The Boneworks physics engine and mods alone makes that game worth the price. Everything else, not so much.

@@repvoid7680what? In my experience all VR games are actually quite cheap. On every other platform the baseline is 60-70 usd. Vr games are usually only 20-40 usd.

Thanks for the straight up review dude! After seeing everything I've seen so far, this is just another live service shell of a game with promise of later content for more money. I don't know if I'm just growing tired of every game wanting me to invest all my time, all of the time, but I've seen a lot of live service forever games that never delivered on their season passes etc. This seems to be carried by it's IP, but I also noticed that the Ghosts looked more like Monsters than ghosts.

Very disappointed about the poor graphics for the Quest 3 😔

Good job Mike! Thanks for the honest review. It’s a Halloween cash grab. Game isn’t worth 10 bucks and Meta has no Quality Control. What’s worse is there ls a couple of big KZreadr who are going to rate this game as well as they rate every single game meta launch’s. Starting to wonder is these guys are on a payroll. Going to end up like Atari if they don’t stop selling crap like this at that price point.

Starting to wonder is these guys are on a payroll :) I proved this was the case and tried to get various content creators to expose this. I even contracted PC Gamer, IGN etc. No one even replied despite damming evidence. Corruption is standard practice in the VR content creator space thanks to Meta money.

As soon as I saw the *FIRST* teaser and trailer, with NONE of the *actual* original equipment in it and then the fortnight avatar characters... I knew this game wasn't made for me.... At least we still have "Ghostbusters: The Videogame" absolutely legendary that game is, all I ever wanted was a VR version of that AAA game and we'd be fine...

The ghost designs to me feel more reminiscent to the real ghost busters cartoon and I like the direction,but hope to see more variety with it. I personally would of liked a focused solo story akin to the 2007 ghost busters, with the online just there to play with friends or a phasmo type game of finding and capturing the ghost

I'm gutted. I'm a die hard GB fan, and had been looking forward to this game for ages. Thought I'd better check out the reviews before buying it, and they pretty much all married up with your impressions. I'm not wasting a load of money on such an underwhelming effort.

In the same boat as you. Just FYI, last week I bought GB Spirits Unleashed, (just out on Steam, on sale!) not expecting much, and found a quite decent multiplayer game that's fun and that stays pretty close to what I'd expect from a Ghostbusters game. It's a flat screen game, but they're already working on a free VR mod.

I think with a patch for some options like smooth turning speed adjustments and content this game will just get better. I believe in this studio and have no doubt they will bring some great material to this title. With that being said, thanks for your insights. I always appreciate Your opinion and insights. Die hard gb fan here. I'm fine with the original cast not being in it as I assumed getting likeness licensing or whatever it is difficult. I like the RGB/Extreme GB style it has. The upgrade system is decent. But it needs more than 12 ghosts, 3 of which you see over and over and over again. More maps and more ghosts and I think itl win over more people.

Imagine this. They run with the characters from the 80's tv cartoon show. All the unlockable outfits and weapons are the entire toy range they brought out, like Screaming Hero's, Slimed Hero's, Fright Features etc. The ghosts are all from the show and toy line. Bonus Ghostbusting characters could include Louis Tully, Janine Melnitz and Slimer from the Fright Features range. Now look at this. As a huge fan this is just sad and disappointing.

This has SO much potential! How about solving puzzles with some stakes? Like maybe one person solves a door puzzle with science notes from earlier in a stage while the others try to catch ghosts that fill the room with slime and you have solve the door _and_ catch the ghost before you drowned in said slime? Or have branching paths, have one team of two go to one closeby location while the other two have to drive the Ecto-1 to a location further away and you both have to communicate to turn off the power to a building while capturing ghosts on the road. Heck, have someone play as Slimer and use his ability to phase through walls to check for booby traps up ahead but you also have to keep feeding him. It practically writes itself! 😂 But nah, zap ghosts, thats enough. 🙄

I share your opinion, the same thing happened to me with the game, I expected it a lot and in the end it disappointed me and I refunded it, which is really a shame because it is not a bad idea but it is poorly executed

A video so good I watched it twice

One of the other big gripes is not being able to adjust the speed of smooth turning. It is making me sick because of how slow you turn with smooth turning turned on. This should be standard on all vr games.

