I knew Larry Hamma was a Vietnam Vet. I didn’t know he was a specialist in the form of a Tunnel Rat. A Highly specialized skill back then in the service. GI Joe is soo cool. We need these type of Joes again 🇺🇸

My favorite scene is Big Lob and Tunnel Rat in their exercise, such awesome play by play dialogue. "And the crowd goes bananas!"

Beachhead is one of the best GI Joes, Former Army Ranger and Delta Operator. Trained in CQB and Weapons. Been in the service for a very long time, was always the first one thur the door on raids. Duke always said he wished everyone was like beachhead. Hawk always wanted beachhead as a cadre

According to his file, Beachhead is also extremely level-headed and cool most of the time. The reason he acts so annoyed here is because the thing that pisses him off the most are slackers...soldiers that don't give their 100%. And he got a big fat dose of that here with these "rawhides."

Aw, the debuts of Jynx and Tunnel Rat; we didn't know it at the time, but these new characters would become classic mainstays of the franchise.

I liked all the recruits. It’s a shame Big Lob never got a figure in the original line. All the others did.

Drill Instructors are for the Marines and Drill Sergeant is for the Army. Beachead is an Army Drill Sergeant. All Drill Sergeants and Drill Instructors demand Excellence

Why are they bothering to train anyone else? They've got a guy who can pick up a missile, toss it at a tank and then emerge UNSCRATCHED when said missile and tank blow up a few feet away! Everyone else should just go home. :)

Only time ever someone felt sorry for Beach Head. 😂

I'd say I kinda felt sorry for him in "The Most Dangerous Thing In The World". But then, I felt sorry for MOST Joes in that episode. XD

Rocket, not gun The vehicle malfunctioned and didn't shoot the projectile, so he BECAME the rocket launcher and shot it by hand. He was one combat knife away from being Brock Sampson.

What I've read is that the makers of this movie changed Duke's fate because this movie came out just a few months after the Transformers Generation 1 movie and they were still in shock over the death of Optimus Prime.

​@@DOI_ARTS We may disagree, but I think that the point of Duke's death in that film was to remind those of us in the audience that good soldiers like Duke pass in EVERY war (be it a major war, a minor conflict, et cetera.) and that EACH ONE's sacrifice is lamentable.

Beachhead was always one of my favorite action figures. I used him like the Joe's version of Firefly

Beachhead needs to understand everyone has different ways to solve a problem. if everyone follows protocol for everything new ways wouldn't have been found to defeat cobra. Like Big Lob was a distraction in tunnel rat was side assistance at the end.

Tunnel rat was my favorite GI.Joe toy. Unless you count Zandar, then Zandar was my favorite GI.Joe toy (if you don't count Rolling Thunder or 'Defiant' the Space complex, vehicles). Man they don’t make cartoons like this anymore ... this episode is an instant classic ..

I feel like this is the first training you do in Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker.

Very good retro scope animation on the dog when he first came in. Jinx is awesome! Big Lob and Tunnel Rat were hilarious. Any army soldier that can hurl a large missile with his bare hands deserves an honorable mention .

Hahahaha. Tunnel Rat's toting a sweet revolver (hand cannon), and all he has to do is crawl through a pipe, emerge, and blast the shit outta the laser-turret with one shot. Big Lob's journey to successful completion of this evolution seems a little tougher, lol. Interesting factoid: I read that actual tunnel rats in Vietnam preferred revolvers because they were more reliable in filthy, muddy, confined spaces than magazine-fed auto-type pistols. Less rounds, but more likely to work through malfunctions and the horrible conditions you'd find in a tunnel system. Love this attention to detail and this video.

Beachhead is a big mood

I had chuckles but because he never spoke in the movie I didn't know if he was a mute or something. So I never had him speak lol

Big Lob was technically the hero in all this....he was the one to crash the vehicle into that plant that held the rest of the Joe's captive later in the movie.

There are so many masked characters in GI joe, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Beach head, Torpedo, Firefly, the Cobra Troopers and Cobra Commander. As a kid, I used to think that they were all ninjas.

"I hope you both get FLEAS!" " The word is when you're around, things go wrong!" - Beach Head.

“Next time, Chuckles, use the rocket launcher” Hahahahaha

I know who would have made a great actor to play Beach Head in the live action version....Bill Paxton. Watching this brings back so many memories

Full Metal Jacket came out around the same time as this movie. R. Lee Ermey would have had to tone down his language for the cartoon. But if they eliminated all restrictions, I would imagine him saying to Tunnel Rat and Big Lob, "quickly. God damn, you two move slower than old people fuck".

And yet that "D-Team of Joes" saved the entire Gi Joe Team when they were captured in Cobra La. If it wasn't for them, Gi Joe would've been finished

yea but he wants them to stick to the training regime. most drils are like that. but i think that he is secretly proud of his recruits when they pass. he is the type of guy that you hate at base but your glad he is on your side in combat.

@@xrosswilson1793 This is true. Drills are generally prepared to improve your overall health, endurance and stamina as well as prepare you for whatever you face. Them not following it kind of defeats the purpose of going through drills. On the other hand, in actual combat Beach Head is way more accepting of individual quirks since results are what matters on the field.

Order fetching the bomb after Beachhead throws it is fucking peak.

Too bad they didn't have Gunnery Sergeant R. Lee Ermey from Full Metal Jacket as a GI Joe drill instructor. He would give them very colorful code names.

Ya gotta love that this film not just had bits for the kids... but also for the adults *and* those in the Military. Beachheads line of "AND DON'T CALL ME SIR!" might seem off, given he is her (Jynx) superior... but he's _not_ an officer. He's an NCO... and he's Army as well. Army NCOs are *never* called "Sir/Ma'am". They're referred to either by the their full rank (in Beach's case, it'd be Staff Sgt), or an abbreviated version of the rank where possible. Also I love how he completely fails to notice that Chuckles did in fact try to use the weapons correctly... but they suffered a misfire. Which means that if he was trying to use the ATGMs on the side and that's the one that misfired, getting it off the tank was the correct move (since its warhead is now live)... yeeting it at the HISS may have been a bit much... but it worked.

My favorite Joe!

Tunnel rat and Jinx was also in GI Joe renegades.

Jinx is a boss.

You'd think these guys would be a little more squared away if theyre being considered for the Joe team. 😂😂
