It's fun watching some of these old 50's B movie drive in classics. Sometimes you'll see a future star, but all in all it's a wonderful glimpse into a bygone era.

Adorable & so lovable silly little movie that combines hot rods & cold chills.
Won the special effects Oscar in 1958. Well done. Thank you.
TV Tommy Ivo sure was involved with numerous movies and TV shows. I remember he said he had to hide his drag racing from the studio bosses. He built quite a few extraordinary cars. A cool guy.

It never was simple. It was just easier to avoid society. But when an outcast did encounter proper society the meeting usually didn't end well. I read the diary of a RR tramp from the depression era and it was bleak to say the least. Life has and never will be simple.

I love these old hot rod movies. I was born in the late 40s (Yes I am old) and have noticed that life wasn't as antiseptic as "Ozzie and Hariet" would have you beleive. Notice that the girls don't get laughed at when working on their cars! That held true thru the 60s. And yes the tall girl OMG love her. Also notice nobody seems to care if the girl they're dancing with is taller.

God dang. I didn't know people lived to be your age! :D Seriously, love your true account of growing up in the car cultue back then. I'm just old enough I can still smell and taste the tail end of purer car culture scene, pre-'70s. Would love to hear your stories!

It's funny you mention girls being taller than the guys. In 1960 I met a Girl who was 2 inches taller than me, we dated for 3 years, in my 55 chevy ragtop. Some how we went our separate ways.Fifty seven years later, I am seeing her again, she 75 and I am 78, life is great. Oh she is only about an inch taller than me now.

Many Academy Award winning performances. True Hot Rodding.
This was surprisingly good. Just a lighthearted screwball comedy And some awesome old cars. Just wish they would have shown the race between the two girls at the end. "Alfonso always remember to be polite and say please" "Ok, drop dead please" 😂😂😂
I can't understand why this picture did not win any Academy Awards. Brilliant I tell you... brilliant.
Love this vintage movies, and yes, I'm way too young, but old for my time.
Wish credits played "Ghost Train" song. Am addicted to it! Love old instrumentals. A real rock band in movie! & appearance by Paul Blaisdell, creator af MANY movie monsters.
Nice to see the Sheila's having a bit fun with the Rods.
"Where'd you think you'd find it, down her throat?" A classic line right up there with "Frankly my dear...." I miss the days when bands discharged firearms on stage.
The teenagers\hotrods\monsters thing was short lived but a lot of fun. This was just the tip of the monster craze to come, \ with models kits, magazines, and the resurgence of many careers such as those of Vincent Price and Boris Karloff. This was a fun movie all around and I just LOVE that tall actress with the glasses. What a shape!

I still mess around with older carburetor v8 engines to this day. Building an old 283 as we speak. So much in this movie is so relevant to today’s society. Bring back respect & social etiquette. I😂 Brilliant movie. Thank you for sharing!
The best of these type of films
Haven't seen this since "59"! This is something from another era. Things were very different, not better, just different. I grew up in the "50's" and I wouldn't want it any different. But, don't watch these movies or tv episodes and think that life in the 50's was like this; it wasn't. This is Hollywood's interpretation.
I took photos of Ivo's T roadster, and the dragster, about two weeks ago. I attended the GNRS in Pamona. I got to meet Tommy Ivo. He's a great guy.

I watched all the reruns of all the old stuff like Batman, The Monkees, Lost In Space and the like. I remember the old Aurora model kits and the pre-code horror comics, and while I wasn't there for the original stuff, I grew up with a healthy heaping of the stuff in the days just after. Lois Cavendish (Jody Fair) hangs out at a nearby soda shop with her drag racing club. But when she learns the shop might be closed, she calls her wealthy aunt, Anatasia (Dorothy Neumann), for help. Anatasia offers the club the chance to use her mansion as their headquarters -- but with one strange condition: They have to scare away the ghost that haunts her home. When the club decides to throw an all-night monster mash party at the mansion, it becomes clear that something is amiss.

This is still one of our fav movies and we probably watch it at least once a year. Some times i feel like i was born in the wrong decade(1973) because this woman here loves old cars and old movies such as this. I just get so sick of all of the sex in films and what they call TV and commercials now a days. Currently we have been watching TV shows like Mannix/Barnaby Jones /Cannon /Highway Patrol and the original Fugitive TV show. I just miss the good old days when movies and TV shows were actually good.

If it's Nicholson and Arkoff, with a American International Picture, you won't be disappointed. Check out Dorothy Neumann here (Miss Anastasia), being all kool, and not a witch, for once. Paul Blaisdell, the special makeup/effects man, had an acting/cameo part within this (as he did all the makeup here, just like all the creature's we see) who later gets unmasked, at the end. And, attributed to MANY, other spook films of the day, also😁!!! Love all the 'hotrod's', in the film. Makes one, think of another movie that came out, the same year (with a giant monitor)!! Anyone take a guess??
