Hey Ola, 1st of all THANKYOU SOOOOOO MUCH for using the JVM410H to do the test/review as its "supposedly" Daves choice of Marshall amps these days and also uts the amp i have 😃 Now i think the "Megadeth" tone you had in this clip is absolutely BALL TEARING and i was wondering if you could please share what channel and settings you used so i can try them on my JVM to try achieve a similar Megadeth tone when im jammong their tunes, pleeeeease 🙏? Thanks in advance, legend.

what? It's really not even that close to the original tone at all, at least not on the album version. His version sounds way better than the original album tone. The original is very heavy on the attack with not much bass or harmonic content. Ola's is much more saturated, a lot more gain, and just overall sounds more interesting.

That's definitely one of the Gibson's I could consider buying, however Kramer's take on that might be closer to reality because of price and esp. availability. And honestly I think Kramer's V-shape reminds me more about Dave than that Gibson, but that might be just me.

The tight response also comes from the distance from the pickup to the bridge. On Gibsons that distance is smaller.

That doesn’t really make any difference. It’s a sophistry. The distance to the strings makes an obvious difference. Beyond that, it’s just how hot the pickup is.

Hopefully Gibson has improved their quality control issues under their new management. They still need improvements in the area of marketing and making guitars that are accessible to young people like Fender has done so well in recent years. KZreadr Rhett Shull did a good video recently on the subject. Interestingly, quality control issues have long been a subject with Fender and Gibson. During the 1970s, people were scrambling to buy 1960s Les Pauls and Stratocasters because they were better than what was being made in the 70s. Nowadays, a Gibson or Fender from the 1970s will cost you a pretty penny. Anyways, sorry for the ramble. Cool guitar and the JVM tones are sick \m/.

I feel like Gibson QC has always been spotty. My favorite guitar is my Les Paul and I have Japanese Ibanezes, USA Fenders and Carvins, etc. 90% of the gibsons I’ve played have been great, but about 10% have issues that they shouldn’t have at that price. Moral of the story is try to play the Gibson you are purchasing before exchanging money.

That Rhett Shull video is nonsense . He saw a post on the GP and just made a video about it . Gibson is selling guitars faster than it ever has and can't make them fast enough . If youngsters aren't seen with them it's because of $$$ nothing to so with the desirability or reputation .

Don’t believe all the hype that it’s cool to hate on Gibson. I just bought a used Gibson Explorer for only a couple hundred more than what high end Schecters and LTDs are going for. Stays in tune great and as far as head stocks go, treat it like every other guitar: don’t drop it. It is a pleasure to play.

Few people treat playing someone else’s music as well as Ola does. From getting the tone right, to playing the actual notes, to playing them well. I feel you respect the songs. (A cover can either be a carbon copy, or a proper your own take. But it should never be just bad or sloppy thing.) Hell, I’ve even heard you cover Iron Maiden and it sounding good. Maiden covers usually just sound terrible.

Meh. Personally the short scale is one of the things I like about Gibsons. Less tension. Also, those controls are exactly like his old Jackson signature, and the Dean models had the same set up. They look fine to me, but I also have an old Randy Rhoads myself so I'm used to them in that configuration.
