This impressive 1/3 scale Messerschmitt ME-163 showed up for a test flight in preperation for an airshow. AIRWORLD Company team pilot Thomas Gleissner starts up the powerful turbine and puts it through its paces showing a rare great performing large scale jet. Nice high and low speed handling qualities are displayed as well as low level aerobatics some high power climbs and very fast flybys. Full modern GFK/CFK composite fibreglass kit available ! Take off weight is around 22 kg. Filmed at our local model flying field FMC Kinzigtal east of Frankfurt on October 13th. Have a good day ! That is an incredible aircraft , with powerful vertical performance . So real , it could easily be mistaken for the real thing . A model plane , that's worthy of being called a miniature aircraft . Ultra realistic , Incredible flown , and not least , extremely well captured by the camera man .

Seen so many different variations of the Comet . Propeller powered mostly and even some using solid rocket engines but this is by far the best presentation i have ever seen and what a show stopper with how amazing it flies that was very surprising. Would love to see it in real life

@@rcplanedisplay What amazes me the most is how it's able to fly under control with no stabilizer. Even with the real Komet rocket-powered interceptor in WWII, they had no computer-stabilization back then. I'm amazed that it flew as well as it did..!

@@CFox.7 For being true to Original design yes. But for how the model flies the rocket versions ive seen were not good as models they were almost impossible to fly and the recket engines were only good for about 15 seconds the rest was gliding usually on a slope for lift.
That was so cool! Even dropping the trolley. It looked so real. German pilots that survived the war and these aircraft have written some very interesting books on those days and firsthand account of operating these aircraft.

Great flying skills! These planes are hard enough to fly on a good day, but this pilot had full control at all times and knew exactly what his aircraft was doing. Impressive.

So I had the honor of touching a real ME 163 in Deutschland way, way back in 1987. I was at a regional airport and they had one on display. I simply forced the door (I was a very big 16 year old and determined) and walked over to press my hands on the skin of the aircraft. I went unnoticed for a few minutes as I gingerly climbed up and peered into the cockpit marveling at all the dials. I was on my way to the ME 262 nearby when I heard a shout and knew my happy moments were over. After interrogation and every item in my luggage searched twice, I was allowed to board. I was smiling the entire time.

@@rcplanedisplay My friend, no I didn't sit in the cockpit. I did lean over and studied the instruments and levers, etc. I was leaving for the last time, going to live in America. Otherwise I wouldn't have taken such a chance. My ambitions continued until I encountered a JU-88 fully restored and flying at the Manassas Virginia airfield maybe around 1995, I think? Again, I had some alone time with this warbird, after talking first with the flight crew. Afterwards, we all went to town and I treated all to several rounds at a local tavern. May God bless all.

I think this video shows that is a good thing the 163 was not designed as a jet rather than a rocket aircraft. An operational jet fighter version could have done some serious damage to the allied air forces while being extremely difficult to shoot down.

really impressive, but I'm intrigued, where are the air inlets for the jet?, the original being rocket powered didn't have any but this model must have some pretty decent ones considering the amount of hot combusted air it's kicking out the back

Wowsers!!! Now, I'm more than impressed!!! Of all the one's (jet's) I've seen today, this was far, THE BEST!! Always liked the 'Komet', since I built models, as a kid. Very detailed, also!! Loved the 'wheel dolly', too😁. Did anyone see, the 🌈???

Somehow, before seeing this flight .....I might have under rated the design. But with the balance shown as power, an incredible domain as flight is observed in maneuver, in speed and superb control across what is shown to a flight envelope. Just a superb and excellent airframe example in the hands of a master. So well done. M.

Real good piloting skills, great built as well!
Very smooth and scale like flight. I'm very impressed with paint and weathering along with the extreme range of speed displayed. You are very smooth on the sticks. Entire flight was a 10. I'm planning on finishing my Komet in spring of 2022. It will be my first turbine. I look forward to seeing more videos of this plane in the future. Can you post a video of how you set up flight controls, along with radio set up, weight, location of turbine, mixes, and other pertinent info? Thanks Kirk

Wow, just wow. Hats off to the builder/pilot. Years ago I built and flew a slope soaring version of the Me163, based on a Brian Taylor plan, I think, about 48" wingspan. It was great fun but as nothing compared to this one.

Absolutely amazing. Fantastic flying, great camera work and a beautiful aircraft - just needs a Herman in the cockpit or something. Couldn't work out how it steers so well on the ground. I have a little electric 163 and its such a great flier, it got me into reading about Alexander Lippisch and so on but this is astounding.

I've read historical accounts of what the Allied Airmen found when they encountered ME-163s. They made the ball and top turret guns useless as they couldn't move at the speeds necessary to track and shoot down the faster smaller aircraft. The waist gunners had to quickly adjust as they were the only guns that could move fast enough. Same thing when the fighters engaged. They found that they had only a limited effect on the air raids, so they stayed high and when the speed differential equalized and they slowed on their decent back to base, they were easy targets for the Mustangs.
