This was my first year doing a fair amount of bed fishing, and that was my experience as well. They'd just swim right back onto their beds after release, so as long as you minimize the amount of time you keep them out of the water the impact is pretty minimal. The only real issue I have with bed fishing is when tournaments roll through and they livewell the fish.

Matt I wanted to thank you for your skills and unintentional training. I went camping on a lake I've never been to and got out in a little row boat using your techniques with a Whopper Plopper and caught a few decent sized smallies yesterday. It was the best day I've had fishing in a long time. I wasn't as accurate as you but I did pretty good aiming into tight spots with my baitcaster and no major birds nests. Keep em coming.

When I got home I posted my catch to a fishing app and then I saw an ad for an inline fish strike camera. It has to be one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. I bet you could get some really good footage with. It's called GoFish Cam. Maybe you've heard of it. I'm thinking of getting one.

AWESOME FOOTAGE!! it was a BLAST to see those fish on the bed and how they reacted to that craw in the bed!! Thanks again...and when bed fishing...yes..I do...I have found the craw method to be "deadly" as well...but its just AWESOME to actually see it on vid.!! Thanks again..and keep up the AWESOME WORK!!

That’s the main thing I like about bed fishing is the opportunity to put a camera in front of where you know they’ll strike! It’s always interesting to see how they react to lures, and random things like the shadow of a bird flying by I’ve seen startle them off the bed. The craw is definitely deadly that time of year! I tried a worm a few years back and got most of the fish I put it in front of. There were a few that just wouldn’t go for the worm though and it only took a cast or two for a craw to get them to react.

One of the best examples of a rigged lure and how the rig itself works in a real underwater situation And what the color of that lure looks like in the hand vs under the water Gives a much better understanding of how lures look and how fish react Love this type of video I would love to see more of this on other lures as well

Thanks. As a large mouth bass fisherman for years, I love your videos. A co-worker and myself would leave work on Friday, drive about 2 hours and fish until about 4am and then go home. For over 30 years we did this until he retired. We caught really nice fish.

I've always been conflicted on bed fishing, but you make some valid points. I still don't think I'll be doing it anytime soon, I'll just fish for other species during the spawn, but if an angler understands spawning and treats the fish properly, there shouldn't be any issue with targeting beds.
