How the hell did Tobias Forge manage to take all the good elements of 2000's punk, 80's metal, and 70's hard rock, then blend it into one song so flawlessly? It's just brilliant!

Some might now, some probably "googl'ed" it. "Kaiserion" is kinda tribute/requiem to Hypatia of Alexandria. She was a philosopher, mathematician and inventor and had a lot of moral authority and influence on political scene, and among the people. She is also called "martyr of science". She was sentenced to death by Cyril of Alexandria due to her contact with Orestes, viceroy of Egypt, and probably Cyril's jealousy of respect she had among the people of Alexandria.

Tobias spoke about this song and it’s meaning, I highly suggest looking it up. But the basics are - Hypatia was a female philosopher back in the Roman times. She was a brilliant scientist and mathematician, who taught philosophy and astronomy. She was horribly murdered by the early Christians, “who were like an insane cult at the time”. They then went on to burn the library of Alexandria, where we lost the most human knowledge in one fell swoop, and lost all early accounts. So this is drawing parallels between back then, and the recent attempted coup on the capital, and how “some” groups are heading for society. Also of course, “the noise of the righteous dogma that hides the Handmaid’s Tale” is super self explanatory if you have either read the books, or watched the show.
The instrumentals alone left me flabbergasted. This has become one of my favorites from Ghost.
I am a 70's and 80's Heavy Rock fan and tend to avoid modern bands but Ghost are simply awesome. Commercial hooks , crunching riffs and great singer and image. A link to the old rock with a modern twist
Idk why this wasn't a single, it's the best song from the album.
@magnusblomqvist966
Жыл бұрын
Tobias wanted it to be the first single. But the American record company didn't listen as they're already had decided that Call me little sunshine was supposed to be that. This is also why Tobias played it live before it was released because in his mind the decision was wrong and he had already prepared for Imperium and Kaisarion to start the conserts off. Every tour of every album always starts with the first two tracks on the current album.

I'm curious how the title of the song relates to Hypatia, can you clarify?

@@austinjohnson2797 Hypatia was a philosopher and teacher from Egypt-Greece-Rome, she was brutally murdered on the streets by a mob because her opponents pegged her as a pagan witch that didn't follow the new religion of the land. She didn't follow jesuss basically. And her brutal death was echoed throughout the empire as warning and a sign of a new empire on top the ashes of the old. Old Roman Empire falling (Emperors), New Roman Empire (Popes).
I’m going to a concert in august!! I’m so excited, I love them sm.

I came here because of NHL 23
This song is about Hypatia who was philosopher, teacher, astronomer, etc who lived in the 300s in Alexandria, Egypt. She was killed by Christians who believed she was a witch. This is back when Christianity was still s cult. The song treats Christianity as a cult that inhibits human progress & human potential. The chorus brings us back to to the present (Long Ago, Yet Too Close To Forever) to drive the point home that it's now & forever. A tale as old as mam himself. It is a very political song. Just like in the times of Hypatia, people today are clashing with the side effects of human progress. We stand at a crossroads as society. Either we will become more than human through our technological might or we will regress to our ignorant & primitive selves. (People see human progress as a threat to themselves but it also threatens the artibers of our social order. So no matter how much bread & circuses you give the masses, those in power will lose it. Another faction will inherit that control. The moment we split the atom, we lost the ability to believe in nonsense.

"This is back when Christianity was still s cult." Well written, but Christianity is still a cult. I managed to escape one of the many factions. I'm seeing current day Christian Nationalists that would probably do the same to Hypatia here and now if they could.
This song will hopefully send ghost into the stratosphere! Absolutely epic banger.
Every time I wonder where Ghost has been I'm always pleasantly surprised to see they've recently released new music. Probably one of the most consistently awesome and constantly progressing bands out there
this song has so many elements. it's insane, i hear Rush, Greenday, lots of metal and some pop
Im happy that TikTok put them in my fyp and now Im here, this is my world where I can be free,I feel like that…as a Queen fan and as new Ghost fan,Im now the happiest human on this planet…I cant thank more❤️
When listening to GHOSt, if you read the song lyrics-you learn new words, history, and philosophy-its amazing!

Shoutout ghost. I think this is too beautiful 🤩
This song makes me feel literally 20 years younger. Same excitement finding something new to my ears, and GOOD. Really having a great time exploring the Ghost world.
I had heard that Joe Eliiot from Def Leppard digged this album. I can understand. Sounds like good rock. Little bit of Rush too. I'm so glad there is bands out there like this. Real rock will never die.
Cool!!! I love the 90's rock references. That "Mr. Big - Green-Tinted Sixties Mind" intro.
brilliance personified
I went to my first concert ever aka first ritual with my friend also their first ritual and We ascended from our seats when they opened with this.
Ghost is making the absolute best praise and worship music out there today...they've got an integrity to them that you just can't find in any other CCM artists and they do not follow trends....I personally feel that just because they support the away team shouldn't matter and that they should be in the running for the Grammy equivalent, or truly maybe Razzy equivalent, in the christian music industry....the Dove Awards! And they could perform at the ceremony and we could get one of those popular "Mashup" deals where Ghost is performing with, or technically against someone like Kirk Franklin or Toby Mac and maybe the Newsboys? I can hear Papa IV now chiming in each time Michael Tait effeminatly states that God's Not Dead with a snarky "Yet" and ultimately Tait scurrying from the stage in terror from the top less year zero nuns screaming about the horror of boobies!

Hello 👋 Kay How are you doing today?
The middle rocking instrumental section of Kaiserion puts me in mind of Wayward Son by Kansas on steroids. I love it!

Perfection ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Interesting facts. I've just discovered that 'Hypatia', whose name is sung by the backing vocals (first heard at 1:25, but sung repeatedly later over that great guitar riff), was a female philosopher and mathematician in the 4th-5th century AD, who was murdered by Christians who dragged her into a building known as the Kaisarion! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypatia
