Ghostbusters was a massive success in 1984, but it took more than half a decade for the world to get a second one! Why? I don’t know. That information is probably available on Google. Reasons, presumably.
Ghostbusters 2 definitely raises some questions. Like did they just redo every beat of the first movie but slightly different? Is Venkman even a Ghostbuster or are we just following his love life? And most importantly, how did everyone forget that ghosts exist?!
To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to Ghostbusters 2!

Because they're the antagonists. That makes sense. And they're friends with these Nazi guys and they wanna take over the world too. But how can they BOTH take over the world? Shut up. Yeah this is the sloppiest pitch meeting I’ve ever seen. Usually all his points are right on the money but so many are off here. He totally half assed this one. Like the whole “aren’t they famous from the first movie” when the movie totally shows they are still famous! The opening scene has them at a birthday party. Crowds cheering for them at court. Just because a few characters don’t recognize them or don’t believe in ghosts doesn’t mean EVERYONE feels that way. Think of the world we live in. We went to the moon and like 40% of people think it was faked. Shit some people believe the world is flat! Just because people see something doesn’t mean they believe it,

Summoning ghosts, making people angry, making people euphoric, making a toaster dance, animating the statue of liberty, defeating a wizard, changing a painting, those are all miracles. And yes the slime was both created from the emotions of the people of the city and imparts emotions to the people. This is called a feedback loop.

Alright, so fun fact, I first saw Ghostbusters 2, in its entirety, in an MRI. The thing is I wasn't supposed to be in there that long, but the MRI broke while I was inside it. I was born in the mid 90s, so I don't have a real attachment to Ghostbusters as a franchise, but I remember the visual elements of Ghostbusters 2 better than any other element of the franchise. Not any of the audio though, because it was muted by the broken MRI.

I’m glad you did this to draw attention to the fact that the second Ghostbusters movie was on parody with the new Ghostbusters sequel. They are both kind of ridiculous, but they are fun.

The first Ghostbusters is super good but also somehow underrated despite its already popular. This is a movie as well.
