GIANT CATFISH on the Mighty Miss (CATCH & COOK) | Field Trips Mississippi

Спорт

In this episode we've made it down to Vicksburg, MS to fish for river monsters in the Mississippi River with legendary guide Bob Crosby. He's showing us some unique techniques for targeting huge blue and flathead catfish, and we're using electronics to find the fish. Then, back in my RV, we're showing you my favorite way to fry up catfish with the ultimate made-from-scratch tartare sauce. This is EXACTLY how river fishing goes. Cats will let baits soak and lay right next to them for hours. Flat heads will run in and attack, but blues will lay and take a nap knowing the food source will be there. I lived in St. Louis and really only fished and snagged for spoonbill which you were talking about in the video also. Snagging season I ruled from the shore with a 15 foot ugly stick and shimano baitrunner. You popped lots of carp also, which are the invasive species. Happy hunting!!

One way I have found to batter my fish is putting seasoned croutons in the food processor and just use the egg yolks to wet them before breading. It's preseasoned, and is really good. I do it with walleye alot, but it is good with catfish too. Nice thing is you can make it as crunchy, or not, as you like. *BTW, saw you showing BB King, my brother was BB's attorney. He kept my brother on retainer for years.

... 20:38 ... Tip for anyone, When you net the the fish, especially a heavy one, hold the handle vertically. Point the handle to the sky, grab the hoop at the top and lift the fish. This will prevent bending/breaking the net hoop at the connection point to the net hub (where the hoop and handle connect) I have had 2 different clients lift heavy fish horizontally and break hoop on nets. . Jeff .

Need to come to PA and hit the susquehanna for flatheads. I think we have arguably the best flathead fishery in the country right now. Not the biggest, but i would argue that it would be hard to beat the lower suskie as far as numbers of 30# -40# fish. I feel blessed to live here.

Huge tip from old timers of my past. To rid most fish blood lines. Doesn't matter what fish, I use a pair of wire cutters and cut through 3 to 5 gill bones on each side for fish I'm keeping to eat. Many times I put fish on a rope back into the water. This keeps them cold while they bleed out. Once they are past I put them on ice. You will definitely notice the bloodline is gone or very minimal during cleaning your catches.

Then could fish right next to dam and even throw your bait where fish came out of lift, course steel grate door got a lot of lures(buck tails) kids had a ball watching fish go pass the windows , even saw a bottle nose sturgeon , they also milk the stripper's for raising.

I've been considering trapping some raccoons that have taken up residence in my attic but was told that if we release them in the woods a mile away they will find their way back within a couple of days or other raccoons will take over the attic. So I'm going to trap them and cook them up instead. I've never eaten raccoon so I was hoping to get suggestions on what is the best way to eat them, stewed, stir fried, etc. Also, what is the risk of catching rabies from eating raccoon if it doesn't have symptoms? Thanks. Stay Safe. Be Well. GOD BLESS.

Catfish seem to be lazy like they sit in the river current and wait for the current to bring the food...then the time I caught a 15 pound catfish on a float line with nightcrawler..
