GIANT Alaskan SEA DRAGON! Catch Clean Cook (Ling Cod)
Спорт
This is the second video from @brookcristoutdoors and I trip up to Seward Alaska! We fished with Off the Dock Charters out of Seward Harbor. The first day we got on Giant halibut, lingcod, and rockfish. I separated the videos based on species, so there is still plenty of big fish and action left. Brook and I saw our first ever glacier and were able to get some drone footage for you guys! Lingcod are often nicknamed sea dragons due to thier crazy morphology and body! I made baked ling cod, with a potato curry and stir fry vegetables for dinner. Hope you enjoy!

I just watched the Alaska Halibut C, C, and Cook, prior to this video. I was sooooo happy to see how wonderful the trip went for you and yours... The cook 'n' eat with family and friends was the perfect demonstration of the Best Things In Life... Then.., I anxiously awaited the Ling Cod C, C, and Cook. I was hoping that you would catch a female. They have a translucent Emerald Green Flesh! It's amazing and shocking the first time you see it.., (Green Fish and Ham..! But then, it turns white when cooked) I had to smile when everyone agreed that Ling Cod tasted better than Halibut. That was the surprise I was waiting for! I chuckled when you were leary because of the "slimy" first impression. They are The Best. Period. I think that's why they've been over fished in the West Coast waters... They were one of the first species to be nearly wiped out in the Lower 48 waters. There used to be an entire industry built around Ling Cod commercial fishing... Because!!! 🎶 "They're The Best That's Ever Been. 🎶 And! They're still doing well in Alaska's waters. We can only hope and pray that limits and regulations can allow them to recover, here in the Pacific North West waters... 🙏 Thanks again for the trip down memory lane. You --- DO --- have the best job, BTW. Happy for you. ☺️
Tell me this isn't the craziest looking fish you've ever seen!Hope you guys are enjoying these videos so far!

Wow, I have no clue why you came up in my utube feed. I am a native Texan but my dad was 3/4 Finnish American 1/4:Swedish and my mother 3/4 German and 1/4 Swedish so I am drooling over all the fish and glaciers, too. Finns eat fish for breakfast , lunch and dinner. Happy video , guys!!
You kids are great! You travel the world to fish and record the events for us. Thanks you so much! The things you and Brooke do I’ll never do in my lifetime so I completely enjoy your videos. Thank you both so very much. Now if only you could come and cook for my wife and I!
Here in NW Montana we have fresh water ling cod in our reservoir. But when I went to fish for King crab in the Bering sea the first thing we did was rig ten pots for cod ,,we caught 10,000 pounds of cod just to use for bait with a mix of herring and cigar minnow. God bless my young friend Nick Mcglashin. RIP. Nice video guys

I love how he effortlessly gaffed that fish and when you started talking he had to pause with the bat in his hands lol.
There is nothing more fun than jigging the rock piles for lings. Glad you got the cheeks! Not many people do that here.
That lingcod is a monsssterrrr!!!!!!!🐉🐉🐉🐉
You want to bump up your Asian flavor profile, start using Oyster Sauce (1/2 tbsp) and a 1 tsp of sugar to your marinades.

YEP YOU ARE DEAD ON WITH THAT. YOU FROM HAWAII TOO ?
I’ve had lingcod and halibut side by side years ago in Alaska fresh off a charter boat. My friend prepared it with a basic recipe that was a bake with salt, pepper and lemon. Hands down lingcod is the best tasting fish in Alaska. Halibut and salmon are both good. But… Lingcod is more flavorful and has a natural oil in the meat similar to blackcod that makes it melt in your mouth with 0 aftertaste. My favorite fish hands down!!
@steez5769

Also I think cod is better battered and deep fried whereas halibut is better baked or grilled.

So cool! I love the videos that you both put out. I discover both your channels about a week ago and I’ve been watching non stop. You two are so good at appreciating and sharing the amazing experiences you have. Doing it really well. 👍 I grew up hiking and fishing in the Uinta and Wasatch mountains of Utah. I’ve caught lots of trout in my life. But, The fish you guys catch blow my mind! I went salmon fishing on the Oregon coast once with some friends. The most exciting fishing I’ve ever done. When you have a King or Silver salmon on the line, you can feel the power. Been to Alaska once. It was a family trip on a cruise ship, so we were pretty insulated from the real Alaska. But still, the beauty of the landscape! 🤯 Your videos are definitely inspiring me to plan some trips! Alaska, baby!

Lol, still recall the first three foot lingcod, to come into the boat. Fishing for sole/rockfish on the bottom and my buddy was drifting a herring, half up, in the water column. Expecting a salmon it was quite comical when two of us recoiled to the bow while he was yelling "net it". Certainly a prime eating fish and fun to catch.
Your video quality and cinematography is growing so immensely. Insane work Land shark for life.
Awesome video Viktor!! Your videos are some of the best of the best on You Tube. Been to Alaska 3 times now, and it is definitely the most gorgeous spot on the earth. A few years ago we were lucky enough to go in September when the sun shined 80% of the time and it was in the 70's. So much fun.

Loved the videos and Happy you guys made it up here to have FUN and catch a few fish !! While i LOVE Alaska , I enjoy watching you and Brook traveling around every where having FUN !! :)
Oh, man! My heart was already pounding when you caught the Dragon. Never seen it before. What a beautiful fish that grew for many many years just for you. But the rest of the video was amazing! The respect you display for your catch is, well, beyond words. That's what we all should do when fishing: all the adrenaline and passion of the process is transformed into pure joy for friends and family. That dish is something I might never even be close to, but I'll try your recipe with grouper. Chapeau!

Ling is my favorite fish ever. 40 lbers are a great size!
Victor my dude here's the Strat on lingcod. To clean one take a knife with the fish on its stomach Ram it through the head and nail it to the dock. Hunting knife works best. Wring the neck like a deer leg just cutting through the skin slightly deep complete circle grab some pliers and pulled the skin off like taking the pants off of a bullfrog. Then fillet total game changer.
Ah man, that looks good LOL. Thanks for sharing!
Just from the thumbnail I now understand ancient map art better
Love the video Vic, as always, so glad you headed north and had such a fantastic time in Alaska, it shows! Just a thought, you can up your cooking game by heading to your nearest Asian market and buying better quality sauces, soy, sweet chili, etc...
