. I need a fair amount of low end.

I've heard from 1 of the largest vintage guitar stores in America and he told me that he doesn't have a Gibson come into the shop without having to send it to the luthier. That's sad gibson has had that name but they've cut corners and craftsman are far and few between. I hope Gibson can come back but they may have caused to much damage I feel like epiphone is making better guitars in 2020 looking back 5-10 years

Sounds like junior Kimbrough playing, love that feel I have an epiphone dot too, I've replaced the stock pickups with Seymour Duncan antiquity humbucker, and now... It's not the same guitar, a lot deeper, more rich, a lot closer to the Gibson sound

mask57000 I put Seymour Duncan hot rodded pair ( Guess they are a jazz /neck and jb/bridge) and frankly yes an improvement but not getting the Gibson sound 100%. . Changed the nut for a graphtec. A friend has the oroginal Gibby es335 and the neck playability feels in another level. So I sanded the back of the neck on my dot and yes one improvement more. But definitely not the Gibson feel. Maybe I have to take off the paint and repaint it with nitrolaquer in order to get closer to the real think. Cheers.

Great guitars & video. I almost purchased the DOT, but picked up a Gretsch Streamliner G2622T instead, great sound, great cost as well!!

They just sound different, not better or worse. Both good guitars. My budget is less than the Epi, so I spent only $400AUD on an Artist branded ES Brownburst 335 style guitar, and sounds great! Tonally somewhere in between these two, but again, no better, no worse, just different.

The audio difference is significant, but that's not all.. You spend 10x as much on the 335 because it feels better, therefore it's more fun to play. Additionally, it's a wonderful piece of art..

Nick great playing man. I was listening to you play while browsing for 335 guitars. So i couldn't honestly tell when you switched. I think that says alot. I had enough attention to like the music you were playing but not enough to hear any real differences.

The finish and tone on the Gibson is awesome to me i like the highs i hear on it

I may be a little late to this party,but here is my suggestion.....IF you play Jazz or R&B,get the Dot,and replace the pickups with Gibson 57's,then add a set of Thomastik Infeld George Benson GR112 strings. You CAN"T tell the difference when it's playing with the band.If you want to hear it, just listen to any of my videos.

Whit my headphones dot has more darker smoother mellow sound. But gibson has that crispy attack. I like dot even better myself

The question you really need to ask yourself: Is the Gibson sound and play 10 times better than the Epiphone? The Gibson will set you back about $3500 while the Epiphone will cost around $350. Also understand that you are listening to this comparison based on the audio quality of both how they recorded this and how you are listening to it. That being said that I can't really hear a huge difference between these two guitars. I was listening to this while I was typing this comment and I had to keep scrolling up to see which one was being played. The Gibson looks nicer but does not sound 10 times better than the Epi version.

The “law” of diminishing returns in any market or for any product means that for each incremental increase in price you get a smaller and smaller incremental improvement in quality, spec and performance. So clearly the Gibson is not “10 times better” than Epiphone (not sure how you would even try to quantify that anyway!) and you would never expect it to be. The question you need to ask yourself is whether for you personally you think the extra quality, performance, playability, sound, etc. is worth the extra money? And that’s a subjective rather than quantitative judgement that will be different for each one of us not some global “truth” that applies across the board... and you know what? That’s fine and as it should be.

No shade on Gibson, and if money is no object, I'm sure it's worth it. I might even see myself spending $$$ to get one someday, but for now all I can say is that I just recently bought a 2005 Korean-made "Dot", and I can't take my hands off it! It is just that much fun to play. Even unplugged, it sounds great, has incredible sustain and the whole body vibrates. And seriously: if Epiphone was a good enough brand for John and George to play, it can't be bad, right? Dot!!

