I think the funniest part about a new Godzilla movie and a new Ghostbusters movie releasing on the same week is that they both released on each other’s respective anniversary year. Ghostbusters on its 40th and Godzilla on its 70th.

Godzilla Minus One is a beautiful, artistic masterpiece. Godzilla X Kong has a big monkey beating two other big monks up using a fourth, smaller monkey as a club. As far as I'm concerned, they are both excellent films.

13:30 The novelization puts a sad spin on it, Godzilla is sleeping there because it reminds him of his old home from King of the Monsters.

Godzilla Minus One and GXK are two different movies that have two different tones, which is why I love both of them so much. Minus One honors the '54 original, and GXK honors the Showa era with its over the top plots and epic battles. Its the perfect blend of seriousness of and action that I'm really glad the franchise is still going with

The whole scene in Egypt had me rolling on the floor. So much character going on between Godzilla and Kong, and Mothra too swooping in to put Goji in his place.

I went in with no expectations just wanted pure monster mayhem with my wife and son, and we got what we wanted. My son (4 years old) sat through the whole movie knowing the characters from having the toys and seen the previous movies. We were high fiving and yelling with joy at the fights and seeing mothra was a nice surprise that the trailers didn’t spoil. He liked minus one but couldn’t really get into it because of the subtitles, so this was perfect for the whole family. A really fun experience, and just pure silly sci fi galore. I don’t mind a serious amazing award winning Godzilla movie, but I also love the idea of off the wall bonkers Godzilla that can have laughs and cheers. 😅

It's hilarious that you say Godzilla acted like a cat, because Adam Wingard came out and said that he based a lot of Godzilla's mannerisms on his cat Mischief. ... A cute sad moment was when Ray smiled (when he saw the ghostbusters car drive by his shop fast with the sirens on). You could feel the memory through his smile. It was very heart warming

Loved Frozen empire, made me feel like I was there in the firehouse. It’s not perfect but I had fun and people laughed a lot on my theatre.

I love that there is room for a serious Godzilla movie and a BIG CREATURES PUNCH EACH OTHER Godzilla movie and both nailed what they were going for.

I find it concerning that many media giants are just remaking or creating sequels of older properties. It's as though creativity, originality, and imagination have fallen off.

Godzilla suplexing Kong had me screaming in the theater. My sons and I had a blast seeing it

The reason why Mothra was in the movie was because she was originally supposed to be an original monstee. However, test audiences didn’t like the design, so the studio asked Toho if they can use Mothra instead.

Apparently, Mothra was intended from the start, but they didn't have the rights to her initially and used a new kaiju until they actually got the rights

when he was talking about being honored to still have people wanting to hear his opinions on movies, I was like, James, I have been WAITING since this movie was announced to hear his opinion on it, haha! When it comes to horror, monsters, and film making, James is the best reviewer I know of!

Its Ironic that Patton Oswald was one of the guys to blast you on twitter from the 2016 no review I refuse video and now he is in the Frozen Empire movie.

Kinda shows what type of guy James is…an honest, and forgiving type of guy. He didn’t let Patton sour his experience and still enjoyed the movie. I’ll be honest, when I saw Patton in the trailer it made me slightly less excited to see the movie, all due to Oswald’s Twitter attack.

One monster I do want to see is Biollante. Unlike certain other monsters that were the result of humanity's general foolishness(including OG Godzilla), Biollante was the result of one person. In the original the scientist was trying to bring back his dead(sick?) daughter using Godzilla's cells. In the Monsterverse the reason can be more sinister. We don't know if that eco-terrorist group is still around or not. If so I can see them creating their own Biollante. . .which in the long run may even cause the creation of Shin Godzilla.

WHY DO SO MANY YT MOVIE REVIEWERS HATE THEATRE?

The frozen theme of these movies is a sign of the impending nuclear winter.

I think they were originally gonna do a Godzilla destroy all monsters but Godzilla vs Kong box office surpassed expectations so WB and Legendary made a sequel to that instead.

Anything 80s and 90s, or monster movies I am always thinking of James!

Slimer never scared me, but he was hilariously cute!

Seeing how Skar King controlled Shimo, I was reminded of Drago's control over the Bewilderbeast in How To Train Your Dragon 2.

I really enjoyed Godzilla x Kong I had a crazy amount of fun. My friends just like you said the same thing about the hollow earth scenes but to me it had he opposite effect, I really enjoyed those scenes because I had to constantly imagine myself and man made structures in the hollow earth and just thinking about how massive everything is compared to the monsters and myself, it actually gave me goosebumps a couple of times especially when you see the that skeleton bridge and I imagined myself next to Kong and suko who are dwarfed by the massive skeleton just looking in awe at how long this creature is. Or when Godzilla let's Kong ride him in the clash against skar King and shimo the spectacle of it all is incredible to imagine massive monsters fighting in front of me with so much space for them to go all out

In the Frozen Empire finale', loved when Ray & Winston quipped in unison "Golden Years!". Outside of that moment, didn't really care for it.

Saw Godzilla X Kong yesterday and I enjoyed it. It’s genuinely just a fun movie with not much depth. If you just want entertaining monster fights and personality then I would recommend it

2 things James, 1. it is scary how it seems there are not room for new stories that everything that made money in the past is being sequeled, prequeled or presequeled, that suks, personally want new stories and not keep much nostalgia. 2. you are the man! we all grow together and empathize with your thoughs which are more likely what we think, you are our friend , so we want to know what you think! greetings from PANAMA!

