I painted the primer..everyone loved the black so I just top coated it.

might have to try it the house I moved into has blah tan countertops in the bath.....You are moving again?

How durable is it? I have this ugly melamine in my kitchen and can't afford granite or marble

I too had the ugly melamine. So far it's holding up. I made one scratch with my Xacto knife as I was removing the tape, but I covered it with an oil-based paint pen. Kids have been instructed to use a soft cloth to wipe it down- no scrubbing or scratchy cleansers.