Yeah, in a way, more focused sounding. I have a '65 Gibson 335, with those same inlays, and a '99 Samick-built Epiphone 335 Dot, which I bought about 10 years ago, and it was like new. I play the Epiphone, (when I need a 335)-it stays in tune. It also has more "drive" to it, and is a whole lot more stable. The pickups on the Gibson are the post-PAF ones, they sound good, but the 57 Classics that came on that Epiphone Dot are better behaved.They don't pick up the noise from the beer coolers, lights, etc. I don't use pedals, just 2 cheap 100 Watt Peavey ValveKings-one set clean, and one on the boost channel, ALL knobs on "5" and control it from the guitar, and a Whirlwind A/B switch-one is a head, the other one is a 2X12 combo, and I just split the speaker wires, one for each amp. Sounds like Al Dimeola. Or Duane Allman. To me, the big thing is the unbound fretboard, and the frets. The binding on the 65's neck (or any bound neck) feels better, and the frets (what's left of them, I've had the Gibson since the 80's) are taller, and kind of "square". Neither is a main guitar for me, but the guys in the band I'm currently with, picked that cheesy Epiphone out of 25+ guitars for my main stage guitar, including the '65 Gibson 335. And a real '52 Les Paul. And a '55 Telecaster. I'm scratching my head, too, but the Gibson is more of an investment, and the Epiphone is more of a working/moneymaker/playing guitar. Go figure, but I am hard pressed to see a discernable difference between the two in this video, and it's even more apparent in real life. Buy the Epiphone, and spend the difference on a vehicle to haul it to the gig, and a decent amp. .

For the "Cork Sniffers" it will always be Gibson. I don't see the cost of a Gibby making it that much better. You can upgrade a Dot and have a great guitar for a lot less the price.

I owned an Epiphone Dot and had to do a couple things to make it play descent. The garbage Tune-O-Magic that came on it needed to be replaced. What a shame Gibson still uses this old technology. I bought a better one from Stew Mac. I replaced the nut and did a neck/fret job on it and it played very nice. The dot is a fair value for the money ($500) but to make it sound better, you would need to swap pickups. If you want a great value, get a cheap Squire for $99.00. Spend another $100 on a roller nut, roller saddles and Fender locking tuners. Do a neck/fret job (this will cost extra if you can't do it yourself). The saddles and nut need minor trimming to fit but easy to do. I have done 3 of these so far and everyone that has played them say they play as good as the much more expensive Fenders (that aren't worth the money either). In all I spent about 2 hours doing the mod. Don't waste your money on Fender and Gibson. There are much better choices for great expensive guitars.

MegaGuitarpicker man you are so right. I love fender and gibson. Have both. But also have epiphones as well. In the hands of the right technician the more moderately priced guitars match in every way the expensive name guitars. People are easily fooled by names. Keep rockin'

Love both, I have a Epiphone Sheraton at the moment which I am loving

A guitar priced at 5k+ is just not worth it. When you get in the 1k+ range you can really tell differences, mostly in play-ability but definitely in sound as well, but when you get much past 1.5k to 2k it's very hard to tell the difference. Best advice I could give to new players is once you get to the point where you think guitar will be a long lasting hobby (or maybe career?) for you, and you already have a fairly nice amp, just go play all different types of guitars in-between the 1k and 2k price-point and buy one. Don't even bother with anything over 2k. I've owned and played several guitars from almost any price point and that is the conclusion I've come to.

In the very beginning of the video I was looking at something else I was doing and I never even heard that you switched guitars. The only way I knew was by catching the last second or two of that part and seeing you play the Epiphone. If someone used a Dot on a record I'd probably never even know what guitar it was. It would sound good to me. Now feel would probably be a whole other thing.

why not compare the epiphone es 335 pro instead of the "Dot"

Nah theres a pro version of the 335 by epi, it has bock inlays and nicer pickups, still humbuckers

The 335 Pro has Alnico pickups not Humbuckers so they arent as sound suppressing as the Buckers but still nice.

Bought a $200 pawn shop dot and a set of used p92 pickups for $125 sounds, plays and looks lick a dream for the price of a new dot, next will be a tusq nut and quality bridge

I have an Epiphone Dot (burstbucker pros) and a Gibson DG-335 (burstbucker 2 and 3). I agree that the Dot will sound just as good as the Gibson if you change the pickups, but Gibson feels much better and I think that the feel is just as important as the sound. Now, you are the one to decide wether you wanna spend much more for the feel or not.

Stock epiphone pickups sound horrible. Replace the pickups and you're close.

