“There’s that guy talking to himself in his car again...” -Pajama lady Seriously though, one of the best and most unnoticed change when I upgraded to v2.0 was that the display fully turns off at night. When I first got the car, even when you turned off the display at night, it was still backlit and distracting for road trips at night but v2.0+ actually turns the back light off completely and the screen just goes black which makes it much easier when driving at night. 👍

Rain light- automatically turns on your headlights if your wipers are on and auto light delay is how long your headlights will stay on after you exit your car.

Traffic R/L is for the xenon headlight functions. You set it to which way the traffic drives so it angles the light away from oncoming drivers. For your country its Right Hand. Rain Light - Switches the lights on when rain is detected, there is usually a delay before the lights come on. Autolamp delay is the amount of time that your lights stay on after ignition off.

Right and left side traffic is for your headlights so they dont blind oncoming when you're in the UK or another left side country.

I totally agree Gjeebs, the lowest air setting needs to be slightly less! I guess that’s what vent shut-offs are for

Or set the airflow to come out the front vents and windscreen which then lowers the velocity of air coming out the front vents.

I just bought a 2016 RS. It doesn't have navigation and I'm pissed. I just want to know if there is a way to add navigation

5:30 - Right hand and left hand probably if you drive on the right side of the road (USA) vs the left side of the road (UK). And I think you can update the Sync with a USB drive

I have sync 3 without navigation in my 2017 ST and i really want to get navigation because google maps is a hassle

If you don't have factory NAV on your sync 3 system, it can be added. There are a few companies that sell the NAV enabled APIMs , or buy one from a junkyard out of a Sync 3 vehicle that has been wrecked. You'll need to pull the touch screen out, and then remove the APIM on the back of the screen and replace it with the NAV enabled one.. its pretty easy to do.. The only problem is the APIM with NAV isn't cheap, even out of a boneyard. Right now they're selling between 500 and 800 bucks when you can find one.

Highly recommend just downloading the update to sync to a USB flash drive. That's what i did and the process was fast and simple.

Ford says a USB with 32gb free. Once you do the update on the car, you can take the USB back to your computer to upload the results to ford. I think it’s just to update the owner site info when you login. When I updated to 2.3 from 2.2, my computer failed to upload the file. Eventually the WiFi picked up the update and reported it back to Ford because it was showing up to date when I went to the owner site to download the 3.0 update.

Traffic R/L is which side of the road you're driving on so you don't blind people.

L/R is what side of the road you drive on. The auto on is how long it take to turn on the headlamps after it senses dark.

superb ,i think lh and rh may be to do with us and english drving on which side of road or when parked at night .you can leave a road side light on ......not 100 per cent on this...im just annoyed i cant sync my sony xperia to the infotainment on my 17 plate st line uk model...so frustrating...grrr

My 2018 ST doesn't have this... this setting may be specific to your model year or VIN range. Also you have the ST splash screen which mine does not have.. I would love to compare the "As Built" data from your VIN with mine. I've been looking for the hex code for the splash screen enable and haven't been able to find it. The MyKey is ford's "parental controls" for the car, you can set a maximum speed the car can be driven at, maximum radio volume, and disable the ability to turn off ESC and traction control and assign those settings to a specific key or keyfob.

Bought an '18 ST3 and I have Apple CarPlay :)

Yup my 18 does as well. You can also download the updates via usb stick from home as well. Don't need to use wifi. Just need a 4gb stick I believe.

In my driver assist it has things like auto emergency braking, blind spot, Adaptive cruise, rear traffic Alert, Lane departure warning and auto high beam etc

2016. I have Sync 3

It's interesting that your 2016 ST3 has different instrument cluster menu options than my 2016 ST3. In Settings > Vehicle I have Auto Engine Off and Compass options, and in Lighting I don't have a Traffic R/L menu. Also, in the Display menu I don't have an option to turn on Navigation Info. FWIW, I'm in California. Also, there is an update to Sync 3 v3.0 that was released earlier this week. You may want to hold off on it as it looks like there is a bug to where a menu saying something about being able to update via WiFi pops up on startup every time. Not a big deal, but slightly annoying.

My 18 ST2 has the same options your's does. Does yours have the ST startup splash screen or does it just go to the display itself? I would love to get Gjeebs VIN so i could compare his "As Built" data to mine and see exactly what is different in his instrument panel programming and configuration settings, and what the central configuration settings are on his Body control module. His has a different configuration based on his videos than other ST's I've seen including my own. His may have been originally intended as an export vehicle.

Valet Mode just locks your contacts and phonebook so they can't be looked at. For obvious reasons. Does nothing for the engine.

It’s version 2.3 now by the way, that’s what you need for CarPlay. There’s no way our car will update that over WiFi. It’s too big of an update. Ford website states you need at least a 32gb thumb drive. I’ve done the update, you also need to buy the usb hub that’s in our center console arm rest area. To tell you the truth, I’m not impressed with the time and effort and money I spent on the usb hub and the thumb drive just to gain CarPlay. CarPlay is over rated. Apple maps sucks, there’s a problem when you want to switch views, you always have to leave it in display mode: north up, you try switching out of that view the map freezes. It’s been a known issue on the forums I’ve searched from way back in 2016, Apple hasn’t addressed it yet! Update also takes about 30 minutes to download, wastes gas just idling. If you want the update, go for it, I personally prefer sync 3, also you can’t run certain features of sync 3 while CarPlay is running! Dumb! I had big time problems repairing my phone for like almost a week after update, called Ford tech 3 times! Save yourself the money and headache! Don’t do the update! It’s roughly about 70 bucks for the usb hub for the 2016 focus st.

Also, you have to have iPhone always plugged in to utilize CarPlay, in fact the only reason to buy the damn hub is because Apple doesn’t play well with others. The update brings over Android auto, but not car play, you’ll need to go to Ford to buy the hub. If you’ve got an android, you’re set up right after the update, nothing further to purchase. If you’ve got a thumb drive you could do it for free. Just download it from Ford website, unzip the files and plug it in. Idle for 30 min, or you can take a drive, website says you can drive the car while updating, assuming of course your Navi and stereo etc would be inaccessible?! I just idled in my garage for half an hour. DO NOT ATTEMPT to do it without car running. Car will go into preservation mode, so to speak, and shut down the update, Navi, etc, and you will lose some of your settings! Trust me on that one, lol!

WiFi updates per Ford tech are only incremental updates, so I’m assuming small updates to what ever version the cars currently running, it’s really pointless IMO. Just go to owner.ford.com and search for the update 2.3. Follow the directions and insert a thumb drive. Also the admin key features are for you, the owner, of you let someone borrow your car, you can program the spare key to have certain limitations within the car, ie: Explicit songs will not be steamed via satellite radio, if let’s say you let a minor borrow your car etc. There’s other features too, but not sure what they all are. Hope this helps.

17’s and up came with the update and the center console usb hub. It’s us guys with the 15’s and 16’s that have to shell out the 70 bucks to update. It’s easy to replace though, where the usb is located in the center arm rest console, use a plastic trim removal tool, credit card, plastic putty knife etc and gently pry it up. It pops right out. 3 wires attached. Disconnect and replace with new hub. BUY THE EXACT 1 USB HUB PORT. DO NOT BUY THE 2 PORT. If you do, you’re omitting the use of the usb hub under the climate control. That’s why there’s 3 wires on the one in the console. 1 is for power, the other 2 are for both of the hubs, climate control hub and center console hub. If you buy the 2 port hub there’s no way to plug in the front hub.
