GHOST : RITE HERE RITE NOW // Out of the cinema reaction

This is my honest reaction to Ghost new 'movie' straight after watching it.
#ritehereritenow #ghostbc #thebandghost
Synopsis : Shot over the course of GHOST’s two sold-out shows at Los Angeles' hallowed Kia Forum, RITE HERE RITE NOW fully immerses viewers in the technicolor melodrama of the vaunted live ritual that has helped to propel Sweden’s foremost theatrical rock export to GRAMMY-winning, chart-topping, arena-headlining status the world over.
RITE HERE RITE NOW is, however, so much more than a concert movie. GHOST’s debut feature film combines live performance from the two-night finale of the band’s RE-IMPERATOUR U.S.A. 2023 with a narrative story that picks up plot threads from the band’s long-running webisode series. The result is an utterly unique phantasmagorical blend: Flesh and bone renditions of favorites from all five of GHOST’s albums as well as the RIAA platinum-certified “Mary On A Cross” and more are interwoven with the silver screen debuts of a few faces familiar to the band’s legions of fans-all interacting behind the scenes with GHOST's Papa Emeritus IV, as his future and fate lay in the hands of the Ministry.
Whether you’re a devoted disciple looking to relive treasured memories of the GHOST live spectacle or among the curious uninitiated, RITE HERE RITE NOW will put you right there: putting your phones down and living in the moment-as a shadow of uncertainty looms-completely spellbound and in the thrall of this bombastic yet intimate cinematic portrait of GHOST.

I saw it on the 20th and it was great! I am so happy I went! I was hoping to be able to watch Swiss, but he was very occasionally briefly shown, but it was on the big screen, so It was better than snatches of him on my iPad. But I loved the movie, the music, everything, I loved the new song so much. And the ending.... oh what a reaction everybody gave! It was so worth seeing! I love Ghost.

The wife and I had the cinema to ourselves last night. What a show! You're right, everything was on point. I've been lucky enough to see them on the last 2 tours in Glasgow and this felt like a 3rd ritual. They're a special band. I also thought the string version of "If you have Ghosts" was particularly haunting and gave me goosebumps!

I am a Ghost fan too, I went to see the movie in Milan on Thursday 20th (about one year after seeing them live at the Milan Summer Festival) and I totally agree: very high quality in every aspect. Not only a way to relive the emotions of the gig, but also a great show to watch. My favourite: Call me litlle sunshine. Thanks for the video-review: it's fun to hear the opinions of other fans.

I turned up at the premiere on the 16th June and just wanted to see if I could catch a glimpse of someone. But Tobias saw fit to give out 32 free tickets, to earlybird fans who just wanted to turn up for the occasion. What a legend. We were gobsmacked. We even attended the Q&A afterwards with Tobias and Alex Ross Perry (co-director). The film is thrilling, emotional, funny, profound. And silly, in the best possible way. Yes, Tobias is a true visionary, perhaps a genius, the consummate showman. And the music is truly awesome. During the Q&A, Tobias said he thought of the Papa IV character as a cross between Freddie Mercury and Jacques Clouseau (Inspector Clouseau). My favourite song? It's 'Call Me Little Sunshine'. I covered it recently with my cousin.

I just love Papa IV. He is like a little kid who just doesn't want to grow up, loving every minute of his life. Those tiny little moments with his mother and then his father had me laughing at times, but as you say, the emotional side of it too came across very well. My personal favourite was If You Have Ghost followed by Respite (which is my go-to song on Impera).

I've always seen the influence that Freddie had on Tobias pretty clearly. Maybe because Queen is another of my favourite bands, but the level of showmanship, and the way he's learned to command a stage, paired with the *very* tight pants, are definite signs that Tobias has been taking his Mercury pills. 😉

This 65 yo woman went to the movie yesterday. It was great. I was a little disappointed that the theater was half empty but we did go to a very early matinee. I was hoping for a crowd that was more involved. But, I still enjoyed it so much. Tobias is a genius. And he is not afraid to make fun of the whole lore. My friend had not even heard of Ghost until I invited her the day before. She loved it. I am sad I did not wait for the credits to finish. The set list pretty much followed the set list when I saw them live this summer in St. Louis. But the additions were amazing. Two words - dancing skeletons.

I'm waiting to get both of my knees replaced. This movie was the next best thing to actually be at a live concert, maybe even better. It was like having the best seat in the house and then some.
