This is how things used to be made. These guys in this garage are making a superior product to what we have in the states. I replaced a water heater in my house that was made in the 80’s. Now 7 years later I’m replacing that one due to multiple failures. We need real manufacturers like these guys with a craft. Not computer guided cheap disposable shit. A++

Seems to me you must have bought a Pakistani water heater. In the usa, at least with electric water heaters, if you change the anode as needed and the very cheap heating elements [$6] or the thermostats [$8] they will easily last 10 to 20 years. Now we are getting some stainless steel models and the life span will be 25+ years. Had you changed the anode on your heater on year 5 you might have had another easy 7 years. This water heater with out an anode is doomed to failure early on.

Having managed a Rheem plant for 20 years, I can tell you these water heaters a just ticking time bombs. Galvanized internals do not last let alone the removal of it via the welding. My guess is that the efficiency rating is next to zero, thermal siphoning is not even considered, by the way, that’s also the case in the US and Canada. Tying insulation on with cord compresses it to zero efficiency. I guess shiny paint and colourful stickers can fool the uninformed. It’s only ever about the money and even just sales to 1% of their population rakes in plenty of cash. Just sayin!!!

A "Faux" water heater. No pressure relief. No glass or epoxy interior coat. No drain. No flue restrictor. No spark igniter. Junk gas valve.... Bottom section is a garbage can! @@naveedali1406 Ask him to add a threaded port for a anode, they are cheap and it is foolish without it. If your water is very hard, and the price of your gas very cheap, they may last some time, but this sort of manufacture is needlessly primitive in this era. I can understand such tiny factories making wood water heaters, or gas fired but not under pressure. They cross the line into a technology that has been perfected, and is efficient and long lasting.

Very talented hardworking people. But they're building by hand a pre-1978 US water heater design (more like pre-1950s). As other commenters have pointed out, welding galvanized is a bad idea (toxic fumes), but also, the tank and other parts will rust everywhere it was welded. There's no dip tube, so the tank's effective capacity will only be about 1/3 it's actual size (the dip tube forces cold water to the bottom, pushing hot water out rather than mixing it). There's no baffle in the flue tube, and the fiberglass insulation was an American practice when energy was cheap. This water heater will cost a lot to run on LP in a country with high energy prices. There are probably other designs that would be better suited to indigenous manufacturing practices. The lack of safety devices is another problem. Depending on water quality and water pressure, these tanks won't last more than a few years. (However, since they are not glass lined, they might be able to weld patches on the tank. So because of the crude construction methods, these tanks may actually be repairable.) They should modify the design to fit local energy costs and water conditions. This design was for American homes in the 'burbs when energy was cheap and hot water use copious. I'm guessing that's not the case here.

Who cares what they look like on the outside. Every steel water heater since the 1960s is "glass lined" on the inside and has a anode rod to slow down galvanic corrosion. These stick welded uninsulated metal water heaters won't last 2 years without rusting pinholes everywhere. I dont even want to get into the lack of temperature/ pressure relief valves because the questionable welds provide their own pressure relief. Maybe slosh a few cups of paint on the inside. Also don't weld galvinized steel.

With so many safety violations I am surprised they bother with eye protection when they weld. I guess the results of welding without becomes apparent very quickly while the other potential lung and skin problems are longer term so not considered a danger. Maybe it falls in line with the average age of death for males in Pakistan? Let's not even mention the manufacturing process and environment. This video should be used as a "How the f*ck NOT to do it"!!

You do notice that in all those shops there are hundreds of all those products in the background and a lot of damaged ones cause they don't last anywhere near what you'd get in a western factory, and that workmanship wouldn't be allowed in Canada.

I live where these are made and mostly you really don't want ones made on the street. There are bigger manufacturers here as well which have better products and testing facilities. Cost isn't high but you get what you pay for. They are really not that efficient in terms of thermal efficiency, specially the amount of insulation is minimal plus its missing many components from a real water heater, so safety and efficiency is minimal. Also government doesn't have building code or standards for ppl to follow. Apart from the product which might work well, the thing I hate is the grafics, they make a good product look shitty!
