@@FarmSimGamer Thanks FarmSim!!! I would say around the Jackson, Nebraska area in Dakota county. Small towns, flat & hilly lands, Ethanol plants, etc.

I’m very excited to see my local area being mapped! I agree with the others who said you may find a few horses here and there, and hogs/chickens would not be out of place, but I wouldn’t expect to find many sheep. This is a corn and soybean area for the most part. I look forward to your progress!

Thanks for that. Good to know you are a local and I'm interested to know how accurate I'm getting with the look and feel. Thanks for your input on the farming too. The street view is only from the roadside, so hard to see some of the detail. The house yards/gardens look big through. Some have sheds in the back, but not clear if they are small farms or not. Please feel free to give feedback and suggestions anytime. 👍😉

Hog farming is decently big in Indiana. My parents live in Kokomo and it's all around there. Some dairy as well

Yes, it is a bit ambitious but should be a fun challenge, so looking forward to seeing how close I can get to the real thing. I think houses and buildings might be a bit restrictive, but the layout should work out okay. Thankfully, I picked somewhere flat!! Thanks for your feedback. 😃👍

Thanks Arnold. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes - I plan to play on the map, but have realised once complete I'll probably have to play on all of it! If I sell blocks of land off, some fields will be partially un-playable as they will stagger multiple blocks of land. I'll have to have a think about that! And thanks for the sub. My mother used to work in Arcadia which was shown on that google maps image you were showing. Wasn't a whole whole lot of trees like most maps seems to have. But yeah for sure man. Can't wait. If needing testers shoot me a dm. Take care sir

@@McCracken830 Thanks Steve. As the original map was made by ALienJim, there shouldn't be much to test (hopefully!), but I hope to be able to share the map with a few people once completed. Not sure how long that will take. Busy with work at the moment!

This is a good challenge. I am from the UK so would probably pick something near me, although lots of hills. Flat land helps a bit!! Good luck. Will be good to see how things develop!

Thanks. I am UK as well, but Western Wilds has a US feel to it, so seemed a natural choice. And yes - flat land helps!

The crazy thing about this is that I went right past their lastnight going to dci Simi finals.

@@NipTopCheese14 Great, thanks! From Google maps, doesn't seem like there is much in the way of animals. Have seen a few horse paddocks and some sheep, but not much else. Is there much in the way of cattle or sheep, or is it all mainly arable farming? And there seem to be quite a few small farms, i.e. House plus a single machine shed and grain store but that's it. So I'm guessing quite a few farms, but all smallish. I guess if arable, they don't need much space. Any insight would be helpful - if you have time. No rush. Many thanks. 👍😉

Everything you mentioned is spot on. One of the biggest John Deere dealers in the country is north on 31 nearby, so I believe a lot of the small farms lease equipment. Obviously Indiana is known for corn, but there is also a good amount of soybeans, so I’d stick to those two. I work in Kokomo, so I’m constantly scoping out the area for inspo for fs lol

I figured Corn and Soybeans from the Google imagery, but I'll do a bit of cereals as well to mix things up. I plan to set a number of small farms up so they work the fields around them.
