Getting started with Raycast
Raycast (www.raycast.com) is a Mac 'launcher' app that helps you to navigate, find things and do your work quicker (similar to Spotlight on the Mac, but much more powerful). I think of it as a Swiss army knife of apps as it can do the work of other apps, all in one tool. I've been an Alfred user for a while but after 15 minutes of using Raycast (not even exaggerating) I was convinced to switch and make it my main launcher.

Fist time on your channel. This was really well done. Concise, informative, and helpful, without any unnecessary fluff or distracting music. Thank you!

thank you! I used Quicksilver for years - wanted to automate with the stream deck and found your Alfred overview (which was excellent btw).. and YT suggested your Raycast video. Thank you SO much!

Thanks, Paul. You’ve got me convinced of giving it a try. I have used Launchbar for 1.5 year but I find it quite cumbersome to learn how to use the multiple features it offers. Raycast looks simple and intuitive. I look forward to trying this app. And certainly look forward to attending more of your videos.

This is exactly what I’ve been looking at. Saw a video a year ago about best apps to ease your workflow on Mac. This app was on the list, but it didn’t explain how to use and then I just abandoned it. Thanks for the video

Great introduction to Raycast, Paul! I really like how organised your Apple shortcuts folder is at 9:40 - can reveal how I can make those categories myself?

Great video, Paul! Objective and very informative! I also really like the idea that you promoted the app just because you liked it and it is really good. I am definitely trying it out now. You got yourself a new subscriber! Thanks for the video and keep up the good work!

NIce video. Thanks. Just started using Alfred, and it came with a bunch of precoded snippets, system functions, etc. With raycast do I need to do everything from scratch?

There are a lot of out of the box features all ready to go, but some set up is also needed.

Hi Paul, great video. Thank you so much. Especially the "create reminder" functionality is appealing to me but I cannot find this command in the list. Is it a standard command or did you create it?

Hello Paul. Just a question about an other thing. How did you add the 3 Symbols next to the back Button on 1:49 minute in Safari? :) P.S.: Great Video.

Thanks, I love raycast. The problem is, there’s so much it can do, it’s difficult to decide what to try to remember!

I have a question: When I type in my passwords for log in to - lets say - my bank accounts - are they too visible in the clipboard history?
@minor-co
7 ай бұрын
They probably would be. However, if you use a password manager like 1Password, they come with settings which prevent passwords from being copied to your clipboard.

frankly saying, things have been very easy to set up in Raycast for the most part. And it contains a lot of extensions. the free Alfred can be a very good lightweight search tool, for searching Mac, executing system commands, and saving quick links stuff for searching the internet, only that. you can use it if you feel Raycast is overwhelming. I haven't used the paid version of Alfred, I just explored the free version in sometime and removed it.
