If there's one word I can use to describe Taeyeon's music, it would be "intentional". She ALWAYS knows what kind of story she wants to tell with her songs, and she knows her voice so well that she can pretty much seamlessly flow from topic to topic and from genre to genre. There truly is no one else like her.

You guys have no idea how many times I listen to Taeyeon and think to myself "I wish I could go back and experience her music for the first time". I love that you're documenting your journey with her and experiencing what most/all of us went through. Watching you guys and your reactions to her basically explain why she's such a respected artist in the Korean industry. So excited for more to come.

Taeyeon from Girl's Generation is the first KPOP singer who turned me into a KPOP fan. Her only existence will forever remain incredible.

She is a main vocal of the girl group, ‘the girl’s generation’. She is the idol of the idol. Very famous in S.Korea.

Recommend her "I Got Love", "Fire", and "Love you Like Crazy" live performances in the S...one concert 2018, that concert was legendary.

‘I’ is a legendary solo debut song. At that time no one goes solo while still promoting in a group and did it so successfully. Her success paved the way for female idols to get solo opportunities while still active in a group. Now a solo opportunity is almost expected for female idols. Rain is the 1st and most successful SM Station song to date. 11:11 acoustic version is so beautiful. Please watch it

a little sidenote, rain is an sm station song, a project sm had to release music outside of comebacks and collaborations. Rain is the very first song in sm station and although unpromoted (no cb stages) it charted pretty well because it’s just so good.

Taeyeon is always on the spotlight but she is shy on the spotlight. After hearing the song “Circus” in 2018 I discovered a side of Taeyeon that maybe people didn't know about. I remember Taeyeon said she is not suitable to be an idol cause of her personality and she found out that being a singer is a lonely job. It's very interesting and sad cause somehow she is still standing on the top after 16 years. Looking back she was very mature at a young age, and struggle and stress awaited her with the fast-changing time in K-pop. I discovered her to be cute, pretty, cool and responsible, etc.…but somehow I still don’t think anyone truly understands her.

The two first debut song in Korean, I = Na, Rain = Bi, and Nabi in Korean means Butterfly, Taeyeon’s symbol, and Buttefly was remind through the song and the MV. In “I” Mv, Taeyeon go to find her trueself, back with her pure energy and fly high 😊 In 11:11, that’s mess up flask back between happy moment (black outfit) and broke up time (white outfit). But finally, like she told that “I believe I’ll over you”

Don't forget to add Can't Control Myself to your lists of mvs to react to! It's such a masterpiece and directed by Taeyeon herself!! She also wrote the lyrics to the song ♡

Funny story, in the cafe in the I MV, I actually randomly walked by it when I visited New Zealand (the MV was shot in New Zealand) a few years ago and I thought why does this look so familiar and then remembered it was the cafe from this MV. Also random fact, but guy behind her after she storms out of the cafe is her brother lol

I had a similar experience this summer when I went to the Women’s World Cup matches in Auckland, New Zealand and suddenly saw the Portland building when I got out of the bus. Later that week I went to a beach outside Auckland and surprisingly discovered it was the beach with the same rock features as the ones seen in Taeyeon’s “I” MV. Then that same day as I traveled on to Māori country, just like in the MV, the rolling hills were filled with roaming sheep grazing. All this made the “I” MV more real and my visit to NZ extra special.

@@momanessie yeah! i know where you're talking about because I also went to watch a obligatory rugby game at the stadium nearby. Also I visited the Lord of the Rings set/tour and saw a field of like sheep and reminded me of the one scene in the MV too lol

"I" is all about finding herself and allowing herself to fly

I recommend songs from her 2nd album “purpose” which has a darker and heavier vibe. It’s a really honest and meaningful album, Taeyeon was suffering from depression during 2019 and her schedule during that period was unrealㅠㅠ. “My tragedy””Lol””Better Babe””wine””here I am””drawing our moments”… are all very good!

She put alot of clue or symbol in every songs of her, like the butterfly is her signature, appear on I, her debut solo and also her older brother as cameo in the mv. She also known as a storyteller singer.

The song I is Taeyeon’s first title of her 1st mini album after 9 years of group projects. She wrote the lyrics and It’s a very meaningful and emotional song cause before the song was released, she was bullied by a boy group’s fans on the internet which was very toxic. So I is like a fresh start for her. ❤️‍🩹

How she insisted on that - I - high note cause she said it needed one, how she changed the 2nd verse of Feel So Fine with a melody she had in her head instead of the original rap line, ofc that bit about how she campaigned hard for INVU to be the title track etc. Its why its very interesting to listen to her songs she might not get credited for it but she's very hands on behind the scene and people wont know until someone who worked with her said on an obscure interview somewhere lol

Rain was def the perfect way to launch the SM Station project. for reference, the SM Station project started 2016 which meant to release singles every week (had consistent releases only the first 2 years). other notable songs would be RV’s Would U, Spring Love (Wendy, Eric Nam), and aespa’s DCT

Fun fact.... in the "I" video, when Taeyeon walks back into the diner to quit her job, that's her IRL brother sitting at the counter.

When you said "I" felt important, it really really was. It was the first time SM FINALLY let her have a full solo debut, after years of being one of the most popular and revered talents in their company. It was such an incredible moment for her, for her fans, for Sones. To see our Taeyeon be able to spread her wings and kick off one of the most impressive and iconic soloist careers in the industry to this date. It was a really special song and I'm so glad you've discovered and loved it

a little background on the MV for 'I' - it was shot in Auckland New Zealand at the Portland Hotel and along the coastline to the north west (Piha Beach), a couple of Mamamoo videos were filmed in the same location. At the time this was filmed I lived only an hours drive from Auckland and I was gutted to find out Taeyeon had been that close. lastly, when this came out there was some accusations of SM copying a Taylor Swift video which was shot on the same location - it was in fact the same video director for both videos, who for convenience or affordability decided to use the same location and a similar concept for both tracks. Glad you're loving Taeyeon - she's my ult wrecker.

The track "I" is an interesting example of the way music is sometimes produced. The track was recorded and released, and Taeyeon had never met, or even spoken to, Verbal Jint. In fact Taeyeon was on Sunny's radio show (Sunny is another member of Girls' Generation), when Verbal Jint rang in (obviously arranged by Sunny etc. without Taeyeon's knowledge). He didn't identify himself but started saying how much he enjoyed 'working with her'. Taeyeon had a wonderful few seconds of complete confusion before 'clicking' who it was. And continuing the 'gag', Taeyeon was later performing to a small, intimate crowd when, at the appropriate moment of the song, Verbal Jint walked in from the back of the hall performing his rap part. Again the look of shock and bewilderment on her face before realising who this person was, is just gorgeous.

Oh I am so so so excited! She's an amazing vocalist! ❤

She's been spoiling me for over a decade now. I love when they shoot videos in New Zealand. Too many goooooooood songs to listen to. If you guys remember when you did Mamamoo's Starry Night video it was also in New Zealand.

The MV was shot in New Zealand. It even includes the same beach etc. that Mamamoo shot their MV for Starry Night. A lot of K-pop MVs are shot in NZ. Or the deserts of the US. Just very picturesque countryside.
