To answer your question: marble is made of...marble. It's a type of rock lol. But if you wanna get technical: Marble is a metamorphic rock composed of recrystallized carbonate minerals, most commonly calcite or dolomite. Marble is typically not foliated, although there are exceptions. In geology, the term marble refers to metamorphosed limestone, but its use in stonemasonry more broadly encompasses unmetamorphosed limestone.

Hey, Guys! Got a suggestion for you! You should think about creating some sort of launch system (maybe like a seesaw, which I’m sure would need to either be very sturdy or easily replaceable!) with which you’d use the giant hammer. You could also compete with each other to predict distances of the various objects you’d launch. Thanks for all the entertainment, and Merry Christmas!

That glass cube was incredible to watch! Just shattered into dust. lol Still curious how a glass sphere would handle the hammer though. While it may do the same as the cube, the shape could also have a huge impact on its strength. The edges of the cube create weak spots that may be what allowed the force of the impact to shatter it the way it did. The sphere, without those edges, may react more like a Prince Rupert's drop, which can withstand a hammer blow or even a bullet impact without shattering. Either way, it should be a lot of fun to watch.

When another vid like this (with things likely to shrapnel out a lot), you should see if you can get some ballistics gel dummies (probably attached to some plywood of some kind to keep propped up) so you can show just how bad of an idea it would be to stand outside the bunker :D And for the glass sphere vs. cube, I'm fairly certain it comes down to each point on the surface of the sphere having an equal distance across for the whole of the object, while the cube has more "fracturable" locations (corners, edges). That being said, a glass sphere would also get obliterated by the hammer in possibly a more dangerous fashion than the cube (perfect for that ballistics-gel dummy idea :D)

Well you did four of my suggestions from last week, paint cans, fridge, TV, and the porcelain toilet. Plus the car springs are ready for action which makes five. More for next week- A personal item from each HR member, rock paper scissors decides what get hammered and what doesn't 😄. A big block of ice. An arm chair with a mannequin sitting in it. A bathtub full of grapes (lets make wine!). A bucket of golf balls. A pile of old printers, copiers, and computers (they deserve what they get). A filing cabinet (how flat will it be?). A motor cycle or scooter. Plastic water jugs full of water. A lawn mower. And 44 eggs, "lets give it the raw egg test" as they say on those TV add)

Marble is metamorphosed limestone. Basically, the shells of tiny vertebrates that have died and littered the bottom of a shallow, warm sea. Those shells than get covered up, over millions of years, by sediments. Eventually they compress into limestone by the sediments, and other geologic forces (read: Tectonic), The limestone is then further compressed and heated by geologic forces (Tectonic), and turned onto marble. This whole process can take hundreds of millions of years.

Try placing a leaf blower so it's pushing air past the front of one of the cameras, but a short distance away to see how much debris it can deflect away from the lens. If it works that would be great for the messy smashes where liquids get sprayed everywhere.

Many years ago when watching a Formula 1 race taking place in the rain, I spotted how they kept the tv camera lenses on the cars from getting raindrops on & spoiling things for the viewers - there was a fast spinning clear plastic disc in front of the lens, any water landing on it would be immediately spun off, so the camera could still see perfectly well. Another idea to keep in mind?

The thing about glass is that it has a very high compressive strength, meaning that you have to press down on it very hard to shatter it, but very low shear strength, meaning you can snap a pane of glass in half quite easily. This is what created the coney-joneys; the impact point was able to support the weight of everything that pushed down on it (everything within a certain angle above it). But everything that was outside that cone was not supported, had to be pulled up by the glass above it which is much weaker and thus snapped off. With the cube you have a lot of corners that can snap off (especially because the hammer hits the cube at a very slight angle) which allows the hammer to weaken the cube until it eventually breaks catastrophically along millions upon millions of internal fractures. That being said, I doubt a sphere would hold up much better. 2 tons dropping 7 meters still contains a lot more energy than 100 kilos dropping 45 meters.
