@@fotisfotis8060 There's a whole documentary of its creation before the event happened. The engineers said it wasn't a good idea, the simulations were yielding bad results, and they had so many failed test runs with sandbags so bad that they put safety nets over the ride but that was also ill advised because as in the case of the kid who was killed flying upwards in or outside of the raft would mean getting severe head trauma, I'm no expert but they at least should've had safety nets on the sides so that they are caught, and not scalped and beheaded.

@@badgamedevreacts3855 Exactly, better yet, they should have put strong plastic vertical walls on each side that are tall enough to prevent the raft from going off the slide, like a giant coin slot. That way there would be nothing overhead and nobody would lose an arm if they happened to not keep arms inside the raft at all times. And make the walls transparent so people can see through it. I bet if they actually followed the safety requirements, the slide would have been just what I explained

From Wikipedia: Reportedly, Caleb, who weighed 74 pounds (34 kg), had been allowed to sit in the front of the raft, rather than between the two women accompanying him - one weighed 275 pounds (125 kg), while the other weighed 197 pounds (89 kg).[31] This created an uneven weight distribution, which some experts concluded may have contributed to the raft going airborne.

At that speed, if someone’s head were to bump against it, it might still be fatal. They needed engineers for this ride to be safe. It would have to probably be 15 feet above the slide, but still at those speeds head injuries could still happen I’m sure. Maybe if the raft was on a train of some sort to keep it in the tube? Defeats the point of a slide but I don’t really see any other way of this working.

I've watched this video so many times and I still can't figure out exactly which moment of the ride that killed Caleb. It doesn't seem like there is enough momentum on the second hill to eject someone strong enough to decapitate them? Does anyone know exactly how this happened and which part of the ride?

The netting is an absolutely obviously bad idea. If you're going 70mph and you get an arm or a leg through that netting, you're going to lose the arm or leg. Like what happened to that skiier who got a ski stuck in a net and it nearly ripped him in half.
