What an absolutely fantastic video! As a lifelong Buxtonian, it was interesting to see something that reveals the heritage of the town and the Peak District itself. Most of what is shown closed when I was a small child. Such a shame the train journey is no longer possible as the scenery along the route is beautiful. Now feel impelled to don the old walking boots and walk the trail though. Well done.
It is a real shame that these old routes do not exist anymore. The scenery must of have been amazing.

Some are trying to resurect it, the quarries want it for easy access to the south of england, the route is spectacular, trouble is there are a couple of sticking points on the route, and the cant be bothered to pedal cyclists who want the scenerey but not have to actually pedal much.
Well done! a great production. Gives the viewer a great sense where they are.
A fantastic and original video. Will be watching many more. I've walked the Monsall Trail. There's lots of info boards along the route about the importance of the railway.

@@ghosttrainlostrailways Yes it really is and you can get a nice meal or snack at Hassop station to help you on your way, was our favourite walk when we lived up there.
This line was one that it made no sense to close . Cutting off Buxton a major spa and tourist destination from any rail access to the midlands. In my opinion close scrutiny should have been made to who was going to benefit from it. With overcrowding on the roads in the Peak this is one route that should be considered for reopening. A BIG well done to Peak Rail keeping some of the line open and preventing its total annihilation.
Another great video along a route with which I am extremely familiar having lived for 20+ years in the Peak District and Sheffield. I have cycled the Monsal Trail many times and latterly through all the opened up tunnels from Haddon tunnel to Millers dale and beyond. It's a pity that the present railway cannot gain access to MIllers dale because what a jounrney that would be. Only standing in its way are a demolished bridge between Rowsley and Haddon tunnel and the tunnel itself which is in a state of disrepair. I presume that yet again you have composed the music yourself which is a feat as admirable as the production of the video.
A very nice production👍
Fantastic yet again
This was great thank you 😊
Very impressive way put together work of art love the ghost loco
Clever stuff. Enjoyed that!
INCREDIBLE - so well put together :)
Great - excellent. I rode this route as a child, and still remember feeling immensely disappointed when it closed. Passing the strange lineside topiary just before Pineapple Bridge, coming from Manchester, was a signal to gather things up before getting off at Bakewell. My grandparents lived at Pineapple Cottages in the 60s, so you couldn't get closer to the trains, really.
As a local girl, that’s absolutely brilliant to see! Why on earth did they get rid of that route, it must have been beautiful!! Glad we can walk most of it now but on a train would’ve been great! ❤❤❤

they probably hoped to increase road traffic to make a case for building a motorway. that was cwertainly the reason they closed the woodhead route.

As always, it is down to money. Imagine the cost of keeping such a route open, it would be astronomical. Having said that, I would dearly like to see it reopened.
Another stunning presentation. Many thanks.
Excellent, as always 😊
Excellent!
Brilliant!
Beautiful and brilliant how this hits that nostalgic nerve!! Walking the Monsal trail this Summer.

There are plans to reopen this railway, the first stage is to reopen to Rowsley on a bridge crossing the A6,then continue to Bakewell, then onto Millers Dale, then link up with the line linking Manchester to Buxton.