Their are far more major problems in San Francisco than cartoony ghosts.

I would have loved a Phasmo-style mode where you have to determine the category of ghost in order in the first half to choose the best equipment with which to capture the ghost with in the second half. Ghosts would have different strengths and weaknesses so if you equipped the proton thrower instead of the slime blower or the gigameter instead of the PKE taser you'd have a much harder time capturing the ghost.

Thing is us people who have nostalgia for the original story are now 40yrs old+ and mostly an ageing generation now, whereas they probs want to target a younger market, hence the Fortnite looking style.

I think that there are so many older VR gamers out there now. You have resident evil, exorcist, blair witch.... why not go down that road for ghostbusters too :) Even the disney + goosebumps is more darker than ever... :) teens like to be scared a bit too.....

Why the hell would you make a ghost busters game and not have anyone from the ghostbusters films😂 madness

Starting to get really worried about why would any Quest 2 owner buy the Quest 3 right now. A title like Ghostbusters was revealed 2 years ago and was considered like a "big" announcement and here we are with an unfinished game with DLC ! How many interesting Quest 3 games so far ? 2 ? Maybe 3 ?

There was never going to be any reason to buy a Quest 3 if you have a Quest 2. All the big games are still releasing on a Quest 2, and most will continue to release on Quest 2 due to the larger player base.

@@leonkennedy3398 There has been no confirmation. People are only speculating that the Quest 3 will see exclusive games next year. But that entirely based on how well the Quest 3 moves this holiday season. But after this holiday, there is no further big release announced. 3rd party developers aren't going to dump the quest 2, its player base is too big. Meta next big first party release will probably be 2025 with Ready at Dawn probably announcing their new game next year.

I’m like you Mike. Big fan of the 1980’s Ghost Busters. This game for me is disappointing. I hope the kids have fun in it though!

I actually really like this game on psvr2. The adaptive triggers and setting traps feels good

I wish they had just remastered ghostbusters the video game in VR. That'd make me happier than erm whatever this is. It feels like all the money went to pay off the license fee and I hope someone makes a ghost game that's darker and more in spirit to ghostbusters. Such a shame. I hope they don't botch Stranger things too.

Wait a minute, so you mean to tell me that Meta used the CGI MR footage of mini stay pufts in your living room, but don't have an enhanced version made for the Quest 3?😂 I bought the Quest 3 when it came out and so far the only game I like on it is Espire, the campaign... I tried Hubris and it sucked imo

Knew it was probably going to be bad from the very first trailer. Not surprised unfortunately. VR really needs some great games, fast. Looking at you PS VR2 👀

Hey Mike. I have a suggestion for a future video please. And that's because everything I hear about the QUEST 3 makes me believe it could finally be the headset that replaces my original RIFT at that medium price point - except for one crucial thing. As I'm hearing from multiple VR Channels that the thing only lasts for 1 1/2 hours on it's battery (or there abouts?), and even with those add-on batteries it doesn't help much. So as a Sim Racer, I can race for 3-6 hours straight, so it's just not good enough for what I need it for at the moment. So my request is if you ever come across a solution where you could run it more as a long-term PC-VR unit, maybe using some sort of USB HUB & external batteries to make it last just an hour or two longer. I'm sure many people like me who are not interested at all in using it as a "stand-alone" as it's main purpose, would love to hear about a solution to run it more as that original PC-VR SIM Headset if possible?

I`m sure if you play using the link cable it lasts much longer as it is constantly recharging the battery. Just bare in mind that these non native VR headsets require the GPU to compress the image degrading image quality and performance (halving it in some cases). Personally I`m going to keep my rift-s until the Valve Deckard releases. Even a second hand G2 would be a better choice than Q3 IMO or the cheap DPVR E4.

Yeah, very good point about the G2, Decedant. But other channels are already saying that the "link cable" isn't helping with battery life as much as first thought? To be honest, the Valve Deckard would also be my preferred go-to as well. But I'm expecting it to be more around the 1,000-1500 US dollar mark (but one can only hope it will be cheaper than that? ; ). Thanks for the comment.

