Some say Ghost is like Monty Python. Their art is about taking on powerful icons & shining a light on their hypocrisy through catchy fun stuff that you can enjoy without thinking about the subtext. Ghost is only one person, Tobias Forge. He either writers all the songs by himself or with co-writers but he is always the main writer. The band he tours with is not the band he records with. The only time you hear the touring band is on live recordings like Mary On A Cross Live at Tampa 2022. And they are amazing live. Their genres change all the time sometimes on the same album. Are they metal? Are they hard rock? Are they doom or psychedelic? Yes all those. You can't listen to one Ghost song and know what the Ghost sound is.

They are great live. Put on a great show. They were opening for Metallica. I actually herd this song on the radio. Year zero is my favorite but there is so many good ones

I think you'd enjoy that live performance of Mary on a Cross. It's a fun and lovely song, and the band and audience really get into the theatrics of the live shows :)

Mary on a Cross Live in Tampa is a fantastic video for the song!

Ghost say's they wanna sound like a band from the 70 that you have missed out on. And then your friend play you this MEGA ROCKSHOW. The album this song came from won best rock album at the MTV Awards. All their albums get latin names.

Yes ghost! Saw them live with Volbeat it was great. Hope you do more and jump into the lore of ghost. If you have ghost you have everything.

If you enjoyed this, and especislly the retro vibe, I definitely recommend continuing to explore them. They bring an old school style with them but can make it sound fresh. Spillways or Mary on a Cross would both be excellent to look at next. But honestly anything you can find of theirs on KZread should be excellent. They rarely ever miss

I listened to Ghost for years before I got into their lore. Yes, Ghost has a lore, a whole fictional story about why everyone is in a mask and why each singer is a "Papa" and who their father and mother are etc. The crazy stuff about Tobias is he apparently has songs written years in advance and a plan for when those songs will be released and they won't be released until they are ready because he has plotted the lore years earlier. So when you watch a lore video that they post on their channel if a character says even a word the fans will analyse it for weeks or years even trying to figure out what it means for five years from now.

Ghost writes very melody friendly songs meant to subvert the oppressive church marketing machine. Though, to be fair not every song is a subversive take on the church. Though, songs like Mary On A Cross SOUND like they could be, that song is not. Tobias, the only actual member of the band, said it's about trying to make it (in the biz) with your friends and going down in history in a good or bad way. You might enjoy it. The pro-shot live performance is great. P.S. Tobias wears a full mask all the time. It's not makeup. It's a full mask. He looks nothing like that.

The Bible call the devil the morning star. Hence little sunshine. The name in the chorus is another name for the devil. They take Christian themes and flip them

Actually the phrase Little sunshine is a quote from Aleister Crowley. When in court, the judge said - You goes under so many names it's hard to know what to call you? - You can call me little sunshine, Aleister replied 😊
