Gibbaeum dispar Houseplant Care - 341 of 365
This is a xeric clump-forming mesemb known as Gibbaeum dispar. I cannot stress enough how little water these plants need...and when you do happen to water them-to water them very gingerly so as not to hurt their shallow roots and cause root rot. If you're up for that challenge, then this can be a rewarding plant and takes the spotlight here as #341 spot of "365 Days of Plants".
In this video I'll discuss where it is originally native to, where I'm growing it in my home, and basics like light, watering and fertilizing.

I thank you so much for your time and information
Ur information on this video is so helpful. I’m definitely going to b mindful when caring for this plant👌🏽
Good one and good watering advice. My rule on mesembs is don't water in the winter - especially on colder cloudy days.
I purchased a plant thermometer. I let all of my plants dry out before I water them. Since I’m starting over and I only have five plants. I pay a lot of attention to how they respond to watering. To be a good gardener, one needs to understand, what they have and how to take care of it. I have plant angels that watch over them, too. Sounds crazy? I like to overthink everything. I think I had a plant like this in my former collection. I probably got it from the Indoor Gardening Society, where people love to share cuttings. It was beautiful plant. When you have something so special you want to take good care of it.
you're amazing. I just ordered one of these and its October..... hoping i can keep it alive ....
Teehee I love ones like this that look like living rocks
I felt sad remembering how mine died. I agree its very sensitive.
Just got one and it for wrinkly. I bottom watered. I hope I didn't do damage. It looks great now.
Very beautiful
Never been able to grow mesembs. I do have a weakness for them though! Ughhhh!!!!
Awesome sharing thanks
I have had several of plants like this. This half of them rotted. So frickin hard.
Muy lindas cuánto demoran en crecer gracias
I’m trying to figure out the importance of airflow for some houseplants. I give some of my plants a spray once or twice a week and try to make sure that their leaves don’t stay too wet afterwards by leaving them outside for 5 to 10 minutes or so. But in this case, do they prefer some constant airflow to make sure the soil dries out? And how can you set this up indoors, especially in colder season?
💚
I have never had luck with Gibbaeum or Lithops. One drop of water and they just melt. Maybe I'll try my luck again in the future. Beautiful plants, though.
🌱👍🌿
Reminds me of edname

I think both of them belongs to the family Aizoaceae.
