Looks great :) Oddly enough I had just made a bunch of beads last night with an old cane I had. Resting the cane like you mentioned REALLY does make things a lot easier. What I do to make fitting the slices together (rather than overlapping) is use the edge of a round cookie cutter to cut where I want to fit in the next slice as I am not that good with the crafting knife. Can't wait for your next video :)

What is wrong with me? I never would have thought to cut out underlaying canes instead of overlapping. I know how to cut out for inserts, but somehow never made the connection. Thank you for the simple demonstration. You just made my life a lot easier!

How do you do a circle cane that has edging? Like a flower with long petals and a solid color background, can't really overlap those. I'd love to see that in a tutorial! I love your way of explaining things, I've learned so much, thank you!

These are helpful techniques! Thanks so much. How do you lift the burnished veneer off the work surface without distorting the shape, especially if the shape is important to the finished piece? I have trouble getting circles to stay perfectly circular.

I use a tissue blade to scrap it off the tile.

That was an extremely informative video- thank you so much 😊 as far as tips go, the one thing that I’ve noticed is that whenever I want to use cane slices in a veneer, the smaller blocks work better (especially with Kato since it doesn’t distort as much). BTW, have you done a tutorial on the kaleidoscope cane that was used in this video? It’s beautiful 😍!

May I ask what surface you work on? It seems to keep the clay in place but not as sticky as a ceramic tile.

Hi Samantha! Thank you so much for answering my question on your last video about stuff that tarnishes! I went to your etsy store to do some shopping and it says that you're not shipping for awhile 😭😭😭! Any idea on when you'll reopen? In the meantime I'll be praying for your sick relative.

Teresa Salgado would have turned the rose cane into a square cane and covered a square bead. She would then make the bead round. By doing it this way, there’s no white space between the cane slices. The whole bead is covered with the cane slices.