Nothing actually wrong with my Dot except always sounds a bit dull. I upgraded to an Ibanez AS93 which I love. Don't get me wrong I'd love a 335 but its the price and already have an SG and LP. Or could go Eastman or Tokai. Depends of course on your home market but in NZ you are quite limited and prices are high.

Both sound great. The Gibson is not better sounding than the Epiphone, Tone in a subjective thing, The tone difference between the two is very minimal at best. The is no reason (AT ALL) for a guitar to carry a priced, over 1500.00 dollars. There haven't been any innovations in the past 100 years to warrant prices over 1500 dollars. The spec on both brands is very close. There is some difference in the Gibson, like Pickups, Tuners ETC. The Epiphone has the better headstock. The added value for the "better" parts on the Gibson 300-450 dollars at best. The price you are paying for is all Brand and prestige. The tone differences between the two are entirely no different than the tonal difference between to Gibson ES-335's no two guitars sound identical. However, the differenced and incredible minimal at best. 99% of human can't honestly tell the difference. Yes, there are hundreds of thousands that say they can. They are doing one of two things. One: they have allowed hype to brainwash them so they genuinely think they can hear a difference almost forcing it on themselves. Two: they are just talking shit and can't tell a dam difference, that's the 90-99%. Then you have the last 10-1% with birth gives like perfect or have 30 years of focused listing to every note on a lot of guitars. Any guitar that you pay over 1500 dollars for, you're not getting any more for your money. I say 1500 because if the wood, parts, paint, fingerboard, tuners, pickups, electronic Etc, are all the best quality man can make at this time. Then 1500 dollars is fair. However, you are not paying for a better tone or sound at this point you're paying more for reliability and longevity and warranty. Here is how it all started and why this topic still is living to this very day! Humans have to make their choices mean something., to not look like an idiot. Dam, I purchased a 3000 dollar guitar. WTF did I just do. Ooh, Ya, I know why I spent all that money. It's because is a way better sounding the tones are crazy deep man, with some really complicated sounds you just can't get unless you spend money like a big dog. Dude, what do you mean, you don't have a 3000 dollar guitar? You know you're never going to get the crazy good tones that I have with my expensive guitar. This is how it all started. This is also why it is still going on to this day. Fact!

Bought my 335 used for $500 back in 1986. Don't know what that would be in today's dollars. It's a first year Dot re-issue made in Kalamazoo.

I bought my dot used several years ago with hard shell case and upgraded tuners ( locking ). For $350.... One of the best playing and sounding guitar I own. Great for recording .

I totally agree with you the god is awesome anybody willing to pay the extra for the look of the Gibson version is a poser in my world. But I've noticed online from zzounds.com they have other finishes to compete with the look of a Gibson. I like the blue epi dot one.

I just bought a Gibson Memphis ES-335 Cherry Floor model on Reverb from Chicago music exchange under 1800.00 It's freakin" awesome ! Mick

I just did a side by side with an Epi es 335 pro( basically a Dot with small block inlays ) and an Epi Sheraton II. The Dot sounded fine, but it didn't feel nearly as nice as any Gibson I've played. The Sheraton Sounded really good, and felt better than several Gibsons I've played.

They both sound awesome. It’s like a telecaster and a Strat. But I believe if they are set up right. Then you have the best of both worlds. But mostly it’s the player.

I closed my eyes and couldn't tell you when or if he was playing the Epi. or the Gibson. I have a Korean made Sharrton that I'd put against any Gibson

if I could afford the gibson then yes but they r 2 2 pricey and epi is the right price and affordable if need b put duncans to make an exact gibson sound

I just bought an Epiphone ES335 Pro for $385. Sounds and plays as great as my 1970’s Gibson ES335. Fantastic value. Nobody’s gonna tell the difference.

I bought an Epi Sheraton ii and its a great guitar, the pickups started going weak, so I put classic 57's on it and I challenge anyone to hear the difference between it and a high priced Gibson. I paid $600, the 57's were $300, but that's still way less than the Gibson.

I prefer the Epi Dot. If proper set up it's a GREAT guitar!

I´d get the Epi and replace its pickups with Gibson pickups!!
