6.5 out of 10? Hmm. They should be in The 9-range. Very friendly, happy family dogs. Lots of personality too.

My setter is 11 years old and has ruined me for any other breed. Loving dog, great with people of all ages, mellow with strangers, very laid back guy. Perfect companion.

Was he a puppy when you got him? What are his exercise requirements like?

I have had 4 English Setters. I have been without an English Setter for the first time since 1997 as of last year when my last rescue transitioned at almost 18. My avatar is my first English Setter, Lucy. She was a beloved member of our household. We live in a rural area and were able to give all of our English Setters the exercise they needed. And they need to be embedded with the household.

@@itsybitsy999 Sorry for such a long absence. Got our Setter as a one year old from Humane Society. He was perfect right out of the gate. Can't imagine what the house will be like without him.

And, our Setter may be the exception, but he is very lazy. Never required more than running the yard 2-3 times a day. We leave food out 24/7 and he just doesn't care, skinny still.

@@dennisdinser7386 I had a pocket setter that would have been a perfect apartment dog. Low drive but very sweet and devoted to me.

The most wonderfull breed of dog ever, I live in a flat, so can,t have one, wouldn,t be fair on him/her. To every setter owner, you are so lucky, bless you.

Ive had the honor of having 2 English setters. Both were wonderful dogs, full of life and love. My were the Llewelyn strain and I hunted birds with both. Simply the best for upland hunting. There is nothing like the relationship between a hunter and a dog, i learned so much from them and we had our own language in the field that only we knew. They both lived to 15 years,will be getting another one once I get over the last one a bit more…. Ive had/hunted over labs, Irish setters, GSPs, beagles, vizslas; simply put all dogs are great but nothing compares to an English setter.

My Llewellin only took two weeks tops to house break. Thanks for the video.

I've got one at home and he's little troublemaker. Total sweetheart and very gentle, but very free spirited. Great dogs for sure:)

@Magnitude My dog was gentle and did not anything wrong when he was a puppy. They need a lot of Walks but you can also let they run at they self they love it.
