Did I see in one of the shots that you've got spare hubs? Why don't you send those out for grinding now before you need them. That way when you do blow one and have to replace the one on the truck, it's all ready to go? Not to mention, once you get them back, it HAS to be easier to change the hub than grind for 4 hrs per hub PLUS having to make sure it's balanced properly..... Edit: just thinking (I know pretty dangerous for me hahaha) how much are those hubs? Buy up a dozen or so, work out a deal with a local machine shop, turn them all down and sell them on the monster truck market.....I'm not sure how often they break and have to be replaced....if it's once every 2 years then it's not worth it but if it's a common wear/break item, it might be.

Nothing makes me smile then seeing someone work their way to the top and make a dream a reality. Congrats Kevin 🎉. Love your RC vids and now I take joy in watching your work living out a dream. Your RC vids have really been a lot of help knowing the true durability. I don’t drive mine like you do but if I did I know what to expect. Hats off to Kevin. Keep on keeping on bud.
BeamNG is a great game, mainly use it because it has amazing options for tuning and modifying cars, almost any car the game comes with can be turned into a really quick racecar, sub 10 dragster, or an overpowered crawler. It's just all-round an incredible vehicle sandbox

The red beadlocks make it look frigging badass!
That is the moment you were waiting for! That monster truck in your garage so you can sit and have a cup of tea and salivate. Congratulations Kev! You certainly deserve it. You made your dream come true! Well done man.. well done 👏
the truck locks so agressive with the new tires. I love it.
Man, the dedication to grind those hubs down like that is inspirational! I do love these monster truck vids 👍👍
Daamn! I wouldn't have believed that one person could build a monster truck in a tiny garage as you have, let alone make it look as simple as building an RC car. Keep up the great work, can't wait to see more videos like this!

Anyone who doesn't appreciate KT simply does not understand how much goes into his projects. RC is one thing... this is a whole different level and he's killing it
Who knew you doing RC cars can lead to this big respects man 😎👌
The reason why it's harder to turn the hub by hand is due to the gear reduction in the hub. Basically the gearing is reversed so turning it from the hub is 'geared up' where as turning it from the drive shaft is 'geared down' if that makes sense.

@@KevinTalbotTV if you could find a way of using a long leverage bar without damaging the wheel studs that would probably be the safest way and save you from having to crawl under the truck and spin the drive shaft.

@@KevinTalbotTV starter motor while it's in gear? Just bump the starter, it might be hard on the starter though. I found something out just this week: some motorcycles that have reverse don't have a reverse gear in the transmission. They simply use the starter motor with the polarity in reverse, to turn the output shaft in reverse.....

@@MidwestFarmToys well he only wants the hubs to turn maybe 1/3 at a time to only move to the next section for grinding. Any more and he might as well do 1/2 at a time. In reality he could start it, put it in gear, and hold the grinder in one place and let the hub rotate.....kind of like a handheld lathe.
That's awesome you were able to get the tires on in the shop. Good job Kev 👍

I dont think I've ever been so happy to see a truck in a garage lol
Cool as Kev!
Kev's morning glory, big, red and now with a few extra inches!
In looking forward to the day when Kevin puts down a winning freestyle run, breaks something towards the very end, and the crowd hears him scream, "IT'S GETTIN' IT NOW!". 😁
Kev playing BeamNG was something I didn’t expect, but I love it, have been playing the game since 2015 and I’ve always loved it, played around with the monster trucks as well myself, it’s good fun
Now Kev can sit in his shop, have his cup of tea, and admire the truck
I’m exited to see another run of this beast love it
PS - you are an absolute legend! And importantly an inspiration to so many including me, showing us all that with commitment and hard work we can all achieve our dreams! 🤩
Kevin!! You do not want to use that Logitech wheel. Get yourself a proper wheel with a direct drive motor and your practice time will be much more valuable. The reason why is because that Logitech wheels is at best 1nm of torque and is driven by plastic gears / belt. Most budget direct drive wheels are at least 5nm and go all the way up to 30nm of torque for the expensive ones. A CSL DD from Fanatec starts at 5nm and the boost pack brings it up to 8nm. Also check out the Moza Racing stuff as they also have an r9 platform which gives 8nm as well. Fanatec just has some better wheel choices which might be more similar to the monster truck. I had a G27 Logitech wheel for a long time and once you upgrade to a solid mount instead of a table clamp, you'll easily over power the Logitech with your arms. If the goal is to setup a Sim rig to practice for future contests, you'll be much better off and get more muscle memory out of your practice with something stronger.
We need a RC meetup with special guest, Kev, here in the US!
You should build a jig next to make the wheel grinding process more painless. Something designed kind of like a knife sharpener or fender roller that helps you make the perfect radius. The aftermarket should just make things fit together in the first place though 😅. Your hard work is commendable! 👏

