Ghost Stories but context is completely gone.
Ойындар
A compilation of some of the funniest moments from Ghost Stories. Apparently the English dub actors thought that the original Japanese script was terrible so they just decided to make it really offensive. This entire show is comedy gold and I highly recommend watching it for a good laugh.

Apparently original show was so bland and boring, no one watched it in Japan, so when ADV wanted to get their hand on some anime, managers gave them this with guideline "Just leave main story and character names intact, and do whatever the hell you want". So crew just went completely insane because no-one cared - initial studio just hoped to get some money from this bomb and ADV didn't care either - they wanted to have anime on broadcast. Dubs like this happen only once in millenia because stars have aligned in a very wrong, but correct way and instead of faithful but boring adaptation we've been blessed with the most hillarious shit I've heard in a while.

Ghost Stories is like if someone made an Abridged version that got more popular so the original Ghost Stories artists took theirs down and the Abridged creators decided to take the ": Abridged" out of their title.
Ghost Stories was picked up for dubbing by ADV Studios in 2005. According to voice actor Greg Ayres, they were told to "do whatever it took to sell the show." The only condition was that the basic story and names of major characters and ghosts had to remain intact, but everything else was fair game. To that end, director Steven Foster reworked the show into a pure Gag Dub by throwing out nearly all of the original script. When the voice actors were called in to record scenes, whoever got there first would set the tone and subject for the scene, which meant the other cast members had to follow in those footsteps. This approach produced a dub full of random characterization, fourth-wall-breaking jokes, political and cultural references.

Honestly as much as I find some of the very over-the-top explicit humor forced a lot of this anime feels _incredibly natural_ and actually has really solid characterization and dialogue. Like the scene with the guys talking about sisters is very real banter. Maybe it’s just the fact we don’t usually get protagonists who are unabashedly awful people but they feel uniquely accurate to a friend group of rude, spiteful kids