Ghostbusters needs to tighten up its writing. IMO.

I haven't seen Ghostbusters yet but I watched Kong on Easter Sunday and I thought it was super entertaining and fun to watch. A solid 8 1/2 out of 10. Most everyone actually gave it a clapping ovation at the end which I thought was fair.

It is Ghostbusters and Beverly Hills Cop's 40 anniversary.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Frozen Empire. I liked it as well, it’s nothing that special but it isn’t bad, I don’t get all the hate it’s getting from other reviewers.. I also snuck into Godzilla vs Kong after Ghostbusters 😅, that was a fun flick too, but I def didn’t get into it as much

I found it funny that you could make the argument that they had the wrong taglines. With the passing of the torch to the new generation of Ghostbusters, it would have been a neat play on words for "A New Empire." However, in GxK they have a new bad guy who is creating a "Frozen Empire."

I’m pretty sure a whole generation of Godzilla fans were spawned from Godzillathon.

It's always nice to see James talk passionately about franchises he loves.

After several years of monster madness, I'm surprised you're surprised.

James is definitely the Godzilla guy, so manny people got to know the real Godzilla movies because of the 2008 Monster Madness GodzillaThon.

I live in Mexico, and we never even got Godzilla -1 yet (at least I never saw it at my local theater). Now THIS is playing in theater and I'm still waiting for the other one. Can't wait until it's available to stream

We love you James. Thats why!!! You have been the nerd on KZread for years. So, anything nostalgia related we like to know your thoughts. Other KZreadr's usually complain about everything. Woke this, woke that. It gets repetetive.

The best scene in FE is when the new group of Ghostbusters are united together fighting on one level and the originals are united on another fighting to preserve not only their invention, but their legacy.

Mothra actually WAS crammed in at the last minute, it was meant to be an entirely new monster but decided it made the film too cluttered so replaced the visuals.

The role was always intended to be Mothra’s, the other creature was just something they had on standby in case they weren’t able to get the rights to Mothra

GB 1 and 2 were buddy comedies at heart. That’s definitely something that’s missing in these new movies.

Ghostbusters: The Last Firebender and Godzilla: The Rise of The Empire of The Apes of The Subterran Earth of The Earth

Mothra was actually put in at the last minute...but she also wasn't. There was an original Titan made for the movie called Fermosa who was going to play Mothra's role in the movie, there's a couple images of her floating around online (including one of her on top of the Sphinx in Egypt). She was removed because Legendary was able to secure the rights to Mothra, but maybe she'll make an appearance in the next movie, which is happening and has been greenlit, and is confirmed to be more Godzilla focused. I think your idea about a new "Godzilla vs _____" movie is cool, too, I never thought of that. Maybe after the next one, or a couple more movies, we could get a giant two-part "Destroy All Monsters" movie with Destroyah or Desighidorah as the villain

I finally got to see Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. It was really a great movie. Adam's rendering of Godzilla is very colorful and beautiful, I like this one better because it's more stylish!

you're still the only youtuber i know who review all them godzilla movie, James.. also, i wanna see Godzilla dropkick and Jet Jaguar next and maybe some AVGN cameo...

2:05 don’t forget, Dan Akroyd considers the Ghostbusters game as being the 3rd “movie” at least in terms of the story since it was written by Remus and himself and was able to bring back the original cast. Afterlife then becomes number 4 and the latest is number 5.

I will always enjoy listening to what you have to say about films James,especially when it comes to Ghostbusters and Godzilla or anything else monster related.

I loved Ghostbusters for the Apple 2 as a kid but the bit where you had to sneak under the stay puft marshmallow man to get into the building for the ending was a nightmare worthy of AVGN treatment.

I did find it kind of hilariously ironic that not only did both films have "empire" in their titles, but they also both showed beaches being frozen over by the villains.

I literally watched both of these on Eater back to back! It was quite the experience

Saying Godzilla Minus one outclasses GXK is like saying Shawshank Redemption outclasses Terminator 2. They're totally different movies that set out to do totally different things.

I can’t wait until Godzilla and kong join the fast and furious franchise driving in their own cars crashing through skyscrapers and get slingshot to the moon to fight a giant ant that has a plot to take over earth after it found a magical staff from a lost alien race that lived on Jupiter.

I saw Frozen Empire the other day and I liked it, but felt like they tried too hard with making certain things cute and funny. Like, too much "whooaaa, this is crazy!!". The scene with the lighter is a good example, are we suuposed to believe that Garakka is just standing there waiting, giving this poor guy a chance to get his lighter going just for the pure sportsmanship of it? I miss the more imbedded humor of the original movie. And yes, McKenna Grace is a great actor, in Afterlife I loved how she caught the mannerisms of Egon, kinda talking like him and all. Am I wrong, or wasn't she missing these mannerisms in this movie? They tried it with one of her corny jokes in the beginning, but I didn't feel like she was the same charachter as in Afterlife. I don't know. Kids grow up fast, I guess. All in all, I enjoyed it! When it comes to that Godzilla x Kong movie though, I'd rather go to the dentist than watching that. Thanks for uploading!