You need to paint the Raminator square body just like your monster truck.. best looking full scale MT I've seen!

YES! It's exciting to see the monster truck back in action soon!
BeamNG is a very good sim specially with mods! Would highly recommend getting a wheel sim rig, would be some cool content. 💯👌🏻
When you walk in to the shop and see it do you ever think ‘gosh dang it wasn’t a dream’ well done bloke
I love your enthusiasm and passion! August can't come soon enough. Also happy to something so different from the usual! cheers Kevin!
The reason you can't turn the wheels by hand is because you're working against the gear reductions in the hubs.

Congratulations Kev! Hard work pays off and it shows.
A lot of the people who made Beamng monsters possible is from a old online game Monster truck madness 2. (Mtm2draggers) glad to be apart of that era. Enjoy!
This goes to show...if you set goals and work hard you can get there
We need a vid of Kev riding one of the hoverboards 🤣🤣
It's awesome you get to live your dream Kev. I had a neighbor growing up that had a partnership in a 1st generation truck i think 1983 that he parked in the driveway at his house a few times and it was one of the greatest machines I had seen at that time. I was hooked from there out and knew Monster Trucks were going to be huge.

Kev: ahh it’s close enough! We’re not in it! Yeah not sure if that’ll work this time
Time for a bigger shop
Hey Kev little advice when you do sand blasting take all bearings & races out because it seems no matter how hard you try sand will get in there & give it a good cleansing with break clean & blow it out. Worked at a fabrication shop that did powder coating & sand blasting
Love your truck, wicked build!
Keep up the amazing work Kevin🙂

Perfect timing, Kev❤❤❤❤
The middle gear in the middle of the planetary hub is called a sun gear where the axle shaft spins the sun gear and the other gears in the hub
That is AWESOME. You are truly a ManChild worthy of respect. LMBO To build what you have built is no small accomplishment. Much respect Mr. Talbot.

Kev almost to 2 million!!! Your channel is seriously the only video's watch constantly. Seeing your vids got me inspired to get into rc cars and in the past 6 months I've bought some Amazon crap 16th scale and a 10th scale then went all out and got kraton 8s, and the e revo. Both are very different but I love them both... Thank you kev keep it up bro!!!
Nice work Kevin!! Looks epic sitting in the garage with all the wheels on it!! Good theft deterrent... try getting that out lol. Can't wait till August mate!!
I think you should invest in an old mill. You could cut the hubs down a standard size industrial mill with a rotary table. Mills do way more than a lave. Big hubs like that would need a big lave and you'd be limited on what you can machine.
Let's Go 🔥
Ooohhh Kev don’t get Greta all fired up !!

That was an epic update! OMG so much work!!! I could never do it, brother, but I love to see how much work it takes to maintain that beast. Respect!
pull the planetary cap and pull the sun gear out. or! just un lock the locker.... have someone push the transport tire in one direction (clockwise) and the one person on the other side pushing in the opposite direction (counterclockwise). but for that, you might still need a stud or two on still.
Man - running a real MT is a shat ton of work!! Kev is not afraid of rolllin up his sleeves, that's 4 sure!
Should have set up a little rest for the grinder with a stool for the person too - and start the monster truck with the wheels turning slowly - while you grind - sorta like a mini lathe - to get a more even grind around the entire hub.
john vaughan from slingshot mt here, really easy way to spin the hubs is take the end cap off the hub, remove the centre gear from the planetary this will uncouple the hub from the half shaft alowing it to spin free on the bearings 👍 hope this helps
You’re having too much fun,I’m really liking this