I got the game for psvr 2 and I cant play online and the is some problem with the audio and yes I was on wi fi when I tried to get into an online game

Whenever people say a game is boring it's usually not challenging. Any game is boring if you don't ever feel like you're in danger. It just become repetitive. Challenge is the most essential part of any game.

As for the aesthetic of everything, especially the ghosts... I feel like they actually went for the cartoon look and especially the old toy designs.

I was really looking forward to this game. Disappointing to hear it has repetitive issues.

This is a big blow for N Dreams I’m not sure how they are gonna turn this around. Could seriously ruin their reputation as they are a decent studio! The game needs lots more content, direction and replay value. I will buy it when it reaches that stage.

So sadly it‘s just another case of a company not understanding it‘s core demographics… nor the source material… I was sooooo looking forward to this game as I really love the original Ghost Busters…

I bought the game yesterday and although it’s a little underwhelming it’s still a fun game to play and I hope it gets more content and it will have a redemption like No Man’s Sky did

Im sure they will sell the OG busters for $20 a pop or put it in the season pass.

But just like spirits unleashed, it will get updates in the future, just like all games nowadays, games aren’t complete when released, in a few months we could get new game modes and more, gotta be patient and give it a chance

I am a fun of Ghostbusters. I can understand the absence of original team, but I hate the “fornite” looking characters, as you called them! This aspect shows you the target of the game, and at the same time that you can forget suspense, exciting ghost hunting, and all the nice mechanics present in the last PC game. Sorry, I was excited for this game, but I completely agree with you and Nathie.

I just want to know are there any jump scares in the game and if so how meny

I think how to make the game better Randomle generated Areas maybe after missions you can go to maybe See Ray and go to his shop and get powers and maybe new equipment some of the ghosts from the Ghostbusters remastered game and maybe SumOf the old cast and now

Not one I'll be picking up for my Quest 3.

I tested this game last year and I can see that they hardly cleaned it up at all. The most noticable change is they used a version of the OG ecto-1. They originally had the ecto from the reboot women Ghostbusters.

Needs a string narrative - like the first movie then it will fly - currently a huge wasted opportunity 😢

When this was announced I was really looking forward to it. I don't care about graphics, as long as everything else hits the spot. However, this looks like nothing hits the spot. I'm a massive Ghostbusters fan, but I will be letting this one go, before it haunts me.

I don’t know what everyone obsession with having the original cast in everything. People need to move on.

So I bought this 2 days ago and I’ve already played all there maps and missions and not I’m just bored

I'm put off from this because of the gameplay theme which appears to be, wander around and stuff floaty creatures in a box. This isn't what the original Ghostbusters was about. There was far more character, humor and adventure in that movie.

Ooof, RIP Fakebusters. I really hoped for a good game but looks like they slacked hard core on it 😢 this shouldn't even be called Ghostbusters its a completely different game.

And maybe every 10 mission you can fight the ghost lord weakening tham every time and When he’s down to the last of his health he’s taking down and you win and maybe a endless mode and all

Yeah, I wasn’t too impressed with it. Spent $70 on 2 headsets, played for an hour and I’m pretty much done with it. Had more fun playing VRC spooktacular titles for free.

Cash grab game.. feels like VR is turning into this thanks to Facebook (known as Meta) :) Remember when was the last time Insomniac or any non-indie developer made a VR game?

What? You have never failed? And the extreme missions are definitely harder and this game does require communication and cooperation. And there is a slimer mode coming

I'm sorry but it's plain as day that VR is nowhere close to living up to its full potential maybe three or four games, but there are more consoles than amazing games for VR right now.

Yes, VR is dying thanks to the lack of decent games. After the Praydog mod releases there will be thousands of Unreal engine games to play in VR and THAT is the only reason I still have some hope for the future of VR.

A completely wasted opportunity. It wouldn't have taken much to align this more with the franchise. Unfortunately, they decided to cash grab early and launch at halloween to get in that return ASAP. A wasted chance.

If it makes you bored why is it so sad that there is no PC release?

Good review. It was obvious how this was going to turn out after the previews and then withholding of review keys. Yet another lazy cash grab that VR doesn`t need right now. Sony should be ashamed.

It seems this game is targeted at kids with the art style and simplistic repetitive gameplay.
