CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Epps (Julianna Margulies) prepares to sink the ghost ship when she is confronted by Jack (Desmond Harrington), who she now knows is an evil spirit.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A salvage team think they've made the find of a lifetime, until they discover there's more on board than meets the eye in this supernatural thriller. Led by Captain Sean Murphy (Gabriel Byrne), the crew of the tugboat Arctic Warrior have discovered a sideline far more lucrative than hauling ships in and out of the harbor -- they locate missing or wrecked ships in international waters, repair them until they can be brought back to port, and then sell off the ship and its contents as salvage. Acting on a tip from Jack Ferriman (Desmond Harrington), a pilot in the Canadian Air Force, Murphy and his crew -- salvage expert Maureen Epps (Julianna Margulies), first mate Greer (Isaiah Washington), and crewmen Santos (Alex Dimitriades), Dodge (Ron Eldard), and Munder (Karl Urban) -- set out to find a large craft seen adrift off the Alaskan coastline. To their surprise, the crew of the Arctic Warrior discover what appears to be the Antonia Graza, a famous Italian ocean liner, legendary for its luxury, which vanished without a trace in 1962. While they at first anticipate the payday of a lifetime from this find, the crew soon discover a sinister force has taken control of the ship, and before long they're battling not for salvage rights, but for their lives. Ghost Ship was directed by special effects man turned filmmaker Steven Beck, who previously directed the 2001 remake of 13 Ghosts.

This scene with all the unmarked souls including the girl finally going to Heaven is very touching and makes you shed happy tears that they're finally free. The music really makes it more heartwarming and tearjerking at the same time.

Fam, they're all free, except the "new" marked souls from ol girl's crew. The bad dude explicitly states the ship has to keep floating for him to keep the souls (HENCE BRINGING THE TEAM THERE). Without the ship, the souls aren't his anymore. (HENCE GOING TO A NEW SHIP IN THE END TO RESTART THE PROCESS). Pretty simple shit fam.

Captains generally are the good guys. It's their job to go down with their ship... the same happened to the captain of the Titanic, and of the Estonia. Apparently the M/S Estonia's captain never left his sinking ship, and he's still there on the ship's bridge on the bottom of the Baltic Sea.

Honestly, I agree, and I can actually envision in my head how it could have gone, the scene playing out almost the exact same as here, but at the end, when the moving score ends and the Antonia Graza slips beneath the waves, the score suddenly takes a much darker and slightly sinister tone, and we follow the ship as it heads towards the bottom for a few seconds. And see Francesca and the crew who slaughtered the passengers, with a reddish aura glow around them to show the difference from the whitish blue innocent spirits ascending to heaven, silently screaming as they're sucked down with the ship, where they'll be sucked down to hell once the ship hits the ocean floor.

I was given the honor of watching 2 super subs be decommissioned and sunk. It's very moving to watch a ship sink in any setting. Myself and all the other crews shed at least 100 tears each watching those monster subs die. The moaning and clanking of the structure as they go down will haunt your memories forever.

Even an iceberg can obliterate an ocean liner, so explosives are nothing new. Particularly because this ocean liner isn't the modern type we have now - ships weren't really all that good in the 1960s. In 1964, a cruise ship cut an entire _tanker_ in half in the middle of the ocean.

Im still watching this movie, the guy actually is some kind of demon or deathly spirit. He is the reason why some ships are lost, he manipulate some people to get the gold but every soul that he kills on a ship is a ticket home, he said that line when that man was with woman on the motor room. Then he brings more souls to accomplish his mission, so in general the gold is cursed and every time you get the gold out someone dies.
