Gibellini 4X5 ACN Vs Unboxing, Setup, and First Impressions

Ғылым және технология

I have been waiting for about a decade to get a serious, brand-new Gibellini camera. The Promixa I bought in 2019 has held up and worked well, but I wanted to upgrade to a more-rigid body. The ACN V2 is Gibellini's current top-end 4X5 camera. Made of milled aluminum and carbon fiber with many, many engineering refinements, this camera is a joy to handle and set up.

Great camera. I have the TCN45 and love it. Yes, the metal arms on the back are sometimes too short and slide off...luckily, they are made of good material and can be forced back without breaking or deforming.

Concur. I was really pleased with how this handled my Schneider 360mm f/5.5 Tele-Arton. It's a HEAVY lens.

Congratulations David, I so would love their 8x10 sigh... Looking forward to your next featured shoot and the results you get. Wishing you much joy and creativity with this beautiful camera 📷

I, too, would love a Gibellini 8X10, but it is never gonna happen. I'll have to be happy with the Intrepid (which I honestly am.) But this was a good and worthwhile upgrade from the Proxima and the Intrepid 4X5.

Thank you! I was so excited to use it this weekend, but had to go a different route because of the weather. I don't really want to take this into severe weather on day one, and my Saturday hike had -- THREE -- separate hail storms and two moderate rains.

David, congratulations with the new Gibellini. Really nice, and nicer than my 4x5. I have another rare and expensive piece of kit, a Carbon Infinity 4x5, but it needs another bellow to go down to 47mm and then change the bellow to go up to 600mm. Mine is the only one sold new in Norway and I'am the second owner. It isn't as light as I could wish, but it can do whatever I wish it should do. I have 12 lens boards in titanium and it's made to survive WW3, me and the next 300 years, at least. I'm planning to sell mine, if I get the right price, and change it against a GFX, crazy me.

Nice! Those were great cameras, and stunning to look at, too. That id definitely a kit that ought to get you right up to a nice GFX. Honestly, I'd do the same thing.

If there's a way to do rear shift, I haven't figured it out.
