👉Giacomo Zoffoli: a winged Mercury at auction, an exceptional bronze
Zoom in today on a work by 18th-century sculptor Giacomo Zoffoli, Flying Mercury.
This bronze is directly inspired by the Flying Mercury created by the great bronzer
Mannerist Jean de Bologne in 1580 to decorate the fountain in the loggia of the Villa Medici in Rome, and now kept at the Bargello Museum in Florence.
