Insurance companies are the best at measuring risk. I bet those premiums were a financial burden “if” they paid substantial death benefits. Moreover, I bet clauses protected the insurance companies from things like murder due to the volatile way these rappers lived. It makes no sense from a business standpoint to have them killed-I’m sure more money could’ve been made during a long term partnership.

Some people seem confused. Empire is a major music distribution company. Even as an independent artist, you have to go through a distribution company if you want your music on streaming platforms. You can't listen to your favorite artist on a music streaming app if they don't sign a distribution deal to distribute your tracks. It's totally different than an artist signing on with... let's say PRE. That's where your creation is born and comes to life in order to be able to be distributed.
